1 Connecting to Delta College Exchange services off-campus The following instructions are provided to document the client configuration used to connect to Microsoft Exchange services at Delta College from off-campus. To connect to Delta College Exchange Services, you need to be running one of the following e- mail client/operating system combinations: 1. Outlook 2003 on Windows XP SP2 or above. 2. Outlook 2003 on Windows Vista. 3. Outlook 2003 on Windows Outlook 2007 on Windows XP SP2 or above. 5. Outlook 2007 on Windows Vista. 6. Outlook 2007 on Windows Entourage 2008 on Mac OS X or above. Please follow the steps below for whichever supported client you are configuring. 1. Configure Outlook 2003 for off-campus connections 2. Configure Outlook 2007 for off-campus connections 3. 2 Steps to configure Outlook 2003 for off-campus connections The following steps apply to creating an Outlook 2003 profile to connect to the Delta College Exchange server from off-campus. 1. Open the control panel (normally accessed by clicking the Start button, then click Settings, then click Control Panel) 2. Double-click on the Mail icon. Note: If the Mail icon is not listed, the control panel may be displaying in Category View instead of Classic View. Switching to Classic View (or View by: Small icons in Windows 7) will display the full list. Note: If you are using Windows Vista 64-bit, the Mail icon will be located in the 32-bit Control Panel. The 32-bit Control Panel is found within the standard Control Panel. 3. Click on Show Profiles 4. Click Add to create a new profile. Give it a name and click OK. 5. You ll then be presented with the Accounts dialog. Select Add a new account and click Next. Connecting to Delta College Exchange services off-campus Page 2 of 12

Note: If the Mail icon is not listed, the control panel may be displaying in Category View instead of Classic View.

6. Select Microsoft Exchange Server and click Next. 7. Type exch07mb1.delta.edu in the Microsoft Exchange server box. Leave the box checked to Use Cached Exchange Mode.

3 6. Select Microsoft Exchange Server and click Next. 7. Type exch07mb1.delta.edu in the Microsoft Exchange server box. Leave the box checked to Use Cached Exchange Mode. Enter your Delta username in the User Name box (it may have filled automatically). Do NOT click Next yet. 8. Click the More Settings... button to specify further options. Note: If you are creating this profile from off-campus, you may receive an error message indicating that the server is unavailable (this is normal as the firewall does not permit normal Outlook connections to the Exchange Server). Click OK. This will be followed by a Microsoft Exchange Server box with a single tab as below. Click Cancel and you will be able to continue with the next step. 4 9. Select the Connection tab and check the box labeled Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP. Leave the other settings as default. 10. Click the Exchange Proxy Settings button and complete as below. a. The URL for the proxy server should contain exchmail.delta.edu b. Change the Proxy authentication settings drop-down to Basic Authentication. This will automatically check and disable the Connect using SSL only checkbox. c. Check the Mutually authenticate box and enter msstd:*.delta.edu d. Check the boxes for On fast networks and On slow networks. This will tell Outlook to use HTTPS instead of trying to talk directly. (If left unchecked, Outlook will take a long time to connect from off-campus.) 11. Click OK twice to return to the Exchange Server Settings dialog. 12. Change the Proxy authentication settings drop-down to Basic Authentication. This will automatically check and disable the Connect using SSL only checkbox. c. Check the Mutually authenticate box and enter msstd:*.

5 13. You will be back at the profiles screen. Make sure the mail applet is set to prompt for a profile to be used and click OK. 14. Start Outlook and select this new profile. When prompted for a username and password use a qualified user name such as Delta\username or username@delta.edu Use your Delta username and password. 15. Outlook should connect to the Exchange server and create a cached copy of your mailbox. You should see the connection status displayed in the lower right corner of the Outlook window. 6 Steps to configure Outlook 2007 for off-campus connections The following steps apply to creating an Outlook 2007 profile used to connect to Exchange externally via RPC/HTTPS. 1. Open the control panel (normally accessed by clicking Start>Settings>Control Panel) 2. Double-click on the Mail icon. Note: If the Mail icon is not listed, the control panel may be displaying in Category View instead of Classic View. Switching to Classic View (or View by: Small icons in Windows 7) will display the full list. Note: If you are using Windows Vista 64-bit, the Mail icon will be located in the 32-bit Control Panel. The 32-bit Control Panel is found within the standard Control Panel. 3. Click on Show Profiles 4. Click Add to create a new profile. Give it a name and click OK. 5. You ll then be presented with the Add New Account dialog. Outlook 2007 will detect your login name and attempt to auto-configure the profile for you. 6. Select Microsoft Exchange and click Next. 7. Enter exch07mb1.delta.edu in the Microsoft Exchange server box. Leave the box checked to Use Cached Exchange Mode.

Enter your Delta username if it isn t auto-filled. Note: If you are creating this profile from off-campus, you may be prompted for a password to validate your username. Just click Cancel as you won t be able to login yet. 8. Click the More Settings button to specify further options. Note: If you are creating this profile from offcampus, you may receive an error message indicating that the server is unavailable (this is normal as the firewall does not permit normal Outlook connections to the Exchange Server). Click OK. This will be followed by a Microsoft Exchange Server box. Click Cancel and you will be able to continue with the next step. 10 Steps to configure Entourage 2008 The following steps describe connecting Entourage 2008 to the Exchange server at Delta College. The configuration is the same for external users as it is for internal users. Therefore, if Entourage is already configured to connect to Exchange, no change should be necessary for off-campus access. 1. Start Entourage a. If you have never run Entourage before, you will be greeted with the Entourage Setup Assistant. Close the Setup Assistant and continue as below. 2. Select Accounts from the Tools menu. 3. Click the arrow next to the New icon and select Exchange 4. You will be greeted with the Account Setup Assistant. Click on the Configure Account Manually button. Therefore, if Entourage is already configured to connect to Exchange, no change should be necessary for off-campus access. 1. Start Entourage 2008. a. If you have never run Entourage before, you will be greeted with the Entourage Setup Assistant.

11 5. The Edit Account window will appear. a. On the Account Settings tab fill in the following fields as shown: i. Account Name: A name for this account in Entourage such as Delta Exchange or Delta ii. Name: your name iii. address: your Delta address iv. Account ID: your Delta login username v. Domain: delta.edu vi. Password: your Delta password (if you choose to save it in your keychain) vii. Exchange server: exchmail.delta.edu viii. E-mail address: your Delta e-mail address iv. Account ID: your Delta login username v. Domain: delta.edu vi.

b. Click on the Advanced tab and fill in the fields as shown: i. Public folders server: https://exchmail.delta.edu/public (The checkbox for This DAV service should be checked automatically) ii.
