1 Intrductin: Abut the Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr can be used t create, cnfigure, and install cnfiguratin prfiles n Sny devices; including smartphnes and tablets. 2 Install the Sftware 2.1 System Requirements Befre installing the sftware, please ensure that the minimum system requirements and ther prerequisites are met. (See Table 1: System Requirements). Item Requirements Cmputer OS Windws 7, Windws 8 Device OS CPU Memry Hard Drive Space Display Reslutin Andrid 4.2.2 r later Pentium 1.8 GHz r higher 1 GB r mre internal memry 100 MB when installed 1024x768 pixels reslutin r higher Table 1: System Requirements 2.2 Install Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr T install Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr, pen the setup file and fllw the installatin wizard. Nte: The setup requires the.net framewrk which can be dwnladed frm Micrsft s webpage (http://www.micrsft.cm/net). Install the.net framewrk and restart the Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr setup. 2.2.1 Set Master Passwrd When Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr is started fr the first time, the user will be prmpted t set a master passwrd. The passwrd must cntain a minimum f 4 characters. (See Figure 1: Master Passwrd). The master passwrd must be entered n every lgin.

Figure 1: Master Passwrd 2.3 Install Cnfiguratin Agent Fr Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr t be able t access the device, the Cnfiguratin Agent applicatin must be installed n the device. Nte: All devices frm the Xperia Z3 family and nwards will have the Cnfiguratin Agent preinstalled. 1. T be able t install the Cnfiguratin Agent, USB debugging must be enabled n the device. G t Settings > Develper Optins and enable USB debugging. Nte: Fr Andrid 4.2.2 and later, the Develper Optins screen is hidden by default. T make it available, g t Settings > Abut Phne, and tap Build Number 7 times. Return t the previus screen t find the Develper Optins. 2. Start Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr. 3. Cnnect the device t the cmputer. The installatin will start autmatically. 2.4 Deactivate Cnfiguratin Agent T deactivate the Cnfiguratin Agent n the device, g t Settings > Security > Device Administratrs, find Cnfiguratin Agent and uncheck the bx next t it and click Deactivate. Nte: If Cnfiguratin Agent is deactivated, all settings made n the device using Sny Xperia Cnfiguratin will be lst. 2.5 Uninstall Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr T uninstall Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr frm yur cmputer, g t Cntrl Panel > Prgrams > Prgrams and Features and duble-click n Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr in the list view.

3 Hw t Use Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr 3.1 The Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr Interface T the left in the Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr interface is the Task View panel. (See area marked with 1 in Figure 2: The Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr Interface). The Task View panel cntains a tree view with three ndes; Prfiles, Applicatins, and Cnnected Device. Clicking Prfiles will display the prfiles settings in the right panel f the interface. (See area marked with 2 in Figure 2: The Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr Interface). (See chapter 3.2 Create and Manage Prfiles fr mre infrmatin). Clicking Applicatins will display the applicatins settings in the right panel f the interface. (See area marked with 2 in Figure 2: The Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr Interface). (See chapter 3.4 Applicatins fr mre infrmatin). Cnnected Device will display any Sny device cnnected t the PC. (See chapter 4.3 Cnnect a Device t the Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr fr mre infrmatin). Figure 2: The Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr Interface 3.2 Create and Manage Prfiles All cnfiguratin prfiles are created and managed in the Prfiles view, accessed by clicking Prfiles in the Task View. (See Figure 3: Task View and Figure 4: Prfiles View)

Figure 3: Task View Figure 4: Prfiles View 3.2.1 Create a New Prfile Click New t create a new cnfiguratin prfile item. (See Figure 4: Prfiles View). This functin is als available frm the File menu; G t File > New Prfile. 3.2.2 Imprt a Prfile Click Imprt t imprt prfiles. (See Figure 4: Prfiles View). When prmpted, verify the imprt by entering an imprt passwrd. (See Figure 5: Imprt/Exprt Passwrd). This functin is als available frm the File menu; G t File > Imprt > Cnfiguratin Prfile. The imprt passwrd is the passwrd used when the prfile was exprted. (See chapter 3.2.5 Exprt a Prfile). Figure 5: Imprt/Exprt Passwrd 3.2.3 Duplicate a Prfile Duplicate a prfile item by checking the checkbx in frnt f the prfile item, fllwed by clicking Duplicate. (See Figure 4: Prfiles View). 3.2.4 Delete a Prfile Delete a prfile item by checking the checkbx in frnt f the prfile item, fllwed by clicking Delete. (See Figure 4: Prfiles View).

