Project Completion Report Strategic Human Resource Management for Successful Foreign Direct Investment in APEC May 15, 2015 Boracay, the Philippines HRDWG CBN Institute for International Studies and Training - IIST (Japan) Project Background FDI inflows within APEC have increased over the past years and continue to boost economic growth in the region. This trend has created tremendous opportunities for enterprises to set up operations overseas, as well as for local firms to partner with FDI. Successful FDI depends on the introduction of appropriate HRM systems which positively affect the performance of local workforce. This project was carried out to build the capacities of entrepreneurs and managers engaged in FDI for establishing effective HRM systems in a company s foreign affiliates. Boracay, the Philippines 1
