Course Outline There are eight units in total to complete the Certificate IV in Project Management and nine units in total to complete the Diploma of Project Management. Core Units Certificate IV Component: Week 1 1) BSBPMG401A Apply Project Scope Management Techniques This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to contribute to the control of a project s scope by assisting with the identification of objectives, deliverables, constraints, assumptions and outcomes; and by applying controls once the project has commenced. Week 2 2) BSBPMG402A Apply Time Management Techniques This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to assist with project scheduling activities, the application and monitoring of the agreed schedule and evaluation of time management effectiveness for the project. Week 3 3) BSBPMG403A Apply Cost Management Techniques This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to work with others to produce a project budget, to monitor project expenditure and to contribute to cost finalisation processes. Week 4 4) BSBPMG404A Apply Quality Management Techniques This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to enhance project outcomes through contributing to quality planning, applying quality policies and procedures and contributing to continuous improvement within projects. Week 5 5) BSBPMG405A Apply Human Resources Management Approaches This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to assist with aspects of human resources management of a project. This involves establishing human resource requirements, identifying the learning and development needs of people working on the project, facilitating these needs being met and resolving conflict within the team. Week 6 6) BSBPMG406A Apply Communications Management Techniques This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide a critical link between people, ideas and information at all stages in the project lifecycle. It covers assisting the project team to plan communications, communicating information related to the project and reviewing communications. Week 7 7) BSBPMG407A Apply Risk Management Techniques This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to assist with aspects of risk management within a project. Week 8 8) BSBPMG408A Apply Contract and Procurement Procedures This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to assist with contracting and procurement for a project. It covers identifying procurement and contract requirements, assisting with contractor selection, conducting contracting and procurement activities and assisting with finalisation of activities for the project. Week 9 9) Summative Assessment Core Units Diploma Component: Week 10 1) BSBPMG501A Manage Application of Project Integrative Processes This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to integrate and balance the overall project management functions of scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk and procurement; and to align and track the project objectives to comply with organisational goals, strategies and objectives. Week 11 2) BSBPMG502A Manage Project Scope This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to determine and manage project outcomes. It covers project authorisation, developing a scope management plan, and managing the application of project scope controls. Week 12 3) BSBPMG503A Manage Project Time This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage time within projects. It covers determining and implementing the project schedule, and assessing time management outcomes. Week 13 4) BSBPMG504A Manage Project Costs This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to identify, analyse and refine project costs to produce a budget, and to use this budget as the principal mechanism to control project cost. Week 14 5) BSBPMG505A Manage Project Quality This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage quality within projects. It covers determining quality requirements, implementing quality assurance processes, and using review and evaluation to make quality improvements in current and future projects. Week 15 6) BSBPMG506A Manage Project Human Resources This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake human resource management (HRM) within projects. Week 16 7) BSBPMG507A Manage Project Communications This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to link people, ideas and information at all stages in the project life cycle. Project communications management ensures the timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination, storage and disposal of project information through formal structures and processes. Week 17 8) BSBPMG508A Manage Project Risk This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage risk within a project to avoid adverse effects on project outcomes. It covers determining, monitoring and controlling project risks, and assessing risk management outcomes. Week 18 9) BSBPMG509A Manage Project Procurement This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake procurement and contract management within projects. It covers determining procurement requirements, establishing agreed procurement processes, conducting contracting and procurement activities, and managing finalisation processes.