3.2.5 Exprt a Prfile Exprt ne r mre prfiles by checking the checkbx in frnt f each prfile item t exprt, and click Exprt. (See Figure 4: Prfiles View). When prmpted, verify the exprt by setting an exprt passwrd. (See Figure 5: Imprt/Exprt Passwrd). This functin is als available frm the File menu; G t File > Exprt. 3.2.6 Install a Prfile n a Device Install a prfile by checking the checkbx in frnt f the prfile item, fllwed by clicking Install. (See Figure 4: Prfiles View). The prfile will be installed n the cnnected device. (See chapter 4.4 Install a Cnfiguratin fr mre infrmatin). Nte: A prfile can als be installed frm within the Cnfigure Prfile view. 3.3 Cnfigure a Prfile All prfiles listed in the Prfiles panel can be cnfigured in the Cnfigure Prfile view. Select a prfile item in the Task View t activate the Cnfigure Prfile view. Clicking n any f the Cnfiguratin Settings items in the Cnfigure Prfile view will display their individual settings. (See Figure 6: Cnfigure Prfile View). Nte: Older Sny devices d nt supprt all features that Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr supprts. When an lder device is cnnected sme cnfiguratin settings will be grayed ut in the Cnfigure Prfile view. When yu install the prfile, these grayed ut settings will nt be applied n the device. When a Cnfiguratin Setting is applied, click Save t save it t the prfile. (See Figure 7: Discard and Save Buttns). Click Discard t revert a Cnfiguratin Setting t its last saved state. (See Figure 7: Discard and Save Buttns).

Prfile Name: Set the prfile name. Descriptin: Enter a descriptin f the prfile. 3.3.2 Passwrd These settings can be used t apply passwrd security n the device. Check the Passwrd checkbx t enable the passwrd settings. Passwrd: Check the Passwrd checkbx t enable the passwrd settings.

Change Passwrd: Check the Change Passwrd checkbx t set a new passwrd n the device. If the device already has a passwrd, the existing passwrd will be replaced. Default Passwrd: Set a passwrd fr the device. Cnfirm the Entered Passwrd: Cnfirm the passwrd. Allw Simple Passwrd: Allw setting a simple passwrd n the device. Passwrd Histry: Set the number f entries t retain in the passwrd histry. This prevents the user frm re-using these passwrds. Passwrd Quality: Set the quality required fr passwrd n the device. Unspecified: N restrictins n the passwrd quality will be set. Face Unlck: At least the Face unlck ptin must be used as passwrd n the device (e.g. a PIN, a pattern, r an alphanumeric passwrd is als allwed). Nte: The Face unlck feature requires an Xperia smartphne with Andrid versin 4.0 r later, equipped with a frnt camera. Smething: A passwrd must be set, but n passwrd restrictins must be met. Numeric: Passwrds cntaining numeric, alphabetical and special characters are allwed. Alphabetic: Passwrds cntaining alphabetical, numeric, r special characters are allwed. Alphanumeric: The passwrd must cntain at least alphabetic AND numeric characters. Cmplex: The passwrd must meet cmplexity requirements. Set the number f minimum cmplex characters required fr the passwrd; 0-5 characters. Minimum Passwrd Length: Set the minimum length f the passwrd; 4-16 characters. Maximum Time befre Aut-Lck: Set the maximum time befre aut-lck; n limit, r 15 secnds t 10 minutes. 3.3.3 Restrictins These settings can be used t apply restrictins t certain device functins. Check the Restrictins checkbx t enable the restrictins settings. The restrictins settings are divided int tw tabs; Functinality and Applicatins. (See Figure 8: Functinality and Applicatins tabs. 3.3.3.1 Functinality Allw Screensht Capture: Allw screenshts t be taken in ther ways (e.g. thrugh ddms). Allw SD Card: Allw the user t munt/use SD cards. Allw Apps frm Unknwn Surces : Allw installatin f nn-market applicatins. Allw Tethering: Allw tethering (i.e. using ne device as a mdem fr anther device). Allw Wi-Fi: Allw Wi-Fi t be enabled by user r third party applicatins. Bluetth: Allw Bluetth t be enabled by user r third party applicatins. Allw Lcal Sync: Allw lcal sync (i.e. sync Outlk cntacts, calendar, and tasks). Allw Infrared: Allw infrared cnnectins t and frm the device. Allw Raming: Allw data raming. Set a Data Raming Limit: Enable a data raming limit. Data Raming Limit: Set the number f megabytes alltted per 30 day perid. The limit cannt be lwer than 5 MB. Allw Sync while Raming: Allw sync while data raming is enabled. Allw SMS/MMS: Allw SMS/MMS t be sent. Allw Keyguard Widget: Set keyguard widget restrictins. Allw all widgets: N keyguard widget restrictins. Disable Camera: Disable the keyguard secure camera. Nne: Disable all keyguard widgets. Allw Lcatin (GPS): Allw lcatin via GPS t be used. 3.3.3.2 Applicatins Allwed tab Allw YuTube: Allw the YuTube applicatin t be used. Allw Brwser: Allw the default Andrid brwser r Chrme brwser t be used. Allw Play Stre: Allw t install/update packages frm Play Stre. Allw Camera: Allw the camera t be used t take phts and vides. Whitelist/Blacklist tab: Enter an applicatin s package name in the Add New Package Name field. Add the package name by clicking Add. Use the arrw buttns t mve the name frm the Available Packages field t either the Blacklist field r the Whitelist field. (See Figure 9:

