Introduction to Smart View for Financial Reports Hyperion Smart View allows users to open Financial Reports directly in Excel in various formats, allow for different functionality. There are three different ways Financial Reports can be opened in Smart View: HTML Opens the Financial Report in a webpage and will appear as it does in workspace Fully Formatted Opens the Financial Report in Excel fully formatted, but without an active connection to the report source Connecting to Financial Reports A connection with a data source must be created to begin working with any Financial Report. Users will only have to input the URL the first time to establish a connection using Shared Connection. To Establish a Connection: 1. In the Smart View ribbon, click Options. 2. Select the Advanced tab then enter https://epmprod.ucalgary.ca/workspace/smartviewproviders in the Shared Connection URL text field. 3. Click OK. 4. Click Panel. Note: If the user is already working in Excel, it is important that user opens a new workbook before connecting to the Planning application and opening a data form. If the user does not open a new workbook, the data form will open as a tab on the active workbook and not be connected. 3
5. On the Smart View panel, click Shared Connections. 6. Enter the Hyperion Username and Password. Click Sign In. 8. From the server drop down list, select Reporting and Analysis Framework. 4
Opening a Financial Report from the Reporting and Analysis Framework Connection Users can chose to open three different formats. The formats available for import in reports that can be opened in Smart View include: HTML Opens the Financial Report in a HTML window Excel Fully Formatted Opens the Financial Report in Excel fully formatted Opening a Financial Report as an HTML When a user choses to open a Financial Report as an HTML, the report opens up as a webpage and it appears as it would in the workspace. To Open a Financial Report as an HTML: 1. Double-click the Financial Report from the Smart View Panel. 2. If prompted with the User Point of View prompt, select the necessary members for the report. 3. Click OK. 4. If prompted with the report prompt, select the necessary member(s) for the report. 5
5. Click OK. Financial Report will open in the window as it would appear in the Workspace. 6
Opening a Financial Report as a Fully Formatted Excel Document When a user choses to open a Financial Report as a Fully Formatted Excel Document, the report opens up as an Excel sheet with formatting that mimics the report in Workspace. To Open a Financial Report as a Fully Formatted Excel Document: 1. Double-click the Financial Report from the Smart View Panel. 2. If prompted with the User Point of View prompt, select the necessary members for the report. 3. Click OK. 4. If prompted with a report prompt, select the necessary member(s) for the report. 5. Click OK. Financial Report will open in the window in HTML format, as it would appear in the Workspace. 6. Click the Import Document As dropdown and select Fully Formatted. 7
7. Click Finish. Financial Report will open fully formatted in Excel. 8
Opening Financial Reports from Smart View Task Lists Users can open financial reports that are located in a Hyperion Planning task list. If the financial report is not located within a task list, for a user to open the financial report from Smart View, they would have to open the report via the Reporting and Analysis Framework. To Open a Financial Report from a Smart View Task List: 1. From the connection panel, click the Server dropdown and select Oracle Hyperion Planning, Fusion Edition. 2. Expand the list to reveal the task lists. 3. Double-click the task list that contains the financial report. 9
4. Double-click the Financial Report task. 5. If prompted, enter username and password. 6. If prompted, select members for the User Point of View. 7. Click OK. 10
