How to Fill Out the Lone Star College System Application (designed by Maria Martinez- CARE Coordinator) 1. THE APPLICATION WORKS BEST WITH INTERNET EXPLORER! Go to http://www.lonestar.edu/ 2. Hover over ADMISSIONS. www.lonestar.edu/ Hover over Admissions 3. Click on APPLY FOR ADMISSION. Click on Apply for Admission
4. A new window will pop-up that says Lone Star College System Online Application. Under NEW CREDIT STUDENTS, click on ADMISSIONS APPLICATION. Click on Apply for Admissions
5. A new window will open. Click on the link that says Click Here to Create an Account. Click this link to create an account. 6. This is the PRE-application process to get access to the official application. Fill in the blanks with your information.
7. Make sure For your birthdate, you CANNOT type in the box. You need to click the calendar icon and select the correct date. DOUBLE CHECK THE BIRTH YEAR! Click this icon to fill in Click the the CALENDAR Date of ICON to select your Birth birth date. Double check the birth year.
8. Fill in the rest of the information and create an EASY TO REMEMBER username and password. 9. Once the account has been created, a confirmation will appear. Click OK.
10. Once you click OK, you will be taken back to the Application Account screen. Use the username and password you just created to login to the official application. Fill in Username and Password. Login. 11. A new screen will open that starts the official application. DO NOT use the back button or you will lose everything you have done. You can use the links in the blue box if you need to move around. Otherwise, you will have to start from the beginning.
12. Make sure your FIRST and LAST name are spelled correctly. Make sure your DATE of birth is entered correctly. Click Next. 13. Pick your citizenship status. Being an immigrant does NOT disqualify you from attending Lone Star College. Click the Military Status box ONLY if your parent was in the military. Click Next. Select your citizenship status. Click ONLY if parent was in the military!!
14. Fill out your current address, current phone and current email address information. 15. After you have entered your phone and email, enter your EMERGENCY CONTACT information. Type their information into the boxes. If the address is the same as where you live, click on the box stating the address is the same. Click Next. Emergency Contact Click if you and your emergency contact live at the same address.
16. Enter your ethnicity. If you are of mixed race, you may select more than one box. Click Next. 17. The next screen is a survey page. SKIP THIS PAGE BY HITTING NEXT. Skip this page
VC 18. Enter the reason why you are thinking of attending Lone Star North Harris College. Most (but not all) student select Earn Credits to Transfer (this means the credits you earn you eventually want to transfer to a different university) or Earn an Associate s Degree- 2 Yrs (this means you want to earn a two year degree, like a degree for EMS or Welding). Click Next. One choice Second choice
19. Select the term you are applying for. Then select the program you are interested in. Most (but not all) students will select either A.A. (Associates of Arts- this program covers the majority of programs at North Harris) or the A.S. (Associates of Science- this is if you know you are DEFINTELY interested in a science oriented program). Select Pick which the term term you you want want to START to START college classes. classes. A.A. (Associates of Arts- this program covers the majority of programs at North Harris) A.S. 20. The next screen will have you select the campus you will earn credits from. Every campus is selected. UNCHECK all of them EXCEPT NORTH HARRIS. The SAVE button is now available. SAVE your work! Notice all boxes are checked. Uncheck all of them EXCEPT North Harris. The SAVE button is now available. SAVE your work! 21. Once you have North Harris checked. Click SEARCH. It will bring up the college and program you selected from the screen before. Select the program. A new box will appear below. Click the round button and then click CONFIRM. North Harris is ONLY checked. Select the round button. Click SEARCH and the program you picked from before will appear. Click CONFIRM
22. A confirmation box of your selection will appear. Click Next. Confirmation of choice. 23. Since you are applying while STILL in high school, you need to select the correct situation. ONLY if you are a senior, will you select the button that says I will graduate PRIOR to attending college. If you are NOT A SENIOR, you will select I will NOT graduate PRIOR to attending college. Select ONLY if you are a senior. Select if you are NOT Select a senior!! if you are NOT a senior.
