Commenting on the success story, Mr. Abiola Lawal, Group Chief Strategy Officer, Oando Plc who led the implementation team states, We are delighted to celebrate our success story today. Gartner study shows that the industry success rate for ERP implementation is 30 percent hence generally over 70 percent of ERP implementations often fail to reach their objectives due to ineffective change management, system implementation and infrastructure issues. But as a company with world class aspirations, we took steps in the right direction by concentrating on the critical success factors to ensure we record remarkable success. Mr. Lawal further stated that I can attribute our success for the Oracle implementation to a number of key factors: Management support for this project was top class right from the Board to the GCEO and rest of management team; our implementation partner in GTS understands our business and have multiple implementation experience; our Hardware partnership with HP was critical in providing the infrastructure; and our change management and technical implementation teams were well trained and motivated to deliver results. We harnessed our reservoir of local talents with the expertise of our partners to ensure a successful implementation and an end-to end deployment of this world class IT platform which becomes our execution engine for our growth strategies and enables our aspirations for world class processes. He concluded by saying that for us at Oando, this is less about IT but more about the future of the business and growth aspirations. We aspire to be world class in our business functions across our value chain both customer facing and back-end functions and we needed world class processes, people and technology to power this vision to reality. The successful Oracle Project Synergy implementation enables this vision to becoming a reality and provides tremendous value to all our stakeholders; employees, suppliers, customers, shareholders etc. Commenting further, the Managing Director, Oracle Corporation (Africa Operations) Mr. Desi Lopez, states We are proud to provide Oando with the state of the art software needed to actualise its corporate vision. Marketing The Happy Holiday Splash and the Promo Ambassadors This year s edition of the Happy Holiday Splash (the regular public holidays customer reward scheme) assumed a different dimension. For the first time, non members of the retail marketing team volunteered to assist in monitoring the activation of the scheme in Lagos, to ensure the successful achievement of the targeted objectives. The volunteers, from the Head Office were drawn from Corporate Communications, Procurement and Services departments. There also was support from some members of the business development and commercial marketing teams. The process of choosing the volunteers started with an email to members of the identified departments. Interested volunteers were then invited to a formal briefing forum on the modalities and mechanics of the promo and their role as Oando Ambassadors. The enthusiastic ambassadors then chose two participating stations of their choice, an approach that demonstrated freedom in the initiative. According to Rotimi Jenfa, one of the Ambassadors from Corporate Communications, It was a good experience. It was pleasant to see the forecourt personnel engage with the customers on one-on-one selling after my prep talk with the station manager. I believe this initiative will give the forecourt staff the zest and confidence to carryout their task and help the company meet its volume objectives. The Happy Holiday Splash is a customer reward scheme designed with the objective of rewarding loyal customers during public holidays. In October 2007, children of these loyal customers were rewarded with mathematical sets, musical flutes and exercise books. During the last Happy Holiday, the gift was even nobler: Oando Mystery Rewarders went to participating service stations and surprised all customers found at the forecourt with a free 10 liters vouchers and an Oando Christmas card. To be eligible for this surprise gift, the Rewarder just has to meet the customer at the forecourt whether engaged in fuel purchase or not. (R) Jeff Obahor, Business Development Manager, OML and member of the Oando Ambasadors handing over an Oando Insecticide gift to a customer at Awolowo 1 Service Station It was to ensure that the customer is not only well served but also happily rewarded during the Happy Holiday Splash, that the Oando Ambassadors initiative was introduced. To Oando PLC the customer is not only king, but a king worthy of the services of enthusiastic ambassadors. Dealers show zest as Retail organizes Forum The Retail arm of Oando Marketing Limited, OML, Nigeria s leading petroleum product retailers, has organised its annual Dealers Forum around the country. At the meeting, the 2008 objectives and strategies to achieving them were cascaded to the dealers. The meeting was held in Jos, Kaduna and Kano for the northern region, while Dealers from the south were hosted in Benin, Ibadan and Port Harcourt respectively. The Dealers demonstrated their enthusiasm for the fora which with an impressive turnout. Commenting on the meeting, Halliru Lawal, Dealer, Mando Service Station, Kaduna, said, This forum is very good in the sense that it gave us the chance to sit together and interact with Oando Marketing Management. In this meeting complaints have been addressed and I have learnt a lot from the presentations from Engineering and Oando Terminals and Logistics (OTL). The meeting adopted the following as area of focus and action to achieving the 2008 targets: Ensuring that the company values of Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Professionalism and Passion (TRIPP) are entrenched in the daily functions of the forecourt personnel Improve the look and feel of all the services stations, with a view to achieving world class Improve customer service delivery Zero tolerance for any violations of the forecourt rules Improve house keeping The Dealers were further excited by the upward review of their commissions, even as they were asked to adopt a daily maintenance of equipment as an approach to achieving the 2008 set objectives. Michael Oshai, the Chief Marketing Officer- Retail, who led the OML Retail team comments: The objectives for Cross-section of Oando dealers at the forum 2008 are enormous, but I believe with these approaches and strategies we have identified, that the objectives are surmountable. As result compliance to these strategies and approaches will be highly enforced, so expect to get unscheduled monitoring of outlets by the Service Standard unit. OandoNews 4

Upstream OES Consolidates Upstream Position; Acquires es Two wo Swamp Rigs Oando Energy Services, the leading integrated oilfield services company that provides products and services to major upstream companies operating in Nigeria and a subsidiary of Oando PLC was acquired two swamp rigs for upstream operations in the Niger-Delta area, as the company seeks to expand its service offerings to operating companies in Nigeria. The rigs, Searex 6 and Searex 12, with a water depth rating of 25 feet and a drilling depth of 22,000 feet, cost the company over N11 Billion Naira and will be fully managed by Oando Energy Services, in partnership with Frazimex (a local company), with technical assistance provided by Transocean International, a global player in the Oil and Gas industry. The Rigs, which will be fully operational by the end of the first quarter, 2008 after being upgraded, will significantly increase Nigeria s capacity to discover new oil reserves, while boosting her production capacity, as the rigs have been operationally certified for 5-10 years. The purchase of these rigs is the second phase of the company s active participation in oil service space. Over the next 5 years, Oando Energy Services intends to substantially increase its operational rigs in the country in a phased aggressive expansion plan and become a dominant player in the land and swamp rig space. Commenting on the new acquisition, Mr. Wale Tinubu, Group Chief Executive, Oando PLC states; The acquisition of Swamp Rigs by Oando Energy Services highlights our intent to become the number 1 oilfield services company in Nigeria. Our plan is to also invest additional $100 million in rigs acquisition during the year. This development further emphasizes our shift to become a fully integrated energy solutions provider. Negotiations have already commenced for hiring the equipment at excellent day rates to the major exploration companies in the country. The retreat was a huge success as it had various presentations and discussions that bordered around the key issues related to providing excellent services to the Oando Group.
