This is your chance to learn something new with LCCA and create memories with new friends. You ll be in the middle of London s buzzing fashion and arts scene, with access to dozens of art galleries, fashion exhibitions, and the flagship stores of some of the biggest fashion brands to inspire you in the course you choose. Plus, there are hundreds of independent cinemas, shops, and theatres to enjoy in your spare time. Our London Summer School programme features our most popular arts courses, all taught by experienced industry experts and professionals. It is the perfect launch pad for international students who want to visit London and learn something at the same time. All of our classes are small, friendly and interactive, with many requiring no prior knowledge so they re open to everyone! 3 Digital Design Experience Could you be the creator of the next Candy Crush Saga? Overview This practical course will teach you about the development processes and key technical concepts that are used in the game and apps industry, and how you can use them to bring your own ideas to life. Students will learn through hands-on work in our state-of-the-art Mac lab, creating apps and computer games themselves to gain a full understanding of the techniques that can be used. This course is perfect for anyone interested in the computer game and applications industry. Whether you want to progress onto more complex software development or learn the basics of an increasingly useful skill, this will give you the knowledge you need. Programming experience is not required. Key Facts This course requires you to be a minimum of 18 years old, be eligible to study in the UK and have a intermediate level of English Duration 2 weeks, 20 hours per week, 4 hours per day Mon Fri, 10am 2pm Intakes June 3 July 6 17 July July 3 14 August August Course modules --Introduction to Adobe Flash --Introduction to Game Maker --Game Development --App Development -- What you will learn Students will come away with an understanding of Adobe Flash, and how to use Flash tools for game construction. We will also teach you principles of Game Maker, and show you how to use Game Maker tools for game construction. By the end of the two weeks, you ll be using this software to develop your own games and mobile apps. Students will create --An Avatar Interface Game, a Treasure Hunt Game, or a Picture Puzzle Game using Adobe Flash --An adventure game using Game Maker --A biography app --A city tour app 5

4 Could you be the next David Bailey? Fashion and Photography Experience Overview If you want to learn more about the exciting world of fashion styling and editorial photography, this course is the one for you. Through lectures, practical workshops, and visits to exhibitions, you will learn how to restyle existing garments and create a specific look for a fashion shoot, as well as how to photograph in a digital studio and on location. Working individually and in teams, you will develop your own ideas and create a fashion photo-shoot from concept to execution, creating customised garments along the way to reflect different themes. Make sure you bring your own camera (Digital SLR) for this course. Course modules --Introduction to fashion styling --Introduction to fashion photography --Introduction to studio lighting --Introduction to location photography --Fundamentals of fashion history --Exhibition visits --Fashion customisation What you will learn This course will help you understand the purpose of fashion styling in the apparel industry. Students will be shown how to produce fashion photographs using the functions of a digital SLR camera. By the end of the two weeks, you will be competent in the use of studio lighting, and be able to direct a photo shoot. 5 Tuition Fees In order to enrich your learning experience, we allow you to combine courses, to create your own bespoke learning experience. Option 1 Fashion & Photography 2 week course 850 +English 1,135 Option 2 Digital Design 2 week course 850 Package Option week course 1,445 +English 1,930 LCCA General English Overview Alongside both of these courses, you can take our Summer School English classes to improve your language skills. Our General English programme is suitable for people at any level of English, from elementary to advanced this is your opportunity to improve your skills with one of the most widely spoken languages in the world! This course covers reading, writing, speaking and listening, as well as helping you practice your vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. You ll soon be able to confidently use English in a range of everyday situations. Library Services During their studies, students will have full access to our library services. The LCCA library provides books and a journal collection (over 2,300 volumes) specialising in fashion, photography, fine arts, performing arts, design & media, business & tourism and hospitality, as well as online resources to support the research and creative practice of students and academic staff. There are 10 study spaces, in addition to Library Computer Labs, providing a total of 12 computers for students with software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and others, as well as photocopying, printing and scanning machines. Through the library, students also have access to popular online resources such as: WGSN, JSTOR, Keynote, Mintel, Emerald, Worldbank, FT.com and Business Source. 9

6 FAQs 1. How do I apply for the Summer School? Please reserve your place on the Summer School by returning the completed form found on the website at summerschool to info@lcca.org.uk Forms must be scanned electronically; please do not send a photograph of the form. Applications must be sent along with a scanned proof of ID (passport, ID card or driving license) 2. How do I pay? Payments can be made by bank transfer, or by card over the phone. Please call +44 (0) to speak to an advisor, or info@lcca.org.uk to request a payment form. 3. Where will the course take place? The course will take place in LCCA s main Campus in Sheraton House, Great Chapel Street, London, W1F 8FN. The campus is located in Soho, close to Soho Square and the nearest tube stations are Leicester Square and Tottenham Court Road. As part of the course you will visit galleries, exhibitions and points of interest that are relevant for your course. You will enjoy the parks in London and gain a real insight into what it would be like to live and study in London. 4. Where is the accommodation located? You will have the choice of accommodation and we will provide a brochure with your offer letter for the course. We can help you with booking this, or you can research into what is available yourself. Accommodation ranges from 140 per week in a hostel, to 360 in a luxurious apartment, it depends on your budget and what zone you would like to stay in. Central London, which is zone 1 and 2 is the most expensive. Most accommodation providers are in 3 and 4, though you can find some more central. 5. Do I need to purchase travel insurance? We recommend that all students purchase travel insurance prior to attending the Summer School. Insurance should cover the duration of your stay in London. 6. Do I need a visa? Students do not need a visa if they are travelling to the UK on a passport issued by a country within the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) or Switzerland. If students are travelling from a country outside of the EU/EEA you will need to apply for permission to come to the UK and apply as a Student Visitor. You must ensure that you carry a copy of your offer letter for the course along with your Student Visitor Visa letter as evidence of confirmation of your place on the course. 7. What materials do I need to bring? For the Fashion and Photography course you must bring a digital SLR camera with you. The Digital Design course will mostly use the computers in the Mac Lab on campus. 8. How much spending money will I need to bring with me? You will need to buy your own meals and depending on your accommodation, this will include breakfast, lunch and dinner each day and on the weekends. We estimate that 200 per week would be more than sufficient to cover this and any other expenses you have during your time in London. 9. Do I receive a certificate at the end of the course? Yes, on successful completion of the course and full attendance, you will receive an LCCA Summer School Certificate on the last day of the course. If you do the combined four week course, you will receive two certificates, one for each subject. 11
