MOBILE BANKING SECURITY 2 SECURITY It is our priority to keep your personal financial information private. Centric Bank s Online Banking and Mobile Banking use encryption technology, such as SSL (Secure Socket Layer), that prohibits unauthorized users from accessing your accounts. We also employ multi-factor authentication - security questions - that disable your account when those questions are answered incorrectly. It is important to take extra precautions when using your mobile phone for confidential transactions, such as banking, to protect your financial and personal information. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) provides guidelines for mobile device security to reduce the risk of unwanted threat: Set a PIN or password for your phone. To prevent unauthorized access to your phone. Set passwords. Use a different password for each important log-in. Do not modify factory security settings. Your phone may be more susceptible to attacks. Backup and secure your data. You can easily restore the data if your phone is erased or stolen. Install apps from trusted sources. Some may contain malware that can steal information. Understand app permissions. Be cautious about granting access to information on your phone. Install security apps that enable remote wiping. Remotely locate and erase data on the phone. Accept updates and fixes to your software. Software updates reduce your risk of exposure to threats. Be smart on open Wi-Fi networks. Your information is more vulnerable on open networks. Wipe data on your phone before donating, recycling, or reselling. Reset the phone to factory settings. Report a stolen smartphone. It will be added to a universal list to prohibit unauthorized activation. Visit the FCC s website at www.fcc.gov/smartphone-security for more information and detailed tutorials for several phone manufacturers.
