The stainless steel drum that cuts through the building contains Imperial College Business School lecture theatres, and the artwork behind the Main Entrance reception desk is an eye-catching visualisation of the human brain by artist Per Arnoldi, who worked with imaging scientists at the College s Hammersmith Campus to create it. 2 dalby court One of the College s open air social spaces, Dalby Court provides a venue for performances and gatherings. The blue Faculty Building, also designed by Foster + Partners, is home to the College headquarters. The tallest building is the Electrical and Electronic building which has state-of-the-art research and study facilities, including rooftop solar panels, used by students to compare predicted versus actual energy yield. The modern glass Bessemer Building houses Bioengineering and the Institute of Biomedical. Also based on Dalby Court are the Energy Futures Lab and the Grantham Institute for Climate Change two research hubs which focus on addressing the science challenges of today and the future. Cutting through the campus, the walkway is home to a range of retail outlets, including a bank, bookshop, stationery shop and newsagent. It also houses the College s Junior and Senior Common Rooms, providing fresh food and drink for students, staff and visitors. Off the walkway is the ACE Extension, built in the 190s for the Department of Chemical. A unique feature is its Carbon Capture Pilot Plant which extends over four floors of the building. After the optician, enter the Sherfield Building on your left. To continue the tour, please take the stairs or lift to Level 1 and exit the building on the opposite side, onto the Queen s Lawn. 4 sherfield building and the library The Sherfield Building, through which you have just walked, incorporates many student support services like the Careers Advisory Service, Registry, the International Office, Student Counselling, and the Student Hub the one stop shop for all key information and support that students need for everyday life.
