III. SETTING UP AN ONLINE CONNECTION Checklist: In order for the online connection to work properly, TecLocal must be installed according to the Installation instructions (s. previous chapter). In order to establish the online connection over a modem (analog/isdn/dsl), you must have Internet access (an Internet account) installed on your PC. An access wizard is used to set up the connection with the TecCom Network. The TecNet Access wizard simplifies the choice of settings by making proposals. It then establishes a test connection to the TecCom Network via the Internet. The settings will be stored in the TecLocal Administration and can be changed manually if desired. Using the Access Wizard Open TecLocal with a double click on the TEC-Local symbol on your screen. You do not need any user data when you set up TecLocal for the first time. Use the username Demo provided by TecCom for the initial setup. Click on Login. You do not need a password for this username. Select the function area Administration (F5). 1. Click on My TecCom. When the menu opens click on Access to the TecCom Network in order to start the access assistant 1. Select how you would like to be connected to the TecCom Network. Using a dial-up connection Select this option if you would like to dial in to the Internet using an analog, ISDN or DSL modem. All Internet accounts on your PCwill be shown automatically by the access wizard. If your PC is attached to a company network (LAN), this is not the right option for you. TecGo Online Local - Release 3.0-08/2006 3/10

Using a direct network connection The Internet connection is established over a local company network, i.e. over a router to which your PC is connected. In some cases a proxy server is used. This provides central management of Internet access. Ask your IT administrator whether a proxy server is used and, if so, what its IP address is. This must be entered in the TEC-Net Access wizard. If the proxy server requires a username and password for Internet access, you need to install TecGate and use it for access. Please contact the TecCom Help Desk in this case. According to the administration settings When it tests the connection, the access wizard uses the parameters that are already present in the Access tab of the Administration area. No further settings have to be made in the access wizard. 2. Click on Continue. IIIa. With a dial-up internet connection 1. The drop-down list will automatically display all Internet connections on your PC. Select the one you would like to use to connect to TecCom. If the list is empty, you do not have a dial-up Internet account. Exit the access wizard in this case and set up an internet connection before starting it again. How to do this is described in the Windows Help (usually under Start - Help). 2. Click on Continue 1. Here you enter whether you would like to terminate the Internet connection after a transaction. You can also enter a time of inactivity after which the connection will be terminated automatically. 2. Click on Continue. Continue to the Access Test (p. 5) TecGo Online Local - Release 3.0-08/2006 4/10

IIIb. Using a direct connection 1. If you select a direct connection as the connection type, you will need to enter whether you access the Internet using a router in the following steps. 2. Click on Continue. Continue to the Access Test IV. CONDUCTING THE ACCESS TEST 1. After you have entered all required information, click on Access Test. This will establish a connection to the TecCom Network and test it. 1. If the Access Test resultst successful, click on Exit. This concludes the setup. All settings are now stored in the Administration area in the Access tab. TecGo Online Local - Release 3.0-08/2006 5/10
