WORKPLACE SAFETY Promoting a safer working environment is not just a consideration it is a major reality in today s workplace. In this program, participants will gain an understanding of the principles and practices that support an effective occupational health and safety system and identify safety issues that need to be addressed in their workplace. INTRODUCTION TO ACCOUNTING What do you think when you see a profit and loss statement, a balance sheet or a set of budget figures? Are you confused or intimidated? If so, this program is for you. During the program you will come to grips with these statements and the basic language and concepts of accounting. MANAGE PROJECTS This program provides an overview to managing a project for those involved in low value, low risk projects. The content includes a conceptual understanding of the four phases of project management initiation, development, implementation and finalisation. A practical activity provides an opportunity for participants to practice the concepts and language of project management. An understanding of the team skills vital to project success forms an integral part of the program. BUILDING CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS Building relationships and effective account management form the basis for successful sales strategy in an organisation. This program focuses on ways to build sales, retain business and increase referrals through the effective servicing and management of one-on-one relationships with clients. The interpersonal aspects of developing mutually beneficial relationships are covered with reference to relationship management models designed to maximise return to business. Y:\Assessment Department\Information Kits\2013\BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business Reference Kit V7.doc 13

WORKPLACE LEADERSHIP Responsible leadership is a prerequisite for high performing teams. This program takes participants through the essential elements of being a leader in a workplace environment. In particular, it focuses on creating an understanding of the role of the leader in a modern organisation. In addition to contributing to the organisation s leadership profile, participants will also explore the aspects of leadership that relate to leading teams and individuals. The key ingredient here is flexibility and the capacity to apply a range of leadership styles to suit the situation. This program not only builds the awareness of this need but also begins the skill building process that helps create flexibility in leadership. Based around in-depth case studies, participants will be encouraged to identify leadership principles and how they can be applied in their work environment. HOW TO RUN MEETINGS If there is one way to tell a good Chairperson from a bad one, it is the following: a good Chairperson is one who controls a meeting so that its particular purpose is achieved as efficiently, fairly and pleasantly as possible. INTRODUCTION TO SELLING Every business needs to sell in order to succeed, and not everyone understands how selling is a way of enabling the customer to achieve what he or she wants. This program will introduce participants to the principles of selling in a way that removes the fears that new or non-salespeople have about being seen as high pressure or manipulative. Participants learn how selling is a customer focussed solutions driven process as they increase their skill and comfort at selling their organisation s products and services. PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATIONS This program explores the skills required to create and deliver highly effective and engaging presentations with confidence and style. The learning environment is comfortable, safe and fun, with may opportunities to practice. 14 Y:\Assessment Department\Information Kits\2013\BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business Reference Kit V7.doc

RISK MANAGEMENT Risk management is essential for good management practice. This practical guide to risk management will provide managers with effective skills and tools to enable them to identify, analyse, evaluate and manage risks. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Market forces place increased pressure on organisations to improve their products and services. To remain competitive in this environment, organisations must continually seek ways to improve all aspects of their business, including workplace relationships, processes, products and services. While the focus on achieving quality products and services is not new, it has shifted from being reactive (inspect and fix) to pro-active (plan to get it right the first time). Through case studies and activities, this practical program will equip participants with the vital skills and knowledge to ensure the quality and continuous improvement approach becomes a natural way of thinking. EXCEL ADVANCED (A) This program will provide you with additional skills and an advanced knowledge of Excel. PROFESSIONAL DOCUMENT DESIGN This one day program has been developed to introduce participants to techniques for effective document design using text, graphics and other visual elements. During this program participants will use Microsoft Word, but the design concepts discussed during the workshop apply to documents created in any software program. BUILDING BRILLIANT WEBSITES If you have been tasked with developing your organisations website but are challenged with not knowing where to start, then this program is for you. You will be learning a little of everything, but enough of the most important aspects of website building, to enable you to develop a sound, client friendly website that enhances the reputation of your business. Y:\Assessment Department\Information Kits\2013\BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business Reference Kit V7.doc 15
