Swe Tha Har Social Services is looking for an Executive Director to lead a growing organization. Swe Tha Har s Vision is Individuals and communities live in peace, dignity and fullness of life. The ideal candidate will be passionate about this mission; an effective and organized communicator with great presentation skills; experienced in peace and conflict transformation; experienced in fundraising, and involved in the Swe Tha Har communities and networks. The Purpose of the Position To work collaboratively with the Board of Directors in leading the transformation of Swe Tha Har Social Services from its current stage to a more mature organization capable of delivering on its long term vision. To ensure that program objectives are clearly stated and that program activities are focused on achievement of stated goals. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and has primary responsibilities of supervision of program personnel and setting the overall tone for the program.
Be responsible for ensuring the quality donor reports are produced in timely manner as its contractual agreements, and developing proposals for fund raising of Swe Tha Har. To ensure that Swe Tha Har s fiscal, operations, fundraising, human resource, technology, and programmatic strategies are effectively implemented across all segments of the organization specifically. II. Major Responsibilities A. Strategic Vision and Organizational Leadership 1) Collaborate with the Board to refine and implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff, and priorities are aligned with Swe Tha Har Social Services core mission. 2) Provide inspirational leadership and direction to all executives, and ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization; establish effective decision-making processes that will enable Swe Tha Har Social Services to achieve its long- and short-term goals and objectives. 3) Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board and ensure open communication about the measurement of financial, programmatic, and impact performance against stated milestones and goals, help build a diverse and inclusive Board representative of the community that is highly engaged and willing to leverage and secure resources. 4) Collaborate and lead in effecting positive communication within and among all Swe Tha Har s structures, programs, partners, and members. B. Financial Management and Fund Raising 1) Ensure that the flow of funds permits Swe Tha Har Social Services to make continuous progress towards the achievement of its mission and that those funds are allocated properly to reflect present needs and future potential.
2) Raise the visibility of the organization through the development and formulate development strategies that will ensure consistency throughout the organization and enhance revenue from major donors, foundations, government agencies, and corporations. 3) Oversee the financial status of the organization including developing long and short range financial plans, monitoring the budget and ensuring sound financial controls are in place; set financial priorities accurately to ensure the organization is operating in a manner that supports the needs of the program and staff. 4) Manages all fund development activities, including proposal writing, cultivation and stewardship of donors, event planning, and identifying new resources. 5) Builds long term relationships with key donor segments based on mission, cultivation and stewardship, program outcomes and sound fiscal management. C. Program Development and Operations Management 1) Ensure the delivery of high quality services while managing for current and future growth support and motivate the organization s staff and facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communications with staff throughout the organization; create and promote a positive, multicultural work environment that supports consistency throughout the organization s strategy, operational methods, and data collection needs. 2) Rationalize the delivery of programs through new and existing offices and partnerships 3) Increase efficiencies and consistency throughout the organization by developing and implementing standardized programs and services 4) Oversees and supports the administrative components of all program services, including contract negotiations, contract and grant reporting and contracted work. 5) Provides for quality assurance monitoring of all STH programs, assuring correction of any deficiencies in program services.
D. Annual Planning and Board Functions 1) Facilitates the work of the Board and its committees by developing resource materials, providing appropriate information, and reports and assisting committee chairpersons as necessary. 2) Provides advice and counsel to the Board to assist in setting policies and monitoring the performance of nonprofit. Recommends new policies, programs, and action plans consonant with the vision of the organization; executes all policies/decisions of the Board. 3) Prepare and implement an annual operating plan in collaboration with the board, including a prudent financial plan that supports on-going operating needs and states fundraising plans. Recommends yearly budget for board approval and prudently manages Swe Tha Har s resources within those budget guidelines in accordance with current laws and regulations. 4) Work with the board to establish clear goals and bench marks for growth in organizational capacity. 5) Supports operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and staff, and supporting Board's evaluation of chief executive. E. In relations with staffs 1) Be responsible for the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers. 2) Ensure that job descriptions are developed, that regular performance evaluations are held, and that sound human resource practices are in place. 3) See that an effective management team, with appropriate provision for succession, is in place. 4) Encourage staff and volunteer development and education, and assist program staff in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization. 5) Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality people.
F. Public Relations/ Advocacy 1) Promotes STH's visibility and welfare through participation and membership in community forums, civic organizations and activities that are aligned with STH's mission and vision. 2) Advocate sat the local, state and union level for the peace related issues and activities. 3) Represents STH in all media relations by participating in interviews, developing press releases and all other media type engagements. 4) See that the board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it. 5) Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals. 6) Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations. 7) Represent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations, and the general public. Qualifications Minimum of a BA, and/or ideally peace related Master degree At least 5 years of overall professional experience in similar nonprofit organization Strong background in Conflict Transformation and Peace Related Work In-depth knowledge of the management process, especially as it applies to growth and long-term planning Financial/accounting skills to manage an organizational budget as a whole Effective leadership and organizational development skills Effective oral and written communications skills in both Myanmar and English Ability to plan organization-wide activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, developing policies and procedures, and organizing the functions necessary to accomplish the activities) Skills in staffing effectively; selecting, training and developing employees; directing employees toward desired objectives; delegating, motivating, resolving problems; and controlling the functions (developing performance
