Central Utility Plant and Secure Substation Secure Substation Cooling Towers Chillers Fuel Storage CyberFortress Secure Access BUILD-TO-SUIT Water Storage IN NOVATIONPAR KNC. CO M Diesel Fuel Storage Electrical Service Innovation Park (IP) contains the most robust levels of electrical power and redundancy available in Charlotte, North Carolina. Main service is provided to a secure, on-site substation via redundant 100 kv transmission lines (the North Charlotte Black and North Charlotte White transmission routes). The voltage from each transmission line is stepped down to 12.5 kv at the IP switchyard, via independent 12/16/20 MVA transformers. Redundant, parallel 12.5 kv feeders connect to the secure, on-site Central Utility Plant (CUP). Siemens Allis switchgear is utilized to distribute power throughout the campus, and the main switchgear incorporates a tie-breaker switch maintained in the closed position to assure that a power interuption will not have an impact on electrical service. The Innovation Park substation is currently capable of delivering up to 120MW of service to the CyberFortress, of which 40MW could be delivered in a redundant configuration (40MW + 40MW). An upgrade available from Duke Energy would enable up to 120MW of redundant service (120MW + 120MW). The total load metered from Innovation Park is currently 6.0MW. 5 Storage tanks capable of up to 700,000 gallons of diesel fuel storage on-site with direct piping to the CyberFortress equipment yard. Chillers Fully redundant chiller configuration containing four (4) 1,250-ton 4160 volt Trane Centravac chillers. Chilled water is supplied at 42oF and returned at 550F. Redundant chilled water supply/return lines (36 diameter each) directly serve the CyberFortress. Chilled water supply within the CyberFortress is fully encapsulated within a water tight trench system. Cooling Towers Six (6) cooling tower cells, 3750 GPM per cell Chilled Water Storage Five (5) tanks; 100,000 gallons each utilized for the storage of chilled water generated off-peak, when utility rates drop 30%. Water Supply Redundant, diversely routed municipal water mains service the CUP.
