Galley refurbishment IMPROVEMENT? CONSUME LESS ENERGY WITH CAPTURE JET The Capture Jet technology in Halton hoods prevents the heat and impurities produced by cooking appliances from spreading to the work area. Compared to conventional exhaust-only hoods, Capture Jet is up to 30% more efficient and it reduces required airflow thus saving weight, space and energy consumption. The Halton Capture Jet technology does not necessarily require a separate supply air duct. The Capture Jet Fan takes the required air from the galley. This saves space as well as refurbishment and operational costs. UV LIGHT TECHNOLOGY SPEAKS FOR ITSELF The UV light technology is an excellent choice, not only for new building but also for refurbishment projects as Halton s solution doesn t affect the outer dimension of the hood. UV light is the most efficient grease filtration technology in the market that also helps to reduce fire risks and the need for the expensive cleaning of the ducts. The pictures on the next page speak for themselves. HVAC solutions for refurbishment projects

SUPPLY AIR / Halton KWT hood includes a supply air panel. Halton Marine also manufacturers low velocity ceiling diffusers (TCG) for galleys. ASHRAE recommends using low velocity ceiling diffusers in galleys. AUTOMATIC WASHING / Halton water wash hoods are equipped with an automatic washing system that cleans the filters, UV lamps and exhaust plenum at the set time. UV-LIGHT EFFICIENCY/ Indisputable filtration efficiency. Above: hood damper of a hood that uses UV light technology. Below: hood damper of a hood without UV light technology. CAPTURE EFFICIENCY/ Halton Capture Jet prevents the heat and impurities from spreading into the work area. CONSTRUCTION / Continuosly welded construction. Halton KWH and KWT hoods include an in-built certified fire damper in the exhaust connection. GALLEYS 7

Save this Airflow Consume only what is strictly needed M.A.R.V.E.L. Demand-Controlled Ventilation Operating Day IMPROVEMENT? UP TO 50% ENERGY SAVING COMBINED WITH CAPTURE JETS Halton offers a unique system that can save significant amount of energy in galleys without compromising the comfort and functionality. Halton s patented method of Demand-Controlled Ventilation called M.A.R.V.E.L. adjusts hood exhaust airflow based on the status of the cooking appliance. This is done automatically and individually for each hood. AVAILABLE FOR REFURBISHMENT PROJECTS In conventional systems, galley ventilation is maintained at a constant level, which has been designed for the highest expected level. In the Halton system, the exhaust and supply air volumes of the ventilation vary according to real need. The system detects the status of cooking equipment by using sensors and an algorithm designed for galley application. M.A.R.V.E.L. also provides comfortable conditions by supervising and maintaining the humidity and temperature levels inside the galley by adjusting the supply and exhaust fans. The result of M.A.R.V.E.L. system is an optimized energy consumption according to real need. HVAC solutions for refurbishment projects

TECHNOLOGY/ The system continuously measures the actual status of each piece of galley equipment, whether switched off, heating up, or in the process of cooking and adjusts the exhaust and supply air flow rates automatically according to demand. GALLEYS 9

Intelligent control systems for galley ventilation IMPROVEMENT? USER-FRIENDLY INTERFACE MANAGING ALL INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES The touch screen is the heart of the galley ventilation control system. It has been developed to handle and manage all the innovative Halton galley ventilation technologies such as the UV light technology, water wash system and demand-based ventilation system M.A.R.V.E.L.. The FCP touch screen is easy to use due to the visual displays. The screen displays individual hoods with clear pictures and shows the hood statuses. The system enables the naming of different hoods connected to the control cabinet in order to improve understanding of what is going on in the galley. If the hoods utilize M.A.R.V.E.L. demand-based ventilation technology, the touch screen gives feedback on energy efficiency and compares it to the system without M.A.R.V.E.L. The FCP touch screen that can be integrated on control cabinet or even inside the chef's office, can manage up to 32 hoods (depending on the integrated technology). Demand-based cabin ventilation IMPROVEMENT? UP TO 35% ENERGY SAVINGS WITHOUT LOSING ANY COMFORT EFURBISHMENT PROJECTS Halton offers energy efficiency solutions for cabins by providing local and advanced energy efficiency systems. Local energy efficiency solution Air-conditioning is forced into standby mode when the passenger removes the keycard from its holder. Even though unnecessary cooling and heating is limited while the cabin is not occupied, the indoor climate conditions are simply maintained at a comfortable level. The individual comfort level is quickly re-established when the passenger returns to the cabin. If the passenger opens the balcony door, the cabin ventilation unit saves energy by preventing unnecessary cooling. With local technology, it is possible to achieve savings up to 8% (VAV or FCU unit) in cabin HVAC energy consumption. Unlike the advanced system, the local solution for energy efficiency does not require a network. Advanced energy efficiency solution (VAV) One of the best benefits from the owner's point of view is active operation between AHU (Air Handling Unit) and terminal units. Data from terminal units is collected, calculated and used to control the AHU in two ways: 1. Adjusting the fan operation to optimal level Data from the terminal units is collected, calculated and used to control the AHU's fan speed. 2. Minimizing the need to cool down the air inside the AHU Based on the terminal unit reheater's utilization rates, AHU's cooling and heating valves are controlled to prevent unnecessary air-conditioning. This also minimizes unnesseary electrical heating inside the terminal unit. With Halton Marine's advanced energy efficiency technology, it is possible to save up to 35% in cabin HVAC energy consumption. HVAC solutions for refurbishment projects

