for everyone A community of Life Savers For every minute a patient does not get CPR / defibrillation, chances of survival fall by 10% Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest survival is ~9%, yet in airports and gyms where response times are fast it is > 80%. With GoodSAM we believe we can achieve something similar. 5m 200m It s based on the theory that, in the same way you are rarely more than 5 metres from a spider, you are probably rarely more than 200m from someone trained in life support. GoodSAM is there to alert them! The GoodSAM network can be alerted through the Alerter App or the emergency services via 999 / 911 / 112 / 000 London April 2016
GoodSAM for everyone Alerter App - Public press one button to trigger (or can even trigger from an Apple Watch) - Displays distance to nearest responder and local AEDs (defibrillators). - Activation simultaneously calls the emergency services and alerts nearest 3 responders. - Secure Videostream to ambulance control and responders (Emergiscope) - Has Life Detector built in to measure pulse and respiratory rate. - Can store personal information for responder (e.g. history of epilepsy) and can inform Next of Kin of activation. - Has in-built messaging system to update responder. By alerting responders simultaneously to the emergency call, responders are en route immediately, saving 1-2 minutes in time compared to trigger from an emergency dispatch centre.
for responders Responder App - Alerts registered responders to emergencies in their vicinity. - Displays location of patient, other responders, local AEDs and can provide directions to the scene. - If unable to go, the next nearest responder is automatically alerted. - Has inbuilt messaging system for communication with alerter. - Now has Emergiscope to be able to see video from the scene. - I m on scene, I have Defib and other buttons Note: By using the latest in location technology (triangulation and wifi data) this system uses negligible battery when not activated.
for responders Defibrillocator The in-built defibrillocator function of both alerter and responder apps enables uploading of AEDs that are in fixed positions (e.g. fixed to a wall) with availability times (e.g. office hours). They are then checked and added to the database. > 13,500 defibrillators already added- the largest defibrillator registry in the world. GoodSAM believes this data belongs to the local statutory authority (ambulance service) and are keen to share (and sync) with them and their approved partners.
for responders Life Detector GoodSAM has patented a technique that utilises the phones accelerometers to measure pulse and respiration rate. Simply place your phone on the patient s chest or back and you ll get an accurate readings within a few seconds. This information can be passed to the Dispatch Centre automatically.
for responders Emergiscope A built in video streaming function splits the emergency (112/999/911/000) audio call and simultaneously video streams to surrounding responders and ambulance control enabling faster responses for the most critically ill while preserving resources when less urgent.
for responders Buzz Messaging This feature enables responders to message other responders around them and provides a comms channel to the host organisation. They can set this to restrict messages completely, to those just from responders registered within their organisation or unrestricted. This enables multiple messages to be passed unlike a single radio frequency and has uses in large event first aid coverage.
for responders Cardiac Arrest All responders are trained and current, but the App still contains Cardiac Arrest Guidelines - these are country specific for where the phone is located. And as the latest guidelines recommend a metronome, we ve built one into the App!
GoodSAM for responders Reports If a responder has been activated a form within the App is automatically generated. This can collect information such as the interventions required on scene and the outcome. This data can then be utilised as part of response timings / outcome studies as well as form part of the patient record.
for responders Responder Dashboard There are many features including personal profile and attended alerts. There is a SMS registration tab which enables registration of home and work place and times at each. This means responders without smartphones can still use the system through SMS alerts (used in resource poor settings and remote regions with poor coverage).
for organisations Administrator Dashboard The Administrator Web Dashboard has many features - see the Admin manual for them all, but in brief the dashboard enables multiple administrators in an organisation to: - Verify / Approve their Responders - View locations of Responders (privacy settings allowing) - View and approve AEDs - Create Alerting Rules for specific events (e.g. cardiac arrest / shortness of breath) and vary the numbers and type of responders (CPR trained - police / fire etc, CFRs, paramedics ), radius of alert, duration of response etc) - Trigger Alerts - Message responders via Push notification / SMS or email - View statistics / reporting information - Secure File Storage and view live alerts / video stream through the alerter App. The platform can be used in Major Incidents to coordinate the response.
for responders Governance Governance of GoodSAM is paramount. All responders have ID and certification verified. A code of conduct has been developed with UK Ambulance Services but can be modified for local specifics. By giving organisations (e.g. St John) their own platform on GoodSAM, they provide governance for their members.
GoodSAM for organisations Branding - Imagine if different parts of your country had different responder / alerting app systems - it wouldn t work. - But we appreciate your organisational identity is vital, and hence we are happy to brand specify the App for your powered by GoodSAM responders. - This means that organisations can keep their own powered by GoodSAM responders and brand, yet utilise a responding system that is the platform for all organisations.
for organisations CAD INTEGRATION GoodSAM can be activated through CAD You can select specific variables to trigger it automatically, for example Not conscious, Not Breathing for cardiac arrest. Additional features enable the emergency services to select other variables and create other alerting algorithms (e.g. for Shortness of breath ) Emergency call CAD triggers GoodSAM and dispatches Ambulance Set determinants not conscious / breathing Can feedback to CAD / Control via API or set as Fire and Forget The system can work as a Fire and Forget message from CAD or integrate with CAD, whichever your organisation wishes. The number / type of responders and radius of the alert are set by the ambulance service Responders can be mapped and communicated with.
for organisations Our Principles And of course, the system works across all platforms At our core we have the following principles: - Governance - Security - Innovation - Collaboration We strive to do the right thing to the patients we serve - provide hyper-acute care while maintaining the highest governance and security principles essential to good care.

There is no third party software ensuring security Security: Video: - Guaranteed Security using TLS protocols - Scalable architecture using stateless servers - Self healing capabilities with distributed notification system - Redundancies on all services (CAD, APP, WEB and Media servers) with 100% uptime - Multi AZ database with read replicas - Built in-house using variety of open-source librariesinnovative - Scalable highly available engine - Powerful web based facade with CAD integration capabilities
for patients Survivor Stories GoodSAM now has a number of survivors take Doug for example Doug was a 53 year old who suffered a cardiac arrest while martial arts training in South London. Two community first responders were at a training session nearby when they were alerted to Doug s emergency through the GoodSAM App. They picked up the defibrillator they were using and headed to the gym arriving under two minutes later. With 5 rounds of CPR and a single shock, Doug had a return of spontaneous circulation Doug was transferred to the local cardia unit where he underwent coronary stenting and was back at work just 1 month later. Thanks to the two responders being on the GoodSAM App and the system being integrated with the local emergency services, Doug got the rapid response that can make all the difference in these cases.