Whitelist and Blacklist). Nte: The packages added t the blacklist will nt be pssible t run n the device. If packages are added t the white-list, n ther packages will be pssible t run n the device. System applicatins are nt affected by the whitelist/blacklist restrictins. Figure 9: Whitelist and Blacklist 3.3.4 Wi-Fi These settings can be used t cnfigure hw the device cnnects t wireless netwrks. Check the Wi-Fi checkbx t enable the Wi-Fi settings. Use the + and - buttns t add and remve Wi-Fi netwrks. Netwrk SSID: Enter the netwrk SSID (i.e. the netwrk name). Static IP Cnfiguratin: Check this bx t enable static IP cnfiguratin. IP Address: Enter the static IP address. Subnet Mask Length: Enter the subnet mask length as bit cunts (e.g. 24 = 255.255.255.0; 16 = 255.255.0.0; 8 = 255.0.0.0). Default Gateway: Enter the static IP default gateway. Primary DNS: Enter the static IP primary DNS. Secndary DNS: Enter the static IP secndary DNS. Link Security Type: Select an encryptin prtcl frm the drp-dwn list. Select Open t disable encryptin prtcls.

3.3.5 VPN These settings can be used t cnfigure hw the device cnnects t wireless netwrks via VPN. Check the VPN checkbx t enable the VPN settings. Use the + and - buttns t add and remve VPN accunts. Nte: A field indicated with an asterisk (*) and a red brder is mandatry. (See chapter 4.2 Mandatry Fields fr mre infrmatin). Cnnectin Name: Enter a VPN accunt name t be displayed n the device. VPN Type: Select a VPN type frm the drp-dwn list. PPTP VPN Server: Enter the hst name r IP f the VPN server. Username: Enter a user name fr cnnectin certificatin. User Passwrd: Enter a user passwrd fr cnnectin certificatin. DNS Search Dmain: Enter a DNS search dmain fr cnnectin certificatin. DNS Servers: Enter DNS servers. Frwarding Rutes: Enter internal frwarding rutes. Enable Encryptin: Check the Enable Encryptin checkbx t enable encryptin. L2TP/IPSec PSK VPN Server: Enter the hst name r IP f the VPN server. L2TP Secret: Enter the L2TP secret fr cnnectin certificatin. Username: Enter a user name fr cnnectin certificatin. User Passwrd: Enter a user passwrd fr cnnectin certificatin. DNS Search Dmain: Enter a DNS search dmain fr cnnectin certificatin. Identifier: Set the IPSec identifier. User Pre-Shared Key: Enter the pre-shared key fr authenticatin. DNS Servers: Enter DNS servers. Frwarding Rutes: Enter internal frwarding rutes. L2TP/IPSec RSA VPN Server: Enter the hst name r IP f the VPN server.

