The SSO has performed around the world and its 6-city tour of London and Germany in 2010 included a sold-out performance at the Berlin Philharmonie. In September 2014 the SSO will make its debut at the BBC Proms in London, one of the greatest music festivals in the world. Among the SSO s many recordings are a number of CDs which have earned international acclaim. The SSO performs over 50 symphonic programmes a year at its performing home the Esplanade Concert Hall, the Victoria Concert Hall, home of the SSO since 1979, and at other venues. Established in 1979, the SSO s versatile repertoire spans the all-time favourites and orchestral masterpieces to exciting cutting-edge premieres, with Asian and Singaporean musicians and composers featuring prominently in the concert season. Through its many Community Outreach activities, the SSO hopes to bring the enjoyment of classical music performances to all segments of our community, and to develop new audiences through its wide-ranging programmes. Highlights include the Babies Proms, Concerts for Children, Discovering Music! series as well as a series of free performances in venues such as the Botanic Gardens and Gardens by the Bay.
