QUALIFICATION OVERVIEW BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business (Superseded) We have redesigned our offering of this qualification to give you more flexibility and make it more relevant to work outcomes. The Certificate IV in Business provides an opportunity for participants who wish to gain or extend the relevant skills and knowledge required in running and managing a general business, department or section or are seeking to enhance their abilities in their role as a line manager. The programs included in this qualification cover the essential skills required for day-to-day management and oversight of others in the workplace. WHO WILL BENEFIT Managers, supervisors, team leaders and line managers who require a general understanding of the business skills and knowledge needed to ensure their organisation s growth. QUALIFICATION PATHWAYS Attend the required training as outlined and successfully complete the assessment requirements Apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) A combination of both training and assessment and RPL. ASSESSMENT Participants are required to successfully complete an assignment for each of the programs, showing how they are applying the competencies addressed on the programs in the workplace. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How do I apply to be registered on the qualification? You can no longer register onto the BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business. This qualification has been superseded with BSB40212 Certificate IV in Business. Please refer to the AIM WA website for details on this new version from October 2013. How do I enrol on the training programs that lead to the qualification? Complete and submit the Enrolment Form contained in this information kit detailing your selected dates to the Client Service Team, book you r programs on-line, or call to speak to a member of the team. Current participants are required to complete all necessary training before 18 December 2013 to achieve this qualification. What are the assessment requirements for this qualification? Participants are required to complete a total of ten units listed and the assessment component or apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Current participants are required to complete all necessary assessment requirements before 18 December 2013 to achieve this qualification. RPL is a process that enables managers who are interested in gaining the Certificate IV in Business qualification to be granted exemption from attendance at some or all training programs. How long do I have to complete the qualification? This qualification has now been superseded and current participants only have until 18 December 2013 to complete all requirements for this qualification. What is the difference between the two qualifications? The core unit BSBOHS407A Monitor a safe workplace has been replaced with BSBWHS401A Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements - EQUIVALENT. How much will it cost? Your investment for any qualification will vary according to the programs you select, and whether or not you choose to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). On most programs, additional fees apply for assessment. Assessment and RPL Fees are calculated per Unit of Competency. Additional travel costs and fees apply for on-site assessment outside Perth metropolitan area. What if I need help finishing the qualification? The Assessment Department can assist with your queries or arrange for an assessor to contact you. We will help get you on the right track! Remember you now only have until 18 December 2013 to submit all assignments for assessment. What if I am asked for further evidence or to re-submit my assignment? Your assessor will contact you if you are required to submit further information to satisfy the rules of evidence the Assessor will guide you as to how you can go about filling the gaps. Provided the additional evidence is submitted within a reasonable time-frame, no additional fee will be applied. If your assessor determines that you are not yet competent, you may resubmit your assignment as many times as required. Re-assessment is charged per Unit of Competence, at the standard rate. What if I already have the skills? As an alternative to attending formal learning sessions, it may be possible to gain nationally recognised qualifications through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). In order to have the skills you have gained through life or work experience formally recognised, you need to provide evidence of how you have obtained that expertise or knowledge. If the skills and knowledge are gained through accredited training, a process of Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) will be applied. Before applying for RPL you will need to refer to the relevant units of competency. These can be found on the National Register www.training.gov.au or contact the Assessment Department for a copy. Comparing your skills against the learning outcomes of the training programs you wish to gain exemption for is also a good starting point. If you think your competence matches the requirements of some or all of the units of competence, complete the application form selecting the RPL option. We will send you an RPL kit to guide you in compiling a portfolio of evidence. Please contact the Assessment Department to discuss your options or to apply for any of the above. When will a Qualification be issued? Statements of Attainment are issued upon successful demonstration of competence against nationally recognised unit(s) of competency. Once you have completed all of the required units of competency for your qualification and received Statements of Attainment for them you will be issued with a testamur (the Qualification) as well as a Record of your Results. Your qualification will also be professionally framed. Please note that it will take approximately 4-6 weeks, from the time you submit your assessment, to issue you with your Statement of Attainment/Qualification. What if I misplace my Qualification or Statement of Attainment? Don t panic! AIM WA keeps accurate records of your training and assessment history which you can readily access. Contact the Assessment Department for a PDF copy of your Certification documents at no charge. We can also reissue your Certification documents administrative costs apply.
