VERIFICATION OF DEGREE OF PROTECTION AGAINST THE INGRESS OF SOLID FOREIGN OBJECTS FOR IP 5X ENCLOSURES 13.4 category 2 ( without vacuum pump ) of IEC 60529 apply. The device under test, was inserted in the dust chamber without vacuum pump. Ingress of talcum powder into protected space is verified as a follows: ingress of talcum powder is verified by using a watch glass installed at the centre of the base of the protected space of the enclosure in order to pick up the talcum powder entering the protected space during the test. After the test, talcum powder shall not form deposits of more than 1 g/m2. in practice the weight of the watch glass is measured before and at the end of the test and the difference between both measures is representative of the amount of the talcum powder which has entered the protected space. Test duration: 8 hour. RESULTS: At the end of test a visual internal inspection was made and no powder was found on the watch glass according to IEC 62208:2002. The enclosure can be classified IP5X degree in according to IEC 62208:2002. Page 3 of 14
2. TEST FOR SECOND CHARACTERISTIC NUMERAL 5 The device under test was spray from all practicable direction with a stream of water from a standard nozzle of CEI EN 60529:1997-06 - standard. The observed conditions were as follows: - Internal diameter of nozzle: 6,3 mm - Delivery rate: 12,5 l/min ± 5% - Water pressure: adjusted to achieve the specific delivery rate - Core of the substantial stream: circle of approximately 40 mm diameter at 2,5 m distance from nozzle - Distance from nozzle to enclosure surface: between 2,5 and 3 m. - Test duration: 3 min. RESULTS: At the end of test, a visual inspection was made: WATER WAS FOUND but not in the protected space ( see photos at 10 ). The enclosure can be classified IPX5 degree in according to IEC 62208:2002. 9.
