1 POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title Senior Developer Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Position Number Reports to Manager, Solutions Development Functional Auth HRM Auth Region Sydney Date Date Function ITSC Signature Signature Role Purpose This new Senior Developer role is to provide in-house capacity in the areas of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence. The role will be responsible for design, development, testing and maintenance of multi-dimensional database models, data marts, data warehousing, data transformation, data analytics, reporting solutions and dashboards using Microsoft technology stack and underlying tools. The solutions will align to the UnitingCare NSW.ACT ITSC Architecture Roadmap as part of UnitingCare organisational objective. To ensure quality solutions are delivered to the business in a consistent manner, this role is required to contribute and adhere to a common development framework and a standard build and release process based on the industry best practices. It also requires the person to collaborate with other technical and nontechnical stakeholders within UnitingCare and the Uniting Church to achieve a desirable outcome. When required, this role is expected to: write technical specification documents; liaise with vendors; perform operational support, cross-skilling other developers. This individual will work within the Business Application Group. Data Warehousing Design and Development (50%) Accountabilities Capabilities Design and development of data warehousing solutions Design, develop and maintain test strategies and plans Design, develop and maintain deployment strategies and plans Solutions are developed within the agreed timeframe, scope, quality, approach and budget Solutions delivered are aligned to the UnitingCare NSW.ACT ITSC technology roadmap Establishment of a sound quality assurance model by enabling continuous build and integration Provide solution estimates using proven techniques 1. Demonstrates extensive knowledge in Data Warehouse architecture and design, especially in the Microsoft technology stack 2. Demonstrates extensive knowledge in ETL, SSIS, SQL, T-SQL 3. Demonstrates extensive knowledge in data cleansing, data transformation and data aggregation 4. Demonstrate experience in testing data warehouse solutions in all development phases 5. Demonstrates experience in performance tuning 6. Demonstrates experience in end-to-end delivery of solutions and good understanding of Application Life Cycle Management 7. Demonstrates experience in BAU and is able to identify improvements and incorporate them in short to long term planning 8. Demonstrate experience in providing solution estimates by using various estimation techniques 9. Demonstrates strong ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications 10. Demonstrates good understanding in various software development methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, etc. 11. Demonstrates ability to identify and recommend Quality of Service requirements as part of the solutions 12. Business Intelligence Design and Development (30%) Accountabilities Capabilities Design and develop multi-dimensional models such as Cubes, Data Views and Dimensions Recommend standard development process and methodologies Design and develop reporting applications such as BI Dashboards, reporting cubes, Excel Power Pivots templates and static reports Solutions delivered are aligned to the UnitingCare NSW.ACT ITSC technology roadmap 1. Demonstrates strong capabilities in MDX, Cubes, Reports, Charts and PerformancePoint Services for Sharepoint 2. Good understanding of MOLAP and ROLAP technologies 3. Demonstrates good experience in Information Visualisation 4. Highly skilled in SQL and SQL performance tuning 5. Demonstrates capability in understanding business requirements and ability to recommend both tactical and strategic solutions to the business 3. Contribute to the Implementation of Centre of Excellence - frameworks, processes, standards, guidelines, blueprints and best practices (10%) Accountabilities Capabilities Contribute to establishment of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in areas of multi-dimensional database models, data marts, data warehousing, data transforms, data analytics, reporting solutions and dashboards Contribute to the establishment of Test, Build, QA and Release Processes To publish and embed the process, standards and procedures within the Business Application Group To align the development process to the UC NSW.ACT PMO methodology To continuously improve the CoE to ensure that up-to-date technology and industry best practices are adopted 1. Demonstrates strong passion for staying abreast of latest technology in the areas of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence 2. Demonstrates strong ability to identify, adopt and apply robust technologies into the CoE 3. Have experience in establishing a CoE in previous assignments 4. Demonstrates strong ability to learn new technology quickly and able to apply them in effectively 5. Demonstrates work experience in consultancy or similar 6. Operational support (3 rd level), cross skilling and vendor liaison (10%) Accountabilities Capabilities To perform technical support when required in root cause analysis, enhancements and upgrades especially to the Applications Support Team To promote cross skilling to reduce single resource dependency To liaise with preferred suppliers, stakeholders and clients when required Provide extra assistance to team members and staff when required. 1. 6 Professional Experience Person Specification Must have strong knowledge in design, development and Desirable management of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Exposure to other Microsoft technologies and products such as solutions with minimum of 5 years of experience PerformancePoint Services, Master Data Management, A minimum of 3 years of experience development in: Integration Services, Microsoft Dynamics AX, C#, SharePoint, o T-SQL Excel VBA and Web Services o SQL Server Reporting Services Exposure to Jira and Subversion administration o SQL Server Analysis Services Experience in consulting services o SQL Server Integration Services Understanding of the integrated Aged Care and other services related business activities of UnitingCare NSW.ACT in terms of o MDX business drivers, organisational structures, processes and functions and business information A minimum of 2 years of experience in Information Visualisation Good data analysis skill to determine the right data structure, data content and data quality based of the source systems and data samples Experience in MOLAP and ROLAP and their applications to solve different reporting problems Proven track record in software solution delivery by meeting scope, budget and timeframe Demonstrates solid professional experience in medium to large organisations Experience in engaging stakeholders and developing relationships Ability to operate autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team environment Personal Attributes Self motivated and quick learner Good oral and written communication skills Good interpersonal skills Committed, accountable and have the ability to multitask Good team player and open minded.
