Nonrefundable application fee of $50 must accompany application form. You may pay by check (drawn on a bank based in the United States), money order, or credit card (provide the type of card, account number, name on account, and expiration date). Transcripts: Original or certified official copies of transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary schools must be sent directly from each institution to TCU. Records should include subjects taken each year, grades or marks earned, and diplomas or certificates received. Please submit national exam results sheets, if applicable. English translations should accompany documents in other languages. Essay or composition of words. The essay topic is explained inside on the application form. Be creative! Resume detailing your extracurricular activities, leadership, honors, community or volunteer activities, work experience and travel. Recommendation letters: One from a counselor or administrator from the last school attended. Freshmen being considered for academic scholarships should also submit a teacher recommendation. The recommendation letters should include details of the academic and personal qualities of the applicant. Students attending U.S. colleges with 24 hours of transferable credit do not have to submit recommendations. SAT or ACT for freshman applicants who attend schools where English is the primary language of instruction, and all freshmen applying for scholarships. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) for those whose native language is not English. Students who score at least 550 (paper-based TOEFL) or 80 (Internet-based TOEFL) may enroll in degree studies on a full-time basis. The TOEFL may be waived for applicants with strong SAT or ACT scores or for those who have completed at least 24 hours of transferable academic credit (including English composition) from a U.S. college. An IELTS score of 6.5 may also be substituted. TCU Financial Statement(s) completed by the applicant and the applicant s sponsor(s) and accompanied by a letter from each sponsor s bank official and employer. (These may be sent after the application, if necessary.) Applicants from U.S. high schools or colleges should submit a Transfer Verification Form, which must be completed by an international student advisor or school administrator. The form should be sent directly from the school to TCU, along with a copy of the current I-20 or DS2019. Color photograph (optional). Procedures and Requirements After Admission Admitted students must submit the TCU Financial Statement (if not provided earlier) before they will qualify for the I-20 or DS2019 Certificate of Eligibility required to obtain a visa. The Financial Statement(s) should be completed by the applicant and the applicant s sponsor(s) and accompanied by a letter from each sponsor s bank official and employer. A nonrefundable tuition deposit is required before the I-20 or DS2019 will be issued. Medical History Report and record of immunizations. The advance housing payment should be submitted if the student plans to live in campus housing. All freshmen and sophomores (first and second year college students) under the age of 21 and not living at home are required to live on campus. Other unmarried applicants are encouraged to apply for campus housing on a space-available basis. Continued on next page

2 Upon Arrival Students Are Required to: Attend academic orientation and international orientation and take an English proficiency re-verification exam. Present originals of any final documents not sent earlier. The originals will be compared with the previously-sent documents and returned to the student, if requested. Present their passports and all U.S. Immigration Service forms and documents received upon U.S. entry. Intensive English Program (IEP) TCU has a multilevel Intensive English Program for students who are not fully proficient in English. Admission and enrollment approval may be granted as follows: Students who have a TOEFL score below 550 (paper-based TOEFL) or 80 (Internet-based TOEFL) may be granted conditional admission for degree studies, but they must first enroll in the IEP. After completing the IEP, students can matriculate into degree studies in either the fall or spring semester. Students who are attending the TCU Intensive English Program and have achieved a TOEFL score of at least 525 may be allowed to take one degree-credit class while they are simultaneously enrolled in the IEP. With a paid application fee, TCU will waive the TOEFL and offer free English placement tests for IEP students. Those applying for IEP only should submit the completed application, $50 application fee and financial statement. For IEP only, the transcripts, recommendations, resume and essay are not required. Intensive English Program sessions are offered monthly (except December). Students are required to have sufficient funding to cover summer and winter break costs OR to purchase a plane ticket if leaving the U.S. International Financial Statement Instructions (Financial Statement on Reverse Side) U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) requires evidence of sufficient financial resources for the duration of studies and sponsorship verification before issuing the I-20 or DS2019 (required to obtain a visa). All documents must be originals and submitted with English translations. Section 1: Student s Statement of Financial Responsibilities The applicant must read, complete, sign and date Section 1. Section 2: Sponsor s Statement of Financial Commitment The sponsor must sign and date Section 2. Include a letter from the sponsor s employer, on company letterhead, verifying employment and annual salary in U.S. dollars. Salary should be sufficient to sustain the sponsor's family and the student's expenses at TCU for the duration of studies. If your sponsor is self-employed, please have the bank or company accountant state that the sponsor is self-employed, and in what capacity, and at what annual salary. If self-sponsored, the applicant should write self as the name of the sponsor and sign and date Section 2. A self-sponsored student must currently have funds in the bank to cover costs for the entire period of studies at TCU. Note: If a student has more than one sponsor, the student and each sponsor must complete a separate financial statement and indicate the amount of support in Section 2. Copies of the financial statement can be made for additional sponsors. Section 3: Financial Verification from Bank or Financial Institution An official of the sponsor s financial institution must complete, sign, and put an official seal or stamp on a certification statement on the institution s letterhead. An example of the wording that can be used follows: I hereby certify that according to our records and in my opinion, SPONSOR S NAME, the sponsor of STUDENT S NAME, is capable of meeting the expenses of the student, as indicated on the Estimated Undergraduate Costs form. His average monthly balance for the past 12 months was, and his current balance is." The bank letter must be translated into English and indicate the average monthly balance for the past 12 months and the current balance in U.S. dollars. As required by ICE, the sponsor must have sufficient funds currently in the bank to cover a full year of expenses. Please include copies of documents that support the information in the bank letter. Evidence of the current balance, average monthly balance, and other basic information on supporting documents must be translated into English, and the amount should be equal to or greater than the amount listed in Section 2.

I will have sufficient funds to cover living and travel expenses for any dependents who accompany me. If I remain in the U.S. during the summer/winter breaks, I will also have sufficient funds to cover living and travel expenses for myself and any dependents who accompany me. If I attend summer school, I will have sufficient funds to cover tuition and fees, books, and supplies. If I do not remain in the U.S. during the summer/winter breaks, I will have sufficient funds to purchase a plane ticket. These funds can and will be provided during my entire period of studies by the individual or agency noted in Section 2. (Please save copies for your records.) I can make arrangements to have the necessary funds transferred to the U.S. and available to me prior to registration each semester. I understand that my educational and living expenses will increase each year at TCU, and I will be prepared to increase the amount of my sponsorship each year. I realize that no additional scholarships or financial aid will be available after I enroll.