L2TP Secret: Enter the L2TP secret fr cnnectin certificatin. Username: Enter a user name fr cnnectin certificatin. User Passwrd: Enter a user passwrd fr cnnectin certificatin. User Certificate: Enter the alias f the user certificate t use, r select an added certificate by clicking Select. (See chapter 3.3.8 Digital Certificates). CA Certificate: Enter the alias f the CA certificate t use, r select an added certificate by clicking Select. (See chapter 3.3.8 Digital Certificates). Server Certificate: Enter the alias f the server certificate t use, r select an added certificate by clicking Select. (See chapter 3.3.8 Digital Certificates). DNS Search Dmain: Enter a DNS search dmain fr cnnectin certificatin. DNS Servers: Enter DNS servers. Frwarding Rutes: Enter internal frwarding rutes. L2TP/IPSec Xauth PSK VPN Server: Enter the hst name r IP f the VPN server. Username: Enter a user name fr cnnectin certificatin. User Passwrd: Enter a user passwrd fr cnnectin certificatin. DNS Search Dmain: Enter a DNS search dmain fr cnnectin certificatin. Identifier: Set the IPSec identifier. User Pre-Shared Key: Enter the pre-shared key fr authenticatin. DNS Servers: Enter DNS servers. Frwarding Rutes: Enter internal frwarding rutes. L2TP/IPSec Xauth RSA VPN Server: Enter the hst name r IP f the VPN server. Mail Server and Prt: Enter the hst name r IP address fr incming emails. Username: Enter the user name t use when cnnecting t the incming email server. Passwrd: Set a passwrd. Security type: Select a security type fr incming email; Nne, SSL, r TLS. Outging Email Server: Set utging email server infrmatin. Mail Server and Prt: Enter the hst name r IP address fr the utging email server.

Check the Exchange ActiveSync checkbx t enable the Exchange ActiveSync settings. Use the + and - buttns t add and remve email accunts. ActiveSync Hst: Enter the Exchange ActiveSync server address. Use Secure Cnnectin (SSL): Check the Use Secure Cnnectin (SSL) checkbx t use the SSL security type fr incming and utging email. Dmain: Enter the accunt dmain. User: Enter the Exchange ActiveSync accunt user name Email Address: Enter the Exchange ActiveSync email address. Passwrd: Set an Exchange ActiveSync passwrd. Accept All Certificates: Check the Accept All Certificates checkbx t accept all certificates sent by the email server. Set Authenticatin Certificate: Enter the name f the client certificate t use, r select an added certificate by clicking Select. (See chapter 3.3.8 Digital Certificates). Set S/MIME Certificate: Enter the name f the S/MIME certificate t use, r select an added certificate by clicking Select. Sync Email: Allw emails t be synced. Sync Cntacts: Allw cntacts t be synced. Sync Calendar: Allw calendar t be synced.

3.3.8 Digital Certificates These settings can be used t imprt and setup the digital certificates t use fr this device. Check the Digital Certificates checkbx t enable the Digital Certificates settings. Use the + and - buttns t add and remve digital certificates. Certificate File: Enter the name f the client certificate t use, r imprt a certificate by clicking Imprt. Certificate Use: Set the usage fr the imprted certificate; Chse VPN and apps, Wi-Fi, r Email frm the drp-dwn menu. Alias: Enter an alias fr the imprted certificate. Passwrd: Set a passwrd fr the certificate. 3.3.9 Security & Privacy These settings can be used t apply security and privacy settings n the device. Check the Security & Privacy checkbx t enable the Security & Privacy settings. Set External Strage Encryptin: Check the Set External Strage Encryptin checkbx t encrypt all external strage. If external strage encryptin is set, it will nt be pssible t use the SD card n the device until it has been encrypted. If the user chses t encrypt the SD card, the internal memry als has t be encrypted. 3.3.10 Applicatins These settings can be used t select which applicatins t install n the device. Check the Applicatins checkbx t enable these settings. T add applicatins t the prfile, check the checkbx next t the applicatins. (See Figure 10: Applicatins). Check the Shrtcuts checkbx t enable these settings. Click Add t create a shrtcut. T delete a shrtcut, check the checkbx next t the shrtcut in the list view and click Delete. Label: Enter a hme screen label fr the shrtcut.

