4 1 INTRODUCTION AND INTERPRETATION 1.1 Introduction These Course Regulations apply to all students enrolled in the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management / Bachelor of Science Award at The University of Notre Dame Australia. These Regulations should be read in conjunction with the University s General Regulations and the School of Business Regulations and the School of Arts and Sciences Regulations. 1.2 Interpretation The terms included in these Regulations have the meanings as defined in the University s General Regulations and the School of Business Regulations and the School of Arts and Sciences Regulations. 1.3 Amendments made to Course Regulations Unless otherwise specified, when amendments are made to the structure, content or academic requirements of thiaward, the amendments will automatically apply in accordance with the General Regulations. 1.4 Applicability to Campuses of the University The Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management / Bachelor of Science Award is available on the Fremantle Campus only. 1.5 The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) The Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management is a level 7 AQF qualification. 5 2 ENTRY CRITERIA 2.1 General Criteria The standard entry requirements for admission are detailed in the University s General Regulations and the School of Business Regulations and the School of Arts and Sciences Regulations. 2.2 Additional Entry Requirements / Pre-Requisites There are no additional entry requirements or pre-requisites for this Award. 2.3 External Accreditation Requirements External accreditation requirements are not applicable to this Award. 6 3 AWARD REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Structure Refer to Award structure in Appendix A. Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management / Bachelor of Science Compulsory Units 905 credit points from units as detailed in Appendix A Elective Units There are no Electives within this Award Majors and Double Majors (a) There are no Majors available within the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management component of this degree. (b) The following single majors are permitted within the Bachelor of Science. Required or or eligible for each of the following Majors are published by the School of Arts and Sciences as Majors, Minors and Specialisations lists. For the requirements of these Majors, please see the School of Arts and Sciences webpage for its list of Majors and Minors. Archaeology Biology Environmental Science Geography Human Biology Minors There are no Minors available in this Award Specialisations There are no Specialisations permitted in this Award Special Interest Units Special Interest Units are available in the Bachelor of Science component of this Award. See details in the Bachelor of Science Regulations. 3.2 Special Award Requirements There are no special award requirements in the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management / Bachelor of Science. 3.3 Practicum or Internship requirements (a) The following practicum and internship units are required as part of the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management / Bachelor of Science double degree: (b) The Bachelor of Science double degree component requires the completion of SS390 Science Internship. (c) The Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management double degree component requires completion of the three practicum units as detailed below: HPE1503 Sport and Recreation Management Industry Practicum I HPE2503 Sport and Recreation Management Industry Practicum II HPE3503 Sport and Recreation Management Industry Internship (d) Placements are managed and authorised by the Practicum Coordinator and require students to formally register and seek approval on the standard form for the placement with the coordinator prior to commencement. (e) For the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management double degree component, a lower level Practicum unit must be completed prior to enrolment in a higher level practicum unit unless permission is granted by the Dean of the School of Business. 7 3.4 Approved unit substitutions a) Unit substitutions within the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management component of the double degree are permitted only with the approval of the Dean (or delegate). b) Unit substitutions within the Bachelor of Science component of the double degree are permitted only with the approval of the Dean (or delegate). 3.5 Alternative Pathways Alternative Pathways are not applicable for this Award. 3.6 Volume of Learning Standard Duration (a) The standard duration for the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management / Bachelor of Science Award is four (4.0) years of equivalent full-time study. (b) A student is able to enrol in this Award on a part-time basis Accelerated Duration (a) An accelerated mode is not available for the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management / Bachelor of Science Award Maximum Duration The maximum period of time within which a student is permitted to complete the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management / Bachelor of Science Award is detailed in the University s General Regulations. 3.7 Graduation Where a student has satisfied all the requirements of the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management / Bachelor of Science Award as detailed in these Course Regulations and the General Regulations, the University may grant the student graduation status. 3.8 Exit Awards An Exit Award pathway is not available for this Award. 3.9 Honours The Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management Award is not offered with Honours. The Bachelor of Bachelor of Science Award is offered with Honours. Details about Honours in the Bachelor of Science are provided in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) Award Regulations (course code 3496).
