1 Northwestern Health Sciences University Mental Health Resource List Revised April 2011 Crisis Counseling Services Statewide Crisis Services Crisis Connection Crisis Connection provides free 24-hour crisis counseling by telephone Toll Free MN Men s Line Organization provides free 24-hour crisis counseling to men and those who care about them. It is a service of the Initiative for Violence Free Families of Ramsey and Hennepin Counties MENS National Suicide Prevention Lifeline This is a 24-hour crisis line for people in danger of harming themselves. Statewide: TALK County Specific Crisis Services Acute Psychiatric Services (Hennepin County) Provide 24 hour crisis intervention and psychiatric evaluation on a walk-in basis. Hennepin County Medical Center 701 Park Ave Minneapolis, MN hour Suicide Hotline: Ramsey County Mental Health Center Crisis Program Ramsey County directly provides emergency services through the Adult Mental Health Crisis Unit. The crisis unit provides phone and outreach services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Walk-in hours are from 8am-4pm. Fixed fee, but no one is turned away if unable to pay. Callers will then access specific information about shelter and transitional housing programs in the counties from which they are calling. Grief Counseling Services Center for Grief, Loss and Transition Organization provides specialized therapy and education in the areas of complicated grief, trauma, and life transition Grand Avenue St. Paul, MN, Minnesota Sudden Infant Death Center Organization provides information, counseling, and support to anyone experiencing a sudden and unexpected infant death from any cause. County funding is available for Hennepin County residents with children under 18 years of age who are uninsured or under insured Bryant Ave S Minneapolis, MN Domestic Violence Casa de Esperanza Organization provides crisis counseling and assistance to women and children impacted by domestic violence. Organization also runs a short term shelter for battered women. This organization mainly works with clients from the Latino population. Crisis Line: (bilingual Spanish & English): Domestic Abuse Project Organization provides mental health services to both men that are engaging in abusive and violent behavior and survivors of domestic abuse. This organization also serves children that have been impacted by domestic abuse. Mental health services are provided on a sliding fee scale. DAP also provides free legal advocacy to victims / survivors of domestic violence at the Minneapolis city hall advocacy office. They provide 72 hour crisis nursery services as well as a 24 hour crisis phone line for parents. Golden Valley Shelter 5400 Glenwood Avenue Golden Valley, MN Hour Parent Help Line: Lutheran Social Services LSS provides a crisis nursery, which is a confidential service offering short-term, safe care for children from infancy through 12 years of age. This care may be provided by a licensed day care provider or may extend to licensed overnight care. The service is provided for families who are experiencing significant levels of stress which may lead to the abuse or neglect of their child. This service is available in: Mankato, Duluth and St. Cloud. 6
