JOB SUMMARY: We are looking for an exceptional and passionate digital disruptor who has the vision, creativity, expertise and courage to transform and elevate our digital and online communications. The ideal candidate will have a strong user understanding and demonstrated expertise in social media strategy and content development and web content usability, architecture, development, design and optimization. You will be our most driven and inspiring digital ambassador across the organization. Reporting to and working with the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Manager, Digital and Online will lead the development and implementation of solid strategies to grow and strengthen Right To Play s digital and online presence. Overall responsibility is to ensure the optimal functioning and high quality of Right To Play s institutional global web site, as well all social media channels. The incumbent is also to ensure strategic development and posting of content and the leveraging of available technologies to expand the reach of Right To Play s brand and messaging on the web and across our social media platforms.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Job Responsibility #1: Web (55% of Time): Enhance and Develop Global Website: Conduct thorough review of all Right To Play s web platforms with a view to developing a proposal for a full redesign of the website. This review will include both technical specifications, including navigational user interface, front- and back-end design and architecture. Develop proposal for new website including budget and timeline for full rollout of new website across global, national and regional platforms in consultation with Director, Marketing and Communications, CEO, National and Regional Directors, to ensure buy-in from key decisionmakers in the organization. Identify and manage external vendors to carry out the technical and front-end redesign. Manage redesign project with agreed proposal, budget and deadlines. Ongoing Management and Strategic Guidance: Manage the ongoing development, and maintenance of the global website and support all seven sites in the Right To Play website ring. Advise and support regional and national offices in ensuring that their websites follow organization standards, best practice, quality content and brand consistency across all of their websites. Guide and train national and regional office colleagues so they can strengthen their online presence and oversee own sites. Maintain and strategically guide content development and posting for global website to ensure that the website remains dynamic, attractive and user-friendly. Contribute to writing and editing content for the website. Work with the IT department to ensure optimal functionality at all times, page loads, uptime and integration with business functions as appropriate. Identify areas where policy and procedure may be required around website content and use and develop as appropriate. Research emerging technologies and services that may enhance the web experience and make recommendations to management team. Develop and implement marketing strategies and campaigns to significantly grow visitors to the Right To Play global website and to increase time spent on the site. Ensure Consistent, Creative and Content Direction: Ensure Right To Play s web site is a dynamic, attractive, interactive communications environment making full use of available web and online strategies to attract, broaden and engage the audience. Ensure dynamic coverage and compelling storytelling around important results, impacts and achievements of Right To Play programs, events and initiatives. Ensure that all stories on website are packaged in a compelling format that can be shared across social media platforms. Design and develop multimedia products on righttoplay.org and mobile applications.
Reinforce Right To Play s Branding: Enhance our branding across a wide-variety of online platforms, including the global site, regional and national portals and mobile platforms. Contribute to a consistent visual image, including uniform fonts, formatting, icons, images, layout techniques, and modularization. Apply consistent graphic design, page layout, templates, banners and logos. Provide Forward-Looking Strategic Advice To Keep Web Site Functionality And Content Current And Dynamic: Keep the Director, Marketing and Communications and other colleagues abreast of new trends and make suggestions for their integration with righttoplay.com. Regularly review user metrics to guide decisions about content or structure. Job Responsibility #2: Social Media (45% of Time): Social Media & Community Strategy: Develop Right To Play s overall social media strategy. Collaborate with communications/marketing/program and fundraising teams ensuring that social media strategy supports overall organizational goals and objectives. Work closely with communication/marketing teams to identify and implement opportunities and creative solutions for growing our online communities. Management and Moderation: Develop tactical plans and manage projects accordingly, to attract and engage a broader audience while maintaining engagement with existing fans and followers. Develop new content as well as repurpose and distribute existing content via social channels. Create monthly social editorial calendar and work with marketing communications colleagues to incorporate and integrate with other activities and campaigns. Measure and report performance of all digital marketing and web output on a regular basis. Develop and implement influencer program through best practices, to engage social media influencers and build digital ambassador network. Seek out new social media tools and practices, utilizing and improving on existing platform. Develop and maintain social media training resources, guidelines and policies. Team Leadership: Participate constructively in cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with digital, marketing and communications colleagues.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION: Minimum qualification: Bachelor s degree or other designation in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field. EXPERIENCE: Required (must have): Minimum 6 years of experience in a similar role. Good command over Content Management Systems, experience with SharePoint systems an asset. HTML, CSS, XML, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash Interactive, Web and communications skills. Excellent understanding of social media platforms and measurement tools (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Google Analytics). Demonstrated ability to build and grow social media communities and channels. Experience with social listening tools and comfort with measurement and analytics. Understanding of popular social networks design, functionality, users. Excellent communication skills and experience writing for the web; familiarity with addressing a savvy online audience is a plus. High level of proficiency in written and oral English. Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail. Technical experience with web and social media analytics. Experience and proven success using search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO). Desired (an asset): Knowledge of other language skills, particularly French, Spanish, German.
