Participants came from leading European companies and research centers. The courses are now available online or through partnerships. ISN offers a pool of qualified trainers. Course Objectives The 5 days Certified EU Project Manager Course is specifically designed for providing managers (of IT and service companies, not for profit EU service associations, and SME managers) with the knowledge and skills needed to establish: Planning an EU project (objectives, measurement, exploitation etc.), Quality Management in an EU Project, Financial management and Control in an EU Project, Deliverable Design, Integration and Review Strategies in EU Projects, Team- and E-Working Examples from Successfully Managed EU Projects. 2 Certification Delegates who perform a test (based on a European test questions pool) and pass learning elements by higher than 70% will achieve a certificate. The certificate will be issued by the European Certification and Qualification Association (ECQA) U Certificates Association (founded by the EU initiative now involving 18 EU countries. Modular Certificate The course program bases on the principles of the EQF European Qualification Framework. The course bases on learning modules and for each learning module credits can be achieved. These learning modules can be attended in different countries. For in-house courses it is normally a fixed price of approx Euros (for up to 10 attendees). The certificate fee is to be paid in addition per attendee to the European Certification and Qualification Association (ECQA, and is 150 Euros. Damjan Ekert is the chief developer of the Capability Adviser (Assessment portals) and EPI systems since He studied Telematics in Austria and finished studies with distinction. He is a certified competent ISO Automotive SPICE assessor and works in consulting projects for Magna. He is the project leader for software development inside ISCN. Since 2003 he is involved in a number of successful EU projects and is a job role committee member of the Certified EU project manager and a member of the European Certification and Qualification Association, as well as a Vice president of the International IT Security Manager Association. 4 Dr Richard Messnarz Dr. Richard Messnarz is the Executive Director of ISCN LTD. He studied at the University of Technology Graz and he worked as a researcher and lecturer at this University from In 2 European mobility projects (1993 and 1994) he was involved in the foundation of ISCN, and he became the director of ISCN in He is/has been the technical director of many European projects: PICO - Process Improvement Combined Approach , Bestregit - Best RegionalTechnology Transfer, , TEAMWORK - Strategic Eworking Platform Development and Trial, , MediaISF - Eworking of media organisation for strategic collaboration on EU integration, ORGANIC Certified Innovation Manager ( ) He is the editor of a book "Better Software Practice for Business Benefit", which has been published by IEEE ( in 1999 (the leading research publisher in the USA). He is the chairman of the EuroSPI initiative and chair of the programme committee of the EuroSPI conference series. He is author of many publications in e-working and new methods of work in conferences of the European Commission (E-2001 in Venice, E-2002 in Prague), and in the magazine for software quality (Software Quality Professional) of the ASQ (Ameri-can Society for Quality). He is co-founder of ISCN LTD (Dublin, 1994), founder of ISCN Regionalstelle (Graz, 1997), and owner of the ISCN GesmbH (Graz, 2001). He is a lead BOOTSTRAP and SPICE assessor. How to Find the Offices of ISCN Look at Certificates Course Attendance Certificate The student receives this certificate after attending an EU project manager course A standard template format is to be used across all countries The certificate is modular and mentions the learning elements attended and enables the person to officially do a test on these elements (next level of certificate) Note: Let the students register at the test portal during the training, to ensure that everyone has a test account to continue to the next higher level. Course / Test Certificate An examiner organisation created a test for a group of students (using the test system online) o Either then organising the test online (students log into the exam portal) o Or offline based on a test created on the exam portal and printed out The student performs the test The certificate is modular and only for learning elements where more than 70% were reached a test certificate will show that the student passed Page 5 of 7

6 Summary Certificate A student might have attended a set of 1 or 2 day courses to cover the skill card. And the student might pass a set of elements in the test at different courses. o If a student attended more than 2 tests a summary certificate is being issued showing all elements covered versus all elements in the skills card (a status) A student might repeat tests and attendance of courses until the summary certificate shows all learning elements covered A skill card can be used to accredit training providers as well as to certify people. Professional Certificate A student applies the learned practices over an observation period of 3 years in industry and uses the Capability Adviser System to upload evidences of real experience on the job The Examiner Organisation administers a pool of assessors Page 6 of 7

7 o They rate the uploaded evidences A student might repeat uploading evidences until the assessors rate certain elements as covered Such ratings will be done by assessors boards in periodical steps (every quarter). Page 7 of 7
