1 Instructions: Configuring Outlook 2003 with Exchange 2010 on the FIUMail Environment Some users have been using Outlook 2003 with their IMAP or POP account, and already have a profile set up. For those users, configuring Outlook 2003 with Exchange 2010 for FIUMail will involve creating a new account for the Exchange mailbox within the same profile (see Section I for all the details). However, some users may want to make a fresh start with their Outlook client and remove their existing profiles. In this case, users would click on Start Control Panel Mail Show Profiles and remove the profiles which are no longer needed. These users could take advantage of the Outlook wizard which will guide them through the configuration of Outlook (see Section II for all the details). Section I: How to configure Outlook 2003 for Exchange with an existing profile 1. Click on Start Control Panel 2. Double-click on the Mail icon and select Accounts 3. At the Accounts window, select Add a new account and click Next 4. For Server Type, select Microsoft Exchange Server and click Next. 5. At the Exchange Server Settings window, do the following: a. Enter the name of the Microsoft Exchange server as ad.fiu.edu. b. Check the box for Use Cached Exchange Mode c. Enter your name (or username) at the User Name prompt d. Click Check Name to confirm that the Exchange server can find your mailbox (see Figure 1a). When the system finds your mailbox, it will underline your name and change the server name from ad.fiu.edu to mail.fiu.edu (see Figure 1b). 6. When prompted, enter your Active Directory (AD) password and click Next. Make sure your username is specified as ad\username. Note: If you do not know your password, visit myaccounts.fiu.edu. 2 7. You should see a Congratulations window indicating that the configuration was successful. Click Finish. 8. Click on Start All Programs Microsoft Office Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 to launch Outlook. 9. With Microsoft Exchange 2010 server, you must enable Encryption between Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange in the Outlook 2003 clients. You can accomplish this by doing the following once you are in Outlook 2003: a. Click on Tools Accounts (see Figure 2) b. At the Accounts window, select View or change existing accounts (see Figure 3) Figure 2 Figure 3 c. Highlight your current Exchange server account and click Change (see Figure 4) d. At the Change account window, click on More Settings (see Figure 5) Figure 4 Figure 5 e. Click on the Security tab, and check the box to Encrypt data between Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange (see Figure 6)

3 f. Click OK Figure 6 Section II: How to configure Outlook 2003 for Exchange when no profiles exist 1. Launch Outlook 2003 by clicking on Start All Programs Microsoft Office Microsoft Office Outlook At the Create New Profile window, enter a name for your profile, and click OK (see Figure 7). 5 f. At the Congratulations window, click Finish (see Figure 10). Figure Once Outlooks c onfiguration is complete, and you launch Outlook 2003, you will be prompted to log in. Enter your AD domain password when prompted and make sure your username is prefixed with AD\ as in AD\smithj, for example. IMPORTANT NOTE: With Microsoft Exchange 2010 server, you must enable Encryption between Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange in the Outlook 2003 clients. You can accomplish this by following the instructions outlined in Step 9 above (from Section I) once you are in Outlook 2003.
