How to Use the Interactive Class Schedule Banner Self-Service Use the Interactive Class Schedule to find courses that you need for registration. The five digit Course Reference Number (CRN) must be used to register for classes online. 1. Click on the Class Schedule link on the College homepage at www.stlcc.edu. The Class Schedules page is displayed. 2. Select the Online class schedule option from the Quick Links link. NOTE: The schedule can also be accessed from the Banner Self-Service Login menu. Your first step in using the Interactive Class Schedule is to select the school term for the course. 3. Scroll through the Term list to select the option that you need. 4. Then click on the Begin Class Search button. The course option selection page is displayed. NOTE: Subject is the only required field. Revised: 15-SEP-2008 Page 2 of 7
Use the fields on this page as options to narrow your search to find the classes that you need. 5. Use the scroll control on the Subject field to locate and select the subject needed. VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: If you only select the subject and do not use other search options to limit your search, a list of all courses within that subject area are returned. The list will include ALL campuses, days, instructors for the subject, course delivery characteristics, and beginning and ending times for the entire semester. Use as many of the options as possible to limit the number of courses found for your search. You can also limit your search to only one Course Number. 6. Simply enter the three digit number in the Course Number field for the Subject that you have selected. 7. Select a campus from the Location list for courses only at that location. If you have no preference for the location, then the default of "All Campuses" is used. 8. If you need classes that meet only on certain days, click on the days of the week that apply. 9. The Instructor field is used to search for classes taught by a specific faculty member. Use the scroll control to locate and select an instructor if desired. 10. Scroll through the Parts of Term to select either full or part term courses for the search. Your Part of Term options for selecting classes include: All Parts Full Term First Half-Term Second Half-Term Late Start Classes Telecourses Miscellaneous length classes 11. Scroll through the Schedule Type list to select a course presentation method. Or leave the default "All Types" if you have no preference. Your options include: Interactive TV Lab Lecture/Lab Activity-Based Clinical Hybrid Independent Study/SDL Lab/Studio Lecture Lecture / Combination Self-Paced Open Lab TeleWEB Telecourse Web-Based/Internet Work-Place Experience 12. If you need a class that starts after a certain time during the day, select an A.M. or P.M. entry from the Begin Time list. Revised: 15-SEP-2008 Page 3 of 7
13. You can also select a 30 minute increment for classes that start on the half hour using the Minute field. 14. The search may also be limited to classes ending before a certain hour, with a half hour option by using the End Time Hour and Minute fields. 15. The Sessions field allows you to select courses grouped within the following session categories: Arranged Canterbury Program courses Day courses Distance Learning Evening Courses taught abroad Weekend courses 16. You can also search for courses that are grouped by specific common characteristics. Characteristics options include: ALP - Accelerated Learning Program CAP - Capstone - General Education DEVL - Developmental Studies ESL - English as a Second Language EXPR Express/Early Care Educ Prgm FOUN - Foundation - General Education GENE - General Education Elective HON - Honors Section/Course HAFA - Humanities & Fine Arts - General Education LAPL - Life & Physical Science - Lab - General Education LAPS - Life & Physical Science - No Lab - General Education MORQ - Missouri Constitution Requirement SABS - Social & Behavioral Science - General Education SPK Speaking Intensive GenEd WSI Writing & Speaking Intensive WRIT Writing Intensive GenEd 17. After you have selected all of your search options, review them to be certain they are correct. 18. Then click the Search Class button to process your course inquiry. All of the important information about a course can be found on the Interactive Class Schedule screen. The Course Reference Number required for online registration is displayed under the CRN column. The CRN is different for each class section. REMEMBER, the Course Reference Number must be used when registering for classes online. The following important information is displayed for each class section listed on the class schedule screen. The CRN is linked to the Detailed Class Information, which includes: Course Name CRN Course ID Section Number The school term for the inquiry The Academic Level Campus location Schedule type Method of instruction Number of credit hours The class capacity, actual number of students enrolled and the number of seats remaining are displayed. Restrictions for registration The Course Title is linked to the Course Catalog information. The Catalog Entries page will indicate if academic skills proficiency is required to register for a course. A link is provided for prerequisite details. The course catalog entry provides the following information: The course catalog entry provides the following information: Course Number and Title Course Description Credit and Lecture Hours Academic Level and Schedule Type Academic Division and Department within the College You may continue to review the course offerings from your inquiry to find the next class that you need. When you are finished reviewing the class inquiry, click the Back button to return to the course option selection page. You can clear your previous selections and search for new classes by clicking on the Reset button at the bottom of the page. You can also return to the term selection screen, and click on Reset to inquire on a different semester.