24. Since you are still in high school, you need to enter your high school information. Select the button that says High School inside US. Then click on HIGH SCHOOL SEARCH. Click Here You need to look for your school DO NOT FILL IN! Leave these boxes BLANK! 25. To pick your high school, you will enter in information related to your school. Enter in at least the state and YOUR school name. Select the correct school you attend. Enter information Pick YOUR correct school and hit SELECT.
26. The school code is now entered. Now enter your graduation date. You will need to click on the CALENDAR ICON to pull up the calendar. Select JUNE 1 st and your GRADUATION YEAR. Unless you have taken college classes from a different college, you do NOT have to enter any college information. Click Next. School code is filled in DO Leave NOT these FILL IN! boxes BLANK! Click the CALENDAR ICON to select graduation date. Select June 1 st and your graduation year. NOTHING needs to be entered here unless you have taken college classes from a different college.
27. Now you will need to enter questions about where you live. Do NOT hit next until you click the blue link that says Answer Texas Residency Questionnaire and answer the questions. Click this link. 28. The first question is asking if you have attended college in the past year. 29. The second question is asking if you live in Texas. 30. The third question is asking if you will graduate high school BEFORE you start taking college classes. Only answer yes if you are a senior. 31. The fourth question is asking if you file your own taxes and are 100% taking care of yourself.
32. The fifth question is asking if your parents or guardian still take care of your needs which makes you dependent on them. 33. If you are saying you are a resident of Texas, is it because your parent is a U.S. citizen or a resident? The answer to this question does not prevent you from attending Lone Star College. 34. The next question wants to know if your parent/ guardian lives in Texas. 35. If your parent/ guardian lives in Texas, the next two questions want to know for how long and the main reason they live in Texas. 36. The last question will have you enter your school DISTRICT. Type in the name and select the correct one. You may have to click on the magnifying glass to make sure the computer has your answer recorded in the box correctly. You might have to click on the magnifying glass to record your answer.
37. Once the residency portion has been filled in, a statement box will ask you to verify the information you entered is correct. Click the CONFIRM box and then click SUBMIT. Once everything is entered, click this box to confirm. This statement should appear if everything has been entered. Hit SUBMIT. 38. Once the residency portion is complete, the link name changes and you can click NEXT. The link statement has now changed. 39. This screen is informing you of Texas requirement for students to get the Bacterial Meningitis shot before a student can attend any Texas university. The shot is only required if you take classes ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS. Check the box and click NEXT. Check this box.
40. This box is informing you that it is each student s responsibility to take care of their financial obligations. Check the box and click NEXT. Check this box. 41. This box is certifying that the information you have provided is correct and may be used by the Lone Star College System for reporting purposes. Click SUBMIT ONCE. This screen takes a while to process so be patient. After hitting the submit button, this tells you it is processing the application. Be patient. Check this box. Check this box. Click SUBMIT ONCE.
42. Once the application has finished processing, a screen will appear with your Lone Star ID and Lone Star username. WRITE IT DOWN SOMEWHERE SAFE. If the screen tells you to contact the help desk, let the counselor or advisor know and they can pull this information for you. Once you have your ID and username, you can create your password. WRITE THIS DOWN SOMEWHERE SAFE! Click here to create your password.
43. Each of these items MUST be met in order to create a password. Once you create your password, WRITE IT DOWN SOMEWHERE SAFE! 44. Once you create your password, you will develop security questions in case you forget your password. You can pick the questions from the list OR make up your own questions. The answers must go in the answer box and are CASE SENSITIVE! WRITE ANSWERS DOWN! Click SUBMIT. You can pick a question from the list. Put answer in ANSWER BOX! Put answer in ANSWER BOX! OR you can make up your own security question.
45. Congratulations! You are done with the application!!!
