SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION/COMMUNITY ACTION GROUPS IN OAKLAND COUNTY Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. SERVICES PROVIDED: There exist throughout Oakland County a broad range of citizen action organizations whose purpose is to work to prevent abuse of alcohol and other drugs. These organizations are involved in the education of parents and young people about the consequences of alcohol and other drug use. VOLUNTEERS: In these groups, help local school teams of teachers/counselors, parents and students to present education programs, parenting seminars, student forums, etc. Also, these groups study long-term solutions to the problems of substance abuse and sponsor positive alternative activity and support services for youth. Most of these organizations welcome volunteer help.
