A Message From Your Seminar Leader, Kami Bible Dear Colleague: Bureau of Education & Research 915 118th Avenue SE PO Box 96068 Bellevue, WA 98009-9668 Phone (800) 735-3503 Fax (425) 453-1134 www.ber.org My love of occupational therapy and my passion for technology collided the day I first brought my ipad into a therapy session. With the release of the first ipad, I immediately noticed how motivating it was for my students. I began incorporating the ipad into my therapy sessions alongside traditional therapy methods. In the beginning, I struggled with adapting the few apps available for use in occupational therapy. Later, I spent hours sifting through the hundreds of apps available on the App Store to find apps that would work for my needs. Being an occupational therapist myself, I understand the demands we face daily for best serving our students while maintaining up to date information on new technology, therapies and ideas to help our students All with limited resources and time. I look forward to sharing the newest and best apps, tips and tools you can use for a variety of needs, including fine motor, keyboarding, visual motor, behavior, social skills, and communication. We will also discuss how the ipad can help you stay organized and become a more efficient therapist and help you with documentation. I have spent the time since I first brought my ipad into a therapy session adapting it for use in a school based occupational therapy program, and I am excited to share my knowledge with you! I look forward to sharing the newest and best apps, tips and tools you can use for a variety of needs, including fine motor, keyboarding, visual motor, behavior, social skills, and communication. Whether you are a first time ipad user or looking for new and creative ways to use the ipad, I will share specific ideas, apps and resources for finding and discovering apps that will work for your needs. Our day will be fast paced and app filled. You will leave with a very full toolkit for using an ipad in a school based occupational therapy program. Sincerely, Kami Bible, OTR/L, MBA P.S. I know how valuable your time is, so I have planned this day to be filled with practical strategies to best use the ipad and apps specifically for use in an occupational therapy setting. 4