Monitor your cabin comfort and savings IMPROVEMENT? EASY ADJUSTMENT, CONTROL AND MONITORING VIA NETWORK Halton Marine cabin units / fancoils can be connected to a network (LON or Ethernet) in order to improve energy efficiency and implement the Halton supervision system (SCADA). Halton SCADA (Supervision, Control, and Data Acquisition) is a system that controls a total cabin ventilation system. Ventilation units (VAV cabin units or FCU fancoils) are easy to connect to the existing Ethernet network with Halton network adapters. The Halton Marine supervision software runs on a computer and offers an excellent tool for HVAC engineers and hotel management. The software offers an overview from a cabin ventilation system, to each cabin that can be individually adjusted, controlled and monitored via network. The software enables the changing of parameters and set-points, for individual cabins or for cabin groups, as well as printed listings of different elements that have a direct impact on indoor climate conditions, safety and energy-efficiency. The supervision system can also display the history data and trends. Symbolic representation of the process and clear displays make the software easy and convenient to use. Halton Marine fire dampers for safer seas IMPROVEMENT? UPGRADE YOUR SHIP WITH SMOKE-TIGHT FIRE DAMPERS FDB2 - MOST WIDELY SOLD MARINE FIRE DAMPER IN THE WORLD Safety is the most important factor board ships, where a fire could put people s life in serious risk unless necessary precautions are taken. Therefore, it is essential that the equipment chosen to prevent fire progression in a ventilation ductwork is top-class. Fire and gas dampers are typically installed to prevent the spread of fire, smoke and gas between fire zones. Because smoke and toxic gases can be more dangerous than fire itself, it is important that the fire dampers also prevent smoke from spreading. Halton is the manufacturer supplying smoketight fire dampers. The patented blade structure of Halton's FDB2 fire and gas dampers contains special seals that are effective up to 300 C (572 F) and thermally activated graphite seals that expand when the temperature reaches 150 C (302 F) in the ductwork. The construction of the damper contains a lockable blade structure. In addition, the seal has been forced to expand between the end of the blade and the cleat. These unique safety feature ensures air tightness and low leakage of Halton FDB2 dampers. FDB2 FIRE AND GAS DAMPER / FDB2 fire and gas dampers are always manufactured according to customers' needs. Agile production enables fast delivery times. HVAC solutions for refurbishment projects

ARCTIC TEST FDB2 / The damper was tested for over three months in cold conditions (-35 C). The damper operated normally for the full duration of the test. After cold conditions, the fire damper was tested in fire conditions. The temperature in the test chamber was set to 1000 C and the test pressure to 1000 Pa. The test results show that the cold conditions had no affect on the operation of the fire damper. FDB2 IN FIRE CONDITIONS 300 PERFORMANCE OF FDB2 / FDB2 is truly desgined for fire. Tightness of FDB2 improves substantially under fire conditions. Typically, steel deformation during fire increases the damper leakage and allows the smoke and other toxic gases to spread out into the ductwork. 250 Leakage (m 3/h) standard fire and gas damper 200 150 100 FDB2 50 0 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 55 60 Minutes (from 20 to 500 C in 5 m inutes) 19

Droplet separators IMPROVEMENT? BETTER PROTECTION OF VENTILATION SYSTEMS Droplet separators are used to protect e.g. ventilation systems, air handling units, diesel engines and marine gas turbines. Halton Marine droplet separators are designed for demanding applications, such as marine, oil & gas, chemical, nuclear and paper industries, where the easy installation, high-efficiency and special design of the separators play an important role. Weather conditions will undoubtedly vary, but even in the calmest weather conditions, the air contains salty spray particles. Better filtration efficiency means better protection, which directly results in maintenance, repair and replacement cost savings. Halton Marine offers a selection of highefficiency droplet separators according to the customers' needs that are easy to install, easy to access and can produce savings in life-cycle costs. HVAC solutions for refurbishment projects

DROPLET SEPARATORS / Can be tailored according to the customers' needs. The construction of a two-stage droplet separator includes a separator, frame and filter. Net and mask louvre are available as an option. The droplet separator has reached A-Class results. DROPLET SEPARATORS 21
