Methodology for High Efficiency Refrigerators Using Natural Refrigerant (1/2) l High efficient secondary loop cooling system: ü Refrigerant: Non-fluorocarbon (primary:nh3, secondary:co2 ) ü COP: for individual quick freezer - more than 1.5 for cold storage - more than 2.0 Screw Compressor Condenser CO2 Evaporator Air Cooler CO2 Tank CO2 Pump Screw Compressor Condensing Unit l The reference emissions are calculated based on the maximum COP of commercially available chillers. 4

Methodology for High Efficiency Refrigerators Using Natural Refrigerant (2/2) COP value of the possible refrigerators BaU COP Reference COP - 35 degree Celsius (Max COP: 1.32) BaU emissions Net emission reducbons BaU COP Reference COP Reference emissions Project emissions Credits - 25 degree Celsius (Max COP: 1.71) l Simplified monitoring: three parameters to be monitored ü Amount of electricity consumed by project refrigerator ü Electricity imported from the grid, where applicable ü Opera8ng 8me of cap8ve electricity generator, where applicable 5

Methodology for High Efficiency HOB for Hot Water Supply Systems (1/2) l High efficient HOB (Heat Only Boiler) for hot water supply system: ü 80% or higher boiler efficiency (catalog value) ü feeding coal on the stoker uniformly ü dust Conven8onal collector HOBs equipped High efficient HOBs l Efficiency of both reference HOBs and project HOBs are set as default value based upon actual measurement. 6

Methodology for High Efficiency HOB for Hot Water Supply Systems (2/2) l Net emission reduc8ons by seeng default values as : ü Higher possible efficiency of reference HOBs ü Lower possible efficiency of project HOBs Boiler Efficiencies Reference HOBs: 37.1-60% (measured) 35-63% (literature) Project HOBs: 56.2-69.1% (measured) 75-85% (literature) 53.3% 61% BaU emissions Reference emissions Project emissions Project Net emission reducbons Credits emissions (actual) l Monitoring is simplified as only two parameters are to be monitored: ü Net heat quan8ty supplied by the project HOB ü Total hours of the project HOB opera8on during the monitoring period 7

Methodology for small-scale solar PV system at commercial facility in Small Island States (1/2) l Solar PV system to displace grid electricity and/or captive electricity using diesel fuel as power source l Solar PV system certified with: ü Design qualifications (IEC 61215, IEC 61646 or IEC 62108) ü Safety qualification (IEC 61730-1 and IEC 61730-2) (1) Monitoring point Solar PV system DC AC Net-metering Solar PV module Inverter kwh Revenue meter Power flow Grid From the solar PV system From the grid User (End point) l The quantity of the electricity generated by the project solar PV system and irradiance are monitored for checking the operational status of the installed solar PV system 8

Methodology for small-scale solar PV system at commercial facility in Small Island States (2/2) l Project emissions are zero l Reference emissions are calculated from [AC output of solar PV system (monitored value)] X [emission factor (tco2/mwh)] GHG emissions BaU: ExisBng diesel generators 33-41% (power genera8on efficiency) 0.805-0.631 tco2/mwh (emission factor) BaU emissions Net emission reducbons Reference: HypotheBcal state- of- the- art Reference emissions diesel generators: Credits 49% (power generation efficiency) 0.533 tco2/mwh (emission factor) Project emissions = 0 tco 2 l The grid emission factor provided by this methodology; ü ensure net emission reduc8ons; ü eliminates the burden to calculate emission factor by finding out field data; ü avoids confusion as to which data vintage should be used when calcula8ng emission reduc8ons; ü is applicable in countries where necessary field data are not available; ü has poten8al to be applied widely. 9
