As an Occupational Therapist who continues to work in schools and has for over 25 years, I know firsthand the powerful impact we can have on students who struggle in school. We have the unique expertise and the tools necessary to greatly increase student success in learning and in daily functioning. Like you, I know the importance of making a difference for the students who lack visual perceptual and functional vision skills. As I strive to develop OT services across different schools, I have found many techniques and activities that can be used to address these challenges and I m excited to share these with you. In our day together, we will explore a variety of visual strategies that I use to address environmental barriers in our classrooms for students with poor functional visual skills. We will identify the difference between eyesight and vision along with current research on how to increase learning for these students.
