Raikes School of Computer Science and Management University of Nebraska-Lincoln Due Date: Nov. 15, 2013 Description: The Raikes School is a selective academic honors program that provides an education balanced in computer science and management. The Raikes School pays the cost of a student s room and board. Students must complete a University of Nebraska- Lincoln application online (admissions.unl.edu) before applying to the Raikes School (myred.nebraska. edu). Website: raikes.unl.edu Nebraska Educational Office Professionals Association Deadline: January 15, 2014 Description: The members of the Nebraska Educational Office Professionals Association (NEOPA) annually award a scholarship to a qualifying graduating student who has completed 2 or business education courses from among the following: computer classes, keyboarding, typing, shorthand, accounting, office practices and procedures, and/or bookkeeping. Award of the scholarship is based upon academic achievement, financial need and initiative of the student. The scholarship amount will be determined according to available funds and will be awarded annually in the spring. The amount for the 2013-14 school year is $1,000.00.

Hagan Scholarship Due Date: Nov. 15, 2013 Description: The Hagan Scholarship was established to award scholarships to high achieving students in need of financial assistance in order to attend college. Each Hagan Scholarship will help pay the unmet financial need of the recipient, up to $5,000 per semester. Finalists interviewed and are not awarded a scholarship will receive $1,000 to be used to further his or her education. Website: www.hsfmo.org Acacia Leadership Scholarship Due Date: January 31, 2014 Description: The Acacia Fraternity is a scholarship opportunity for young men who display motivation for personal success, an interest in developing and applying leadership skills, and who plan to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the 2014-2015 academic years. In that spirit the Nebraska chapter of Acacia is awarding one (1) leadership scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 and two (2) in the amount of $500.00 each to incoming male freshmen at UNL. Global Lift Equipment Scholarship Due Date: October 25, 2013 Description: To be considered for the Global Lift Equipment Scholarship you must be currently attending or planning on attending a post-secondary institution in Canada or the U.S. in September of 2013 or 2014 and have a GPA of 2.5 or greater. Student must also submit a short story. Detailed instructions can be found on application page. Applications can be found by going to: http://www.usedforkliftsontario.ca Youth Volunteer Scholarship Award Due Date: November 29, 2013 Description: To be eligible for the Youth Volunteer Scholarship Award a student must have completed a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer work over the past 2 years. Student must also have maintained a GPA of 3.5 or greater over the past 2 years. Applications can be found by going to: http://www.studentsscholarships.org/volunteer.php The Omaha World Herald/Kearney Hub Scholarship Due Date: November 15 th, 2013 Description: This scholarship is valued at $60,000 paying for tuition, fees, room, board, and books for four years. To be eligible the student must have scored a 30 or above on the ACT, top 10% of their high school class, must be admitted to UNK, and apply to the Honors Program by November 15 th. Apply now: www.unk.edu/honors Odenza Marketing Group Volunteer Scholarship Due Date: December 30, 2013 Description: The Odenza Scholarship is $500.00 to a student that is between the ages of 16 and 22 on December 30 th, 2013. Student must also possess a GPA of 2.5 or higher in his/her last academic year. Student must have contributed at least 50 hours of volunteer service within his/her community over the last 12 months. Please ensure that you have completed this amount of hours and that a person within the organization is willing to confirm that you have volunteered this amount of time. Peter Pasula Study Habits Scholarship Due Date: April1, 2014 Description: The Peter Pasula Study Habits Scholarship is a $500.00 scholarship for a student that is or will be attending an accredited post-secondary institution by the fall of 2014. A student can be enrolled at any level in any program that is two years in length or longer. The student must answer the essay question on the website online application form. Applications can be found by going to: http://www.mortgagebrokerscoquitlam.com Maple Leaf Dentistry Scholarship Due Date: May 30, 2014 Description: $500.00 will be awarded to an eligible student attending school at the undergraduate level in the fall of 2014 and can be enrolled in any year of their undergraduate program. High School seniors who will graduate in 2014 are considered eligible. If you are attending a trade and/or technical school, the program must be at least 2 years in length or longer. A student must have done at least 100 hours of volunteer work over the last 2 years. Student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in his/her last academic year. Application can be found by going to: http://www.peterboroughdentists.com Norma Ross Walter Scholarship Due Date: January 31, 2014 Description: To provide financial assistance to female graduates of Nebraska high schools who are planning to enroll as English majors at accredited colleges or universities. Selection is based on intellectual promise, creativity, and character of the applicant. First place recipient will receive $2,000.00, second place-$1,000.00, and third place-$500.00. Each stipend is payable at the beginning of the first year of college. The scholarship is not renewable.

