SUMMER SCHOOL organized by the Hepatology Committee of ESPGHAN Paediatric Hepatology: from basic science to daily practice Topic: Paediatric Hepatology: from basic science to daily practice Local organisers: Florence Lacaille (Paris) Thierry Lamireau (Bordeaux) Course faculty: Members of the ESPGHAN Hepatology Committee, and other experts as needed (pathologist, radiologist, paediatric surgeon). Educational goals: to provide an updated knowledge on the pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the most common liver diseases in children ; to provide well-founded advice for the management of these children and referral criteria. Educational methods: conferences given by expert paediatric hepatologists from various European centres, leaving enough time for discussion in a very interactive way ; case reports previously submitted by participants, and discussed together. After the summer school, the participants should: have a complete overview of paediatric hepatology; have a current practical knowledge about the approach to children with liver diseases ; be able to discuss scientific literature on paediatric hepatology. The limited number of participants (45) will give ample opportunities for discussion and networking between participants and the faculty members. CME credits The paediatric hepatology summer school is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net The paediatric hepatology summer school is designated for a maximum of, or up to 18 European CME credits (ECMEC).
