It is calculated by comparing the SEO rankings of the websites linking to you account. If the back link is being generated from a site that has higher rankings than your site, that is a positive influence on SEO. Poor quality or "spammy" backlinks can reduce your site rankings. This number is very hard to increase and has to be done with an overall, long term marketing plan. Any increase in the number is a huge positive for lead generation. Nothing else and no keywords. Almost all sites have the number 1 position for their domain name. In your case you have no rankings or exposure at all for any indexed search terms. People who search on your exact domain name, in any form, stand a 63% chance of finding you. This is worthless as you have no exposure in any market other than you own domain name. Mike Vandling on 11/16/14 10:40 PM This is an estimate of the visibility of your ranked keywords. The higher the the better. You must have ranked keywords for this numer to be significant. If your website does not currently have any ranked keywords, the visibility of your website is based entirely on a search for your exact domain name. The addition of keywords will improve you exposure and lead generation, but will drive this number down (because you are expanding your market to more than just your domain name), at first, and then it will begin to move up as your SEO campaign continues. This is not always possible depending on the competition for your keywords. Mike Vandling on 11/16/14 10:53 PM Over time, the initial goal is to get 6 solid keywords, representing various markets, in one of the top 8 positions. This is not always possible depending on competition. Keywords need changed and promoted over the long term as you expand into new markets and areas. Sometimes non-performing keywords are dropped and new ones added. A major mistake client's make with SEO companies, in general, is to look at a keyword ranking report and assume that if they are ranked number 1, all is well. This is an absolute falsehood. Many SEO companies will choose keywords for which there are 0 searches. At that point, the keyword is automatically ranked number 1. However, if no one searches for the keyword, the net result to you, the customer, is 0. We continually monitor keywords and provide our clients with not only the ranking but the number of searches. Low performing keywords are replaced with higher performing keywords to help generate leads. Our goal is to produce positive results, not necessarily large numbers.