The Secure Optimal Yield Scholarship Applications accepted: Sept. 15-Nov. 15, 2013 Description: The 2014-2015 Secure Optimal Yield Scholarship is a $5,000 onetime scholarship award presented to a high school senior who is going to pursue agriculture as a degree area of study at any accredited college or university. The scholarship is managed by the American Soybean Association and is made possible by a grant by BASF Corporation. Buffett Foundation Scholarship Application Opens: November 1, 2013 Application Deadline: February 1, 2014 (Student Aid Report due March 15, 2014) Application Requirements (all due February 1, except SAR): Complete online scholarship application Personal essay Official high school transcript Two letters of recommendation Copy of Student Aid Report (due March 15) After further review; it has been decided, that The College Funding Estimator will not be required as a part of the application, however, we encourage students, families, and counselors to use it as a tool to understand eligibility for the Buffett Scholarship. There will be a slight change in the format of the personal essay and letters of recommendation which will provide both students and recommenders additional guidance in addressing specific topics and characteristics. Website: http://www.buffettscholarships.org Wayne State College Music Scholarships Audition Dates: Friday, February 14, 2014 Friday, April 11, 2014 Description: The Department of Music awards scholarships to students who plan to major in music and to other talented musicians selected to perform in the college instrumental and vocal ensembles. Students seeking these awards must complete a written application and schedule a live audition. Awards are based on performance quality and potential for success in music. America s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship Program Application Period: November 15, 2013 through February 1, 2014 Description: Provides rural students with the opportunity to earn a $1,500 scholarship to further their agricultural education. Students apply at FFA.org/scholarships and must have three farmers endorse their application to be eligible for the Grow Ag Leaders scholarship. The farmer endorsement period runs until February 8, 2014. The Nebraska Academy of Sciences Due Date: March 1, 2014 Description: The Nebraska Academy of Sciences sponsors a number of scholarships each year for High School seniors planning to attend Colleges or Universities in the State of Nebraska. The scholarships offered require a scholarship application summary as well as supporting information in the form of essays, transcripts, testimonial letters from 2-3 supervisors or teachers, and lists of activities and/or related accomplishments. Scholarships vary from $100 to $1000. All the information is detailed on their website. Titan Machinery Sponsorship Program Description: The new sponsorship will pay all Central Community College diesel technology program school costs, including tuition, fees, books, and tools. The sponsorship does not provide for the cost of room and board. Selected students will be asked to work for Titan Machinery for two years upon completing their CCC diesel program AAS degree. To be selected: 1. Make application to CCC and be accepted. 2. Complete the Titan application for sponsorship. 3. Visit the CCC diesel program. 4. Provide Titan machinery and CCC with an ACT, COMPASS, or ASSET score. Should you have any questions about the program please contact Mr. Nixon.

2104 Maynard Jenses American Legion Memorial Scholarship Due Date: March 1, 2014 Description: Applicants must be sons or daughters, grandchildren or great-grandchildren, adopted or stepchildren of members of Department of Nebraska, The American Legion or POW, MIA, KIA, or any veteran that was a current Legion member at the time of death. Applicants must be enrolled or in the process of being enrolled full time in an accredited Nebraska institution of higher education to include university, college, or technical school, public or private. Any questions and applications may be taken care of in the guidance office. 2014 Jim Hurlbert Memorial Baseball Scholarship Due Date: June 15, 2014 Description: Scholarships are awarded for one year only and are nonrenewable. Eligibility is open to Nebraska American Legion Baseball players in their last year of Legion Baseball eligibility and/or graduating senior. Any student interested may get more information at the guidance office. *The following 3 scholarships are through Great Plains Communications. They are a member of the Foundation for Rural Education and Development (FRED), and the Foundation for Rural Services (FRS) which are both offering educational assistance to their members. Great Plains Communications College Scholarship Description: Offered to graduating seniors who plan to attend a Nebraska state or private college, to a Nebraska one- or two- year trade or technical school, to Northwest Technical Institute of Goodland, Kansas and to Mitchell Technical Institute of Mitchell, South Dakota. Up to 10 $1000 scholarships will be awarded statewide. Applicants must be a customer of Great Plains Communications and subsidiaries. FRED Scholarship Fund (Foundation for Rural Education and Development) Due Date: January 24, 2014 Description: Provides educational opportunities for individuals with a rural background who are attending or planning to attend an accredited college, university, or trade/vocational school and have demonstrated a commitment to rural life. Scholarship amounts range from $1000 to $2500 for general scholarships, with up to $5,000 being awarded to the top applicant. This application can be found at the FRED web page located at http://www.fred.org. FRS College Scholarship Program (Foundation for Rural Service) Due Date: February 22, 2014 Description: Offers scholarship opportunities to rural high school seniors who express an interest in returning to a rural area to pursue their careers. Should a student from the service area be selected to receive one of the 30 national scholarships ($2000 each), they will make a matching $500 contribution to the scholarship, bringing the total award to $2500.
