News and What s On Winter 2016 Celebrating Adult Learning The City Chambers hosted an event on 24th November to celebrate the achievements of adult learners from across the city as part of the annual Adult Learners Week Lord Provost reception. 60 people who had taken part in city wide adult learning attended the event where the Depute Lord Provost presented them with their certificates of achievement after which they were entertained with a musical medley from the Finmill Guitar Group. A vast range of subjects and activities are offered as part of Adult Learning provision throughout the year and 12 of these groups were represented at the reception. These included: Literacies, ESOL, Gardening, Introduction to Psychology, Food & Health, Jobshop and IT4Work. Visit us on: We are committed to equality for all. We have invested heavily in making our premises accessible, whenever possible, and we always aim to provide appropriate support to learners, regardless of ability or disability.
General Enquiries tel: 666665 email: discover.learning@dundeecity.gov.uk Hub Cycling Group The Hub Cycling group meets every Thursday at 9.30am. Aimed at people who are keen to get back on their bikes and get fit, we only cycle on bike tracks no roads and we choose flat routes with no challenging hills! So far, the group has been to Clatto Park, along the Dighty Burn, Trottick Ponds, the Tay Bridge to Tayport and from Monifieth to Carnoustie and back. We also plan to go further afield now that the group is becoming established and Perth Inch, Montrose coastal path and the Falkirk Wheel are currently in our plans. When the weather isn t great we have planning sessions at the Hub but, so far, we have only had to do this once as a Thursday always seems to luckily fall on a sunny, calm day. At the moment, the group is for people who can bring their own bikes but the group have just applied for a grant to buy some new bikes which we will be able to offer to people. If you are interested in joining us then give a phone on 438643 for some more information. Trash To Treasure Adult Learning in partnership with Angus Housing have been working with local people to give old household objects a new lease of life.
