EARLY FIELD EXPERIENCE: Applicants must demnstrate that they have fulfilled a minimum requirement f 45 hurs f Early Field Experience prir t applying t the Single Subject Credential Prgram. This Early Field Experience requirement can be met by vlunteering, substitute teaching, r wrking in a Single Subject, regular educatin classrm in a Califrnia public schl, in an apprpriate subject area. The classrm shuld be culturally and linguistically diverse, meaning that at least ne third f the students are English Language Learners. This includes Ebnics speakers. The intentin is fr applicants t gain sme expsure t and familiarity with the rle f the teacher, the student age grup, the current curriculum standards, and the public schl envirnment. The experience shuld be within the last 5 years. Experiences in private schls, pre-schls, special educatin, higher educatin, religius educatin, after schl prgrams r utside the U.S. will nt meet this requirement. A letter f recmmendatin frm the teacher r supervising site administratr must verify this experience. The letter shuld briefly describe the classrm cmpsitin, including the cultural backgrund f the students, and the classrm envirnment, including grade level and subject(s) taught. The letter shuld als state hw the applicant was invlved in the classrm, including qualitative cmments abut the applicant s perfrmance in the classrm, especially nting the applicant s effectiveness in a linguistically and culturally diverse classrm.
