JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Department: Reports to: Clinical Education Nurse Learning & Development Learning & Organisational Development Manager Hours: 35 hours over five days, Monday to Friday 1. Job Purpose Under the direction of the Learning & Organisational Development (OD) Manager to support the continuous improvement of clinical care and effectiveness across St Oswald s clinical services. 2. Main Accountabilities, Duties & Responsibilities Design and develop agreed clinical training and development programmes, delivering training where required. Coordinate development activities for clinical staff to meet local and national standards. Work closely with clinical staff and managers to promote and develop competence based learning activities in the workplace. Support and encourage continuing clinical professional development (lifelong learning) and professional self regulation. Contribute to clinical risk- including lessons learnt from complaints. Under the direction of the Learning and OD Manager: - ensure that training and development reflects current and future service changes. - Identify learning needs for registered and non registered clinical staff based on training needs analysis. - Implement specified clinical aspects of the learning and organisational development strategy. - Identify development needs in relation to clinical skills training and CPD. - Research appropriate education and training programmes to meet CPD needs. - Work with stakeholders to plan and organise educational and development opportunities to meet the needs of clinicians and St Oswald s. - Coordinate clinical skills training and CPD. 1
Analyse and interpret clinical training related data including learning needs analysis to determine trends. Evaluate the effectiveness of clinical education and training. Coordinate and support the delivery and development of St Oswald s Link Nurse programme. General Carry out clinical audits as directed by the Essence of Care Group, Infection Control Steering Group, Clinical Quality Group, Risk Management Group. Carry out risk assessments as required. Participate in the development and review of specified policies & protocols. Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of surveillance & audit programmes as deemed appropriate. Systematically collect and analyse data, making recommendations for change as appropriate.supervise volunteers as required.. Self Development Maintain knowledge and understanding of roles within clinical professions ensuring core competencies are maintained and developed through the appropriate training programmes. Continually update own knowledge and skills to main understanding of current issues affecting service delivery, lifelong learning initiatives and opportunities. To undertake appropriate personal development and maintain, develop skills and knowledge as determined by the annual review and development meetings and subject to the availability of resources. 4. Risk Management including Health &Safety To adhere to St Oswald s Health and Safety policy as set out in St Oswald s Health and Safety policy statement. To attend all health and safety training St Oswald s deems mandatory. 5. Working Relationships and Team Working To work as a positive team member at all times and in accordance with St Oswald s Respect at Work Policy and Procedure. 6. PERSON SPECIFICATION Clinical Education Nurse CRITERIA ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS TRAINING & EDUCATION Registered nurse Computer literacy Microsoft Office Teaching qualification PTLLS/PGCE or equivalent Educated to or working towards first level degree Recognised leadership / qualification EXPERIENCE Evidence of prior involvement in: - the design, delivery and evaluation of training/education - project work Proven record of multidisciplinary team and partnership working.