URI: Enter the URI fr the shrtcut (i.e. http://, file://, r a valid package name e.g. cm.andrid.chrme ). 3.4 Applicatins These settings can be used t imprt applicatins int the Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr fr installatin n a device. Click Imprt t imprt an applicatin. This functin is als available frm the File menu; G t File > Imprt > Applicatin. T delete an applicatin imprted t the Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr, check the checkbx next t the applicatin in the list view and click Delete. Imprted applicatins appear under Applicatins in the Task View. (See Figure 11: Applicatins). Figure 11: Applicatins Nte: Fr infrmatin n hw t select applicatins t install n the device, see chapter 3.3.10 Applicatins. 4 Hw t Install a Cnfiguratin n a Device This chapter will explain hw t install the cnfiguratin made in Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr n a device. 4.1 Cnfiguratin State The Cnfiguratin State indicates what state the Cnfiguratin Setting items are in. (See Figure 12: Cnfiguratin State). There are three states: Nt cnfigured: This means that the particular cnfiguratin setting is nt set. A prfile ptin in this state will nt be installed n the device. Nt saved: This means that a mandatry field in a cnfiguratin setting is nt set. This state will als be displayed if a change made in a cnfiguratin setting has nt been saved. Cnfigured: This means that the particular cnfiguratin setting is set.

Figure 12: Cnfiguratin State 4.2 Mandatry Fields A field indicated with an asterisk (*) and a red brder, is mandatry; it has t be filled with data therwise the prfile cannt be saved r installed n a device. If a mandatry field is empty when the prfile is saved, the setting icn will be indicated with a red brder and the Cnfiguratin Status will change t nt saved. (See Figure 13: Mandatry Fields). Figure 13: Mandatry Fields 4.3 Cnnect a Device t the Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr When a device is cnnected, a security dialg will appear n bth the PC and n the device. The user must verify that the cnnectin is genuine by cmparing the numbers n the device and n the PC.

1. On the device, click OK t cnfirm the numbers displayed n the PC and n the device. (See Figure 14: Cnfirm Cnfiguratin). Figure 14: Cnfirm Cnfiguratin 2. If a cnnectin is successful, the name f the device will be listed under Cnnected Device in the Task View. (See Figure 15: Cnnected Device). Figure 15: Cnnected Device 4.4 Install a Cnfiguratin Fllw these steps t install a cnfiguratin prfile n a device. Nte: Sme devices d nt supprt all Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr features. When these devices are cnnected, sme cnfiguratin settings will be grayed ut in the Cnfigure Prfile view. When yu install the prfile, these grayed ut settings will nt be applied n the device. The installatin dialg will say the installatin was successful, even thugh the grayed ut settings were nt applied. 1. In the Prfiles list, check the checkbx next t the prfile t install. (See Figure 16: Install a Prfile n Device). 2. Click the Install buttn. Nte: Installing a new prfile verrides the existing prfile n the device. Nte: It is als pssible t install a prfile frm the Cnfigure Prfile view. (See 3.2.6 Install a Prfile n a Device).

5 Errr Messages This chapter describes errr messages that may appear when installing prfiles using the Sny Xperia Cnfiguratr. Each message listing in Table 2 cntains the message statement, an explanatin f the prbable causes f the message, and a recmmended actin. Errr Message Statement Explanatin Recmmended Actin VPN_PROFILE: Keystre is lcked/nt initialized. The VPN accunt culd nt be created because the Keystre in the device has nt been initialized. This can be fixed by fixed by setting a passwrd n the device. The device must be passwrd prtected t be able t create VPN accunts. POP_IMAP_ACCOUNT: RESULT_DUPLICATE_ACCOUNT EAS_ACCOUNT_WITHOUT_CLIENT_CERTIFICATE: RESULT_DUPLICATE_ACCOUNT EAS_ACCOUNT_WITH_CLIENT_CERTIFICATE: RESULT_DUPLICATE_ACCOUNT An email accunt with that mail server and user name already exists n the device. An Exchange ActiveSync accunt with the same Active Sync hst and user name already exists. If the accunt existing n the device is the crrect, nthing needs t be dne: errr can be ignred. If the accunt n the device needs t be updated, the accunt needs t be remved manually in the device, and then the prfile can be installed again. If a new accunt shuld be created, the server and/r user name needs t be changed in the prfile, and then install the prfile again. CERTIFICATE: Failed because screen lck is nt activated. Certificates culd nt be installed because the device is nt lcked by a passwrd. A passwrd r PIN must be set n the device t make it pssible t install certificates. Table 2: Cmmn Errr Messages
