Professor Tan-Kin Wang Vice Dean of Student Affairs 1. Division of Admissions, Division of Registration and Curriculum, Division of Academic Exchange and Cooperation, and Division of International Affairs please update at least one message on the News Letter of Study at NTOU Website. In the Committee of International Affairs, all Divisions please concisely report the most important and recent messages posted in Study at NTOU. 2. Division of Academic Exchange and

3 Cooperation please sets up SOP for regularly gathering information about international conferences and international academic exchange which teachers and students of NTOU have attended. 3. Division of International Affairs needs to raise the evaluating index by continuously promoting the program of Host Family and English Language Partner. Professor San-Shyan Lin Vice President 1. Division of Registration and Curriculum please compiles the courses from every Department and Institute which were taught or can be instructed in English. 2. Review the evaluating index of Ministry of Education s program Project for Promoting Internationalization of University in 2010 regularly. Agenda of the Meeting: No Discussions, issues, decisions, key actions, assignments etc 1 Issue: To undertake the Dual Degree Program with Griffin University-Australia, please give specific plans for practical implementation. Resolution: NTOU has signed the agreement of sister school with Griffin

4 University-Australia on 2009 April 16 th. College of Engineering and College of Electrical and Computer Science please provide details of undergraduate curriculum which will be taught in English and draw up protocol of Dual Degree Program agreement. 2 Issue: Discuss the policy of planning, establishing, and functioning of International Alumni Association. Resolution: Model universities with excellent Internationalization (such as Chung Yuan Christian University, Tunghai University, and Feng Chia University) have great achievement of international students recruitment assisted by their alumni associations in Southeast Asia. Since many international students of NTOU have returned to their home country already, the information of international alumni can be collected by adding international students of NTOU to Facebook and Twitter. Division of Admissions please visits the delegates of Malaysian Alumni and requests for assistance in promoting recruitment of international students in the Malaysian recruiting fair during 2010 July 14 th and 2010 July 22 nd. Department of Aquaculture please provides the newest condition of international graduates constantly for us to further contact with international alumni. 3 Issue: Discuss the preparation and division of the work for the interview of Project for Promoting Internationalization of University in 2010 by Ministry of Education. Resolution: 1. Seven commissioners of Higher Education Foundation will visit NTOU to evaluate the learning environment in university for

5 international students. 2. The focus of the visiting would be the current condition of internationalization, learning environment without language obstacle, aid of learning for international students, promotion of English website, assistance of job hunting for international students, and planning and functioning the International Alumni Association. Please provide the above information for evaluation before 2010 May 21 st. The pre-meeting will be launched on 2010 May Issue: Discuss the structure and business of Office of International Affairs. Resolution: This case will be discussed in the conference of academic affairs on 2010 May 20 th. The location of Office of International Affairs will be discussed in the next meeting of Committee of International Affairs. Dr. Yuan-Nan Hu from Griffith University-Australia shares the experience of internationalization of Griffith University: 1. To build up the reporting system from professors for academic exchange abroad and to encourage professors to visit NTOU s sister schools or the schools signed collaborative memos with NTOU. 2. To update the expertise of NTOU s professors on both Chinese and English websites so that professors in other countries can join the research at NTOU. 3. In the overseas recruitment, the cooperation with education consultancy can be helpful for promoting recruitment. 4. To adopt the way of recruitment of international students from overseas colleges. Students can get certificates of Dual Degree by studying in NTOU

6 first and transfer to the overseas colleges 3 years later. 5. To assign a professor from each department or institute to join the committee of promoting internationalization and to discuss international affairs regularly. 6. By sending s every month for requesting faculty to provide information about their international activities. 7. Asia Pacific Education Fairs will be launched at National Taiwan University in April, NTOU can apply for a membership to communicate with other universities. Conclusions of Chairperson 1. College of Engineering and College of Electrical and Computer Science please provide details of undergraduate curriculum which will be taught in English and draw up protocol of Dual Degree Program agreement. 2. The information of international alumni can be collected by adding international students of NTOU to Facebook and Twitter.
