As the producer and host of the national teen career show, treaming Futures, Joel encourages teens to take advantage of career opportunities in high school just like he s done himself. he courses that helped me the most in high school were in the marketing program, Joel says. hey were terrific. What I really liked was that the teachers came from business backgrounds themselves, so they really knew about the material. [Also,] the speech and presentation skills I learned in marketing helped me build the confidence necessary to contact and solicit guests for treaming Futures. My high school experience was informative and fun. I thought I knew a lot about television production until I took my academy class at the Fairfax Academy. here was a lot more equipment available to explore at the academy and I was thrilled to constantly video live and taped productions. It was also great working with students from throughout the county who had the same career interest as me. Drew is now pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media tudies from Radford University. Film and Video Editors and Camera Operators Film and video editors and camera operators record images that entertain or inform an audience. Camera operators capture a wide range of material for V shows, motion pictures, music videos, documentaries, or news and sporting events. Editors construct the final productions from the many different images camera operators capture. hey collaborate with producers and directors to create the final production. Careers in this field are competitive and come with a lot of pressures, especially with live productions.
