Integrity, expertise and commitment anywhere in the world. The world of business is just that a global economy no longer restricted by geographical barriers. Now, more than ever, clients require their law firm s expertise to transcend borders and continents. Formed in 1990, the International Alliance of Law Firms ( the Alliance ) is a global affiliation of select law firms, each of which strives to provide its clients with the best legal services. Alliance membership allows member firms and their clients to grow and thrive in the new world economy. International Alliance of Law Firms www.ialawfirms.com 1

The Alliance s rapid growth is testimony to the many advantages of local representation in foreign jurisdiction. From the complexities of legislation passed in different countries to expansion into foreign markets, you, the client, have a resource who knows the legal lay of the land. Our selective membership ensures integrity, expertise and commitment throughout the Alliance s network, providing members and clients with a powerful and global competitive advantage. Whether you are a member, a client, or are interested in joining the Alliance, explore the world of excellence that is the International Alliance of Law Firms. We bring together the best in International Law. International Alliance of Law Firms www.ialawfirms.com 2

Global standards of excellence. The Alliance consists of independent law firms who can provide representation in many major geographical areas of the world. Our selection process ensures that clients of all member firms are served by practices similar to the one with which they do business in their country of residence; member firms must meet rigorous criteria. All Alliance member firms have undergone a selection procedure, thus they are expected to provide: Professional excellence The highest standard of ethics Timeliness Service strength Practical solutions Knowledge of local business culture International Alliance of Law Firms www.ialawfirms.com 3

The power of integration. The problems facing businesses change continuously and vary greatly from country to country. Alliance members are committed to delivering an integrated solution to the most complex problems. A system of quick and efficient lines of communication enhances client service. Alliance meetings allow members to form strong, lasting partnerships based on a mutual goal become a stronger global practitioner and client asset. Member partners can assist with every facet of expansion into foreign markets: Commercial negotiations Choice of corporate structure/entity Dispute-related issues and litigation Locating suitable premises Hiring and firing local employees Examining tax-effective structures Sourcing grants and incentives Arranging meetings with local authorities and professionals International Alliance of Law Firms www.ialawfirms.com 4

Each member of the Alliance is an independent law firm and it, not the Alliance, is responsible for the work it carries out. The Alliance enables member firms typically first-ranking, mediumsized practices to remain independent and maintain a strong position in the marketplace. Advantages and resources for clients of member firms include: All member firms can work in the English language. Access to a wealth of local knowledge in a wide range of jurisdictions. Real-time understanding of new legislation in different countries. A commitment to an integrated solution to even the most complex problems. International Alliance of Law Firms www.ialawfirms.com 5

Membership is selective. Benefits for clients are immeasurable. Clients and prospective clients of Alliance firms should know that membership is only open to law firms with a reputation for excellence in their local jurisdiction. Chosen firms are committed to the highest standards of professional, ethical and timely legal services and do not belong to a competing association or organization. The Alliance follows the general principle of having only one member firm in each jurisdiction. The application and selection process to become a member of the Alliance is comprehensive. Prospective members complete a questionnaire reviewed by the Executive. Following a satisfactory review of the candidate s completed questionnaire, a representative of a member firm makes a personal due diligence visit to the candidate s office to meet with partners of the firm. Because personal contact is considered an important element of the selection procedure, representatives of the candidate firm attend at least one annual meeting of the Alliance as observers.
