1 ` Steps to Applying to the TWU Pre-Licensure BS in Nursing Program IMPORTANT! You must be a valid TWU student to apply to our nursing program. You do not have to be currently enrolled, but you do need to be eligible to enroll. Do not submit a NursingCAS application yet if you: 1. Have never completed an application to Texas Woman s University through 2. Have applied to TWU, but not yet received admission notification; 3. Applied to begin TWU over a year ago, but never enrolled in coursework; 4. Were a TWU student, but have not been enrolled in TWU coursework in over a year. 5. Are admitted to TWU, but under non-degree or graduate student status. If you are not a current TWU student, you need to apply to TWU before submitting an application to TWU through NursingCAS. Go to and apply as an UNDERGRADUATE TRANSFER, DEGREE-SEEKING STUDENT with the major Nursing-Entry. MAKE SURE ALL ADMISSION DOCUMENTS ARE RECEIVED AT LEAST 4 WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF THE TWU NURSING DEADLINE TO ENSURE ADEQUATE PROCESSING TIME. Plan ahead, or wait until the following semester to apply to nursing. Once admitted, you may complete the NursingCAS application, as directed in the following pages. Page 1 of 20

2 Go to and click on Apply Now Then click on Create an Account Click Here Page 2 of 20

3 Enter your contact information, create a username and password, and agree to the terms. The address you use when creating your account will be the address to which copies of NursingCAS notifications will be sent. This includes admission decision notifications. Make sure NursingCAS is on your safe senders list, so that it s not marked as spam. The next thing it should do is ask you to select the program to which you want to apply. Selecting TWU will bring up all TWU programs available no need to specify other criteria, like degree type or state. If looking to apply to other schools, you may leave the school field blank and choose the type of program and location. Page 3 of 20

5 Tips for completing the 4 main sections Click on each of these to fill out required information. Specific info about certain sections shown on next pages. Note Optional questions, which are denoted with a tiny optional beside/below the question (like this: ), do not need to be completed; however, doing so will help TWU identify students who fit scholarship criteria. Answers to these questions will also help us in collecting overall data to improve our program. Page 5 of 20

6 Within the Release Statement Section: Within Biographic Information Click Yes here if you ve ever gone by another name. TEAS scores are often not matched up due to name differences. Page 6 of 20

7 TWU College of Nursing NO LONGER requires that you list all courses in which you ever enrolled in NursingCAS (the Transcript Entry section) or that you send official transcripts to NursingCAS. You do still have to list your colleges attended, though. Note No transcripts to CAS means your NursingCAS application will never be Verified by NursingCAS, but that s OKAY. Please make sure TWU has updated official transcripts of any non-twu coursework you ve completed. Yes, you have to enter your high school, but NO transcripts are required. Choose No if you will not earn a degree before beginning nursing. Choose My degree is in progress if you expect to earn a degree BEFORE the start of your nursing courses. Page 7 of 20

10 This section is for references, achievements, experiences, licensure and certifications. The TWU Pre-Licensure BS in Nursing program does NOT require these for application. Further, adding information here will not increase your chances of getting in to the program. TWU will not be looking at information/materials submitted here. Just click on I Am Not Adding Any for each of the 4 sections. (Unless you need to submit such information for another institution s nursing application.) Page 10 of 20

11 The Program Materials section will vary depending upon the program to which you ve applied and the admission cycle. The other 3 sections are common to all programs and application cycles, and the information in those 3 sections remains as part of your account. Program Materials will have to be completed separately for each program, each time you apply. This section will list all programs you have selected to apply to. If you are just applying to TWU, then it should look like the above. If you ve selected multiple schools, you ll have them all listed as click-able options. Clicking on TWU will bring you to our program s Home tab (as shown on the following page). The Home tab gives an overview of TWU s program and links to relevant advising materials. Most of you will know this the information presented on the home tab already. However, if you have never been advised about TWU s program requirements, please read the relevant information packet linked on that home page and/or schedule to talk with a TWU nursing advisor. Too many applicants tell us that they were unaware of a requirement (not having the nursing core completed, not having passing TEAS scores, etc.) after we tell them that they are ineligible for consideration because of that requirement. 13 There are many TWU-specific questions to be found by clicking on the Questions tab. Please verify that you ve listed the correct ID with no errors! Nursing courses are not offered in Denton. Page 13 of 20

14 Program Designations are different programs through which guaranteed admission may be granted. Make certain to answer correctly. TWU will VERIFY all answers of Yes. Page 14 of 20

15 It is okay if you ve submitted your CAS application to another nursing program already and, because of that, are unable to go back to add your SSN. Just select the first option here. We prefer that you wait until AFTER you ve taken the TEAS to submit your application. However, if you apply before you take it, we will put your application on hold until the deadline. Clinical Course Requirements are NOT things you need to have done in order to apply. These must be done before beginning your 1 st semester of nursing. If admitted, we will provide more information. However, if you have a colorful past (even if charges were dropped) and something could appear on a background check, you should go ahead and start the declaratory order process with the Board of Nursing ASAP, as listed above. Some issues take MONTHS to resolve. Page 15 of 20

16 Summer courses that end in August (even just after the deadline) are fine as long as transcripts arrive at TWU by Sept. 1 st. Page 16 of 20

17 When done with the Program Materials section, you can go back to the dashboard by clicking on My Application. Alternately, if you think you have answered everything, you can click on the Submit Applications tab. The number indicated on that tab will show you the number of program applications that you have ready to submit. If you click there, you can see a progress bar for each program to which you ve applied. (You can also remove programs from your NursingCAS account by going to this tab, too.) One application ready to submit. If the tab still shows 0 or the number of applications ready to submit is less than you expect, you can see exactly what is still remaining by hovering your cursor over the button that looks like this: Page 17 of 20

18 If the progress bar is completely green with a check mark, click on the blue Pay and Submit this Program button, which will take you to the screen below. Application fee is made to NursingCAS (Liaison International) and can only be paid with a credit or debit card. Page 18 of 20

19 After you submit your application: Remember to check your Notifications regularly, in case the copy sent to your was marked as spam by your provider! (Yes, unfortunately, it happens.) Admittedly, this tab is very confusing now that TWU does not require transcripts be submitted to NursingCAS. As you can see in the screenshot on the next page, it still shows that CAS is awaiting transcripts. Page 19 of 20

20 Do not let these worry you. TWU does not require that you send transcripts to NursingCAS. We still get your application as long as it says Received. (We are working to see if they can change the way this screen looks.) If you have coursework taken somewhere OTHER than TWU, do make sure that TWU has the most recent official transcripts. And lastly, remember that NursingCAS has a very thorough Instructions/FAQ and a large staff of people who can help you fill out the application. Just click on the? shown here. Page 20 of 20
