2 The LSPI High School Law Camp is: Scheduled over a three week period, from June 13, 2016 to July 1, 2016 Held Monday through Thursday (8:45 am to 3:30pm) and Friday (8:45 am to 12:00pm) Free, with lunch and snacks provided Monday through Thursday Available to students on a limited basis The LSPI High School Law Camp: Develops analytical and critical reading and writing skills Enhances leadership training and helps develop professional skills Introduces students to the legal profession Gives students the opportunity to speak with law school students, members of the El Paso legal community, and UTEP professors Shows students that they can go to law school The LSPI High School Law Camp includes: Case Law Instruction Presentations by Attorneys and Law Students Writing Classes Field Trips to Legal Community Organizations Introduction to Legal Analysis Workshop Challenge Course Professional Skills Development Mock Trial Exercise Mock LSAT The HSLC is intended for rising juniors and seniors in high school Curriculum will include student presentations, papers, and exams GENERAL INFORMATION NAME First Name: Middle Name: Last Name: Other Name(s) used: T-shirt size: 2016 LSPI HSLC Application 2

6 Note: Once your application has been submitted it is very important to contact the LSPI HSLC Coordinator to confirm the receipt of your application. A personal interview of the student may be required. In that case, the student will be contacted by the LSPI HSLC Coordinator to set up a time and date for the interview. The LSPI HSLC Coordinator will notify you if you have been conditionally accepted into the program. Attendance at one of the pre-camp orientations is mandatory for the student and at least one parent/guardian of the student in order to be fully accepted in the program. By signing this application form, I certify that the information I have provided on this form and in any supplemental materials is complete and accurate. I understand that falsifying information on this application may result in my removal from the program. I give UTEP and the Law School Preparation Institute permission to use the information on this application for tracking purposes as well as for evaluating my candidacy.
