1 The MBTS Emergency Alert System will provide you with warning for events affecting your safety on or near the Midwestern Seminary campus. To sign up for these alerts you must complete the following steps. NOTE: ALL steps must be completed, or your account will not be properly configured. You are encouraged to include contact information for family or other loved ones so they can be notified in the event of an emergency. I. Register/ Sign Up 1. Visit 2. Choose Sign Me Up!
2 3. Complete the required information, click the box to agree to the Bb Terms of Use and then click the Continue button at the bottom of the window. 4. NOTE: At this point you will see the message shown below. Log-in to your account in order to complete the required steps. (Note: The will most likely be sent your Junk ) 5. Once you have received your confirmation and clicked the link within the , you will be directed back to the Midwestern Emergency Alert System Bb Connect site and asked to select security questions in case you need to reset your password. Select questions and supply the answers. Remember to click Save when finished. 6. You will then see a confirmation page. Choose Login
3 7. The first time you login you will be presented with a screen to associate your account properly with Midwestern Seminary. You will need to enter the last 11 digits of your Midwestern Seminary ID number. You can locate your ID number by looking at your Midwestern Seminary Keycard (Note: Depending on when your ID number was created, some may only require the last 9 or 10 digits. If using 11 digits does not work try only the last 9 or 10 digits). Then click Submit 8. Next enter your student or staff address associated with the Midwestern Seminary and choose Submit 9. Choose Associate 10. Verify the contact information that was pre-loaded in the system and choose Next
4 11. If you desire to add additional methods of contract, you may do so on this screen by choosing the Add to add an address or Add Phone to enter a new phone number. Edit a device by hovering over the Device you wish to edit and then clicking on the Pencil Icon. Be sure to click Save after making any changes. If you choose to enter a home address by clicking Add Address, this information can be used to alert to imminent weather threats in the Kansas City metro that may affect you (or exclude you from receiving these notifications if you do not live in the metro). NOTE: It is very important before you click Next if you desire to receive alert text messages to your mobile device by clicking the mobile device you choose to add this feature. Then check the box next to the word Text and click Save.* *If you choose to select text for any of your phones, messages and data rates may apply depending on your cellphone contract. Midwestern Seminary will not be responsible for any such charges associated with text messages should you choose not to opt-out. You can stop Texts that you previously signed up for by returning to your Bb Connect account and editing your Contact Information. Then choose Next
5 12. Check the box to each notification you would like to receive. Emergency is default. The Outreach Subscription option is used for non-critical/life threatening notices such as weather related school closures. Then choose Next 13. Now tell us how you would like to be reached. To indicate your preferences, hovering over the Device you wish to edit and then clicking on the Pencil Icon. Then click Done You have now completed the setup process!
6 II. If you have previously registered for the MBTS Emergency Alert System, follow these steps to verify your contact information. 1. Visit 2. Choose Log-In 3. Choose the option Edit Contact Information 4. Once all contact information has been verified/added you have completed the process.
