FHS Counselor Newsletter FEF Scholarship Application Deadline is Friday at 5pm: Attention Families of the Class of 2015 Graduating Frisco ISD high school seniors are eligible to apply for hundreds of college scholarship opportunities managed by the Frisco Education Foundation. The application is available online at. The deadline to submit the application is Friday, December 19 at 5 p.m. Late or un-submitted applications will not be accepted. The Foundation provides or facilitates thousands of dollars' worth of college scholarships each year on behalf of individuals, non-profit organizations and businesses in the community. Nearly $3.2 million has been awarded to more than 3,400 graduating seniors since the Foundation's inception 15 years ago. Also, please have your student verify the email addresses they use or have used to request letters of recommendations, as FEF is receiving hundreds of bounce backs. Scholarship Opportunities: 1. The first scholarship is "Aspiring Fashion Professional" Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited postsecondary school or college. Interested students can visit this link http://www.fashion-schools.org/ and find the scholarship located at the bottom of the page and click on it. 2. The 2nd Scholarship is the "Aspiring Animation Professional" Scholarship Program. This is the 4th year we are awarding this scholarship for AnimationCareerReview.com. We are offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. We ask that you have interested students visit our website, http://www.animationcareerreview.com/ to find eligibility information along with the online application. The scholarship will be on the right side of the page and click on it.

The deadline for both scholarships is June 1, 2015. New SAT Practice for Freshmen and Sophomores C2 Education Frisco Center will be hosting a free testing event to celebrate the Holidays. Students in 9th and 10 grades will have the opportunity to take a practice test for the New SAT. If so, this workshop walks you through each step of the process to get started, from admissions to advising and applying for financial aid. University of Tulsa Information The University of Tulsa will be conducting scholarship interviews on Saturday, January 17, 2015. Our scholarship deadline is February 1. All admission material must be submitted by February 1 to be considered for academic scholarships. Our last overnight program, Tulsa Time for Seniors is February 15-16, 2015. Meals begin with dinner on the first evening of the program and end with breakfast on the final day of the program. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served June 6 -June 13. Lodging for seven nights in a double-occupancy room costs $250 and includes meals. A participant is exempt from residing in the residence hall if living with a parent or legal guardian. An optional meal plan (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for these participants may be purchased for $100. Throughout this program, a team of LSU students, faculty, and staff will be devoted to you. The LSU Spring Invitational Program s testing sessions, orientation programs, scheduling privileges, and social activities provide significant benefits. Earning advanced standing credit for college courses could significantly reduce your college costs. Spring Invitational will serve as your orientation program. If you attend this orientation program, you will not need to attend any of the freshman orientation programs scheduled in June and July. You will have the privilege of scheduling fall and/or summer courses prior to the normal freshman registration period. Meet faculty and staff to learn about the numerous resources LSU has to offer. Remember, space is limited and reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. You must attend the opening session, Preview 2015 at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25. To take advantage of the early class scheduling privilege, you must arrange to stay on campus until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27. Program Invitation Requirements The LSU Spring Invitational Program is limited to invited students only. Participants must meet the qualifications listed below to receive an invitation. Invitation postcards and emails will be sent around the third week in January! Please do not attempt to register for the program until you receiver an invitation via email. Your official SAT or ACT score(s) must be on file with the LSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions & Student Aid. NOTE: The SAT required score is calculated from a student s combined Math and Verbal SAT scores. Level 1: 3.20 academic GPA and either an SAT total score of 1250 or greater or an ACT composite score of 28 or greater. Level 2: 2.90 academic GPA and either an SAT total score of 1250 or greater or an ACT composite score of 28 or greater. Level 3: 3.20 academic GPA and either an SAT total score of 1210 or greater or an ACT composite score of 27 or greater. The online reservation deadline is March 17, 2015. Admission to LSU To participate in the Spring Invitational Program, you must be accepted for admission to LSU. Your online reservation form for the LSU Spring Invitational Program cannot be processed until you have been admitted by LSU s Office of Undergraduate Admissions & Student Aid. If you have not yet applied to LSU, you may do so at www.lsu.edu/admissions. Your application, fee, transcript, and official test scores should be on file with the admissions office by January 5, 2015.

To attend the LSU Spring Invitational Program, LSU must have your official SAT or ACT score(s) on file. Only scores received directly from the SAT or ACT testing center are considered to be official scores. For more information on how to have your official ACT or SAT scores sent to LSU, contact the LSU Office of Enrollment Management at 225-578-1175. Payment of this fee entitles students to take advanced standing exams offered during orientation. The fee also covers a copy of the Experience LSU handbook, and much more. If you pay by credit card, a 2.5 percent non-refundable processing fee will be added to your total. You will have lunch in an LSU dining unit on Friday. The lunch is mandatory and will cost $9.95, to be paid when you submit your online registration form. All other meals and refreshments are complimentary.
