Formatting Guide When you submit a hybrid translation project to Translation Services USA, you have the choice to either enter your text manually or submit a file containing the text you need translated a great time saver if you re a programmer! If you are a developer, you may be familiar with some of the formats we accept. If you send us a file in one of the formats listed below, we can extract the text instantly, then send you back the translation in the original format you sent it, variable names, markup, and all (permitted your file is marked up as the examples listed here). All you ll have to do is plug the new file into your application. The formats we currently accept include: 1. Microsoft Excel (.xls) 2. Microsoft Office Open XML (.xlsx) 3. Android XML (.xml) 4. Ruby YAML (.yml) 5. Blackberry Resource (.rrc) 6. ios Strings (.strings) 7. Java configuration (.properties) 8. Gnu Gettext Protable Object (.po)
.xls and.xlsx Microsoft Excel and Office Open XML file formats. You can submit your text as a spreadsheet formatted into three columns. The top row must contain the two language codes over each column. (See the language codes guide for more details.) The first column can contain any arbitrary labels you want (this text will be ignored). The second must contain the text you want translated. The third must left blank (this will be filled in with the translated text upon completion).
