Section 1 About this manual 1.1 How to use this manual This manual is for setting up mail client of Waseda-net mail system which starts on March 9, 2011. 1.2 Icons used in this manual Warning Read the warning in advance because it describes critical items affecting operations. Caution Read the caution to discover tips on convenient operations and notes on other operation. Procedure Follow the procedure described. The steps and balloons are numbered to indicate the order of operations. Commen A comment provides an important description of the step. Name [XX] key Red frame Blue frame Meaning Indicates the name of each item on the screen. Indicates an icon, button name, or a link menu. Clicking it starts the relevant process. Indicates a key on the keyboard Indicates a button to click Indicates a textbox for text entry. 3
Section 2 Configuration items Items Email account Password POP server (POP3 over SSL) SMTP server(smtp over SSL) Waseda-net ID (email address) Setting *xxx@yyy.waseda.jp (The domain to the right of @ is also required) Waseda-net password post.waseda.jp Port number: 995 * Encrypted communication is possible by SSL. *Authentic method; AUTH (PLAIN, DIGEST-MD5, CRAM-MD) and APOP are available. post.waseda.jp Port number: 465 * Encrypted communication is possible by SSL. *Authentic method; SMTP AUTH (PLAIN, DIGEST-MD5, CRAM-MD5) is available. 4
Section 3 Configuration Methods 3.1 Windows 3.1.1 Configuration method for Windows mail This section shows how to set up Windows mail 6. Procedure 1. Launch Windows mail Click the [Accounts ] from the [Tools] menu in the menu bar. 2. The Internet Accounts window will be displayed. Click the [Add ] button. 3. The options for account type will be displayed. Select the E-mail Account and click the [Next] button. 5
4. The Your Name window will be displayed. Enter your name which you want to display into the Display name field and click the [Next] button. For example: Hanako Ohkuma 5. The Internet E-mail Address window will be displayed. Enter your Waseda-net ID in to the E-mail address field and click the [Next] button. 6. The Set up e-mail servers window will be displayed. Fill out the form using the values from the table below, and click the [Next] button No. Items Values 1 Incoming e-mail server type POP3 (prescribed value) 2 Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server post.waseda.jp 3 Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name post.waseda.jp 4 Outgoing server requires authentication Check the box 6
1 2 4 3 7. The Internet Mail Logon window will be displayed. Enter your Waseda-net ID into the E-mail username field. Enter your Waseda-net Password into the Password filed, and click the [Next] button. 8. The Congratulations window will be displayed. Check the following box. Do not download my e-mail at this time. Check the [Finish] button. 9. The Internet Accounts window will be displayed again. Please make sure post.waseda.jp (default) you created is in the Internet Accounts. Click on the post.waseda.jp (default) to selected it, and then click on the [Properties] button. 7
10. The Properties window for post.waseda.jp will be displayed. Click the [Advanced] tab. 11. Fill out the server port number form using the values from the table below in the [Advanced] window, and click the [OK] button. You will be taken back to the Internet Accounts window. Click the [Close] button. This concludes the configuration process. 9
3.1.2 Configuration method for Microsoft Outlook This section shows how to configure Microsoft Outlook 2007. Procedure 1. Launch Microsoft Outlook 2. Click the [Account Settings ] from the [Tools] menu in the menu bar. 3. The Account Settings window will be displayed. Click the [New ] button. There is a case that the Add New E-mail Account window is displayed. In this case, check the Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP box and click the [Next >] button. 4. Check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types box in the Auto Account Setup window, and click the [Next >] button. 10
5. The Choose E-mail Service window will be displayed. Select the Internet E-mail and click [Next >] button. 6. The Internet E-mail Settings window will be displayed. Fill out the form using the values from the table below and click the [More Settings ] button. 7. The Internet E-mail Settings window will be displayed. Click the [Advanced] tab. Fill out the form using values from the table below. 9. You will be taken back to the Internet E-mail Settings window. Click the [Next >] button. 10. The Congratulations! window will be displayed. Click the [Finish] button to close the window. This concludes the configuration process. 13
3.1.3 Configuration method for Mozilla Thunderbird This section shows how to configure Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1.7. Procedure 1. Launch Thunderbird. 2. Click the[account Settiongs] from the[tools]menu in the menu bar. 3. The Account Settings window will be displayed. Select the [Outgoing Server (SMTP)]in the left side menu Click the [Add] button in the main menu. 4. The SMTP server window will be displayed Fill out the from using the values from the table below and click the [OK]button. Make sure that ( Sefault) is shown after the selected setting. 6. Click the [Account Actions]button in the left side menu, and select the[add Mail Account]. 15
7. The Mail Account Setup window will be displayed. Fill out the form using the values from the table below. Click the [Continue]button.
