Call: for further information RESOURCES TUTORING JOB DEVELOPMENT STUDENT ASSISTANCE CENTER RESOURCES The Student Assistance Center (SAC) supports the educational needs of the Fresno Adult School (FAS) student. Located in Room 108, students can take advantage of a wide variety of services offered, which include, tutoring, computers, text books and career planning. Students can study and use the center s computers for class projects and to locate community resources. Staff is available to answer questions and to help the students reach their goals. TUTORING No matter what program you are enrolled in at FAS, you can take advantage of the tutors available in the SAC. FAS is pleased to provide Teaching Fellows from CSUFresno on campus to assist students. Tutors are available in FAS classrooms and for individual or small group tutoring in the SAC, Room 108, during operational hours for High School Diploma, GED, Adult Basic Education, Career & Technical Education, and English as a Second Language. JOB DEVELOPMENT Theresa Sanchez, Fresno Adult School s Job Developer, is available to assist students with their career planning. She is available to help students with their interview skills, update resumes, and help plan career paths. Fresno Adult School offers GED classes in English and Spanish to those who do not have a high school diploma and are interested in acquiring a California High School Equivalency Certificate (GED). 10 CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION TUITION-FREE! CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION Business & Computer Training (Day & Evening) q Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC 3 ) This is a 6.5 week course which focuses on the foundational skills to ensure that all students achieve an industry standard for computer literacy. The class covers three sections: hardware, software, and the Internet. The Hardware section allows students to gain the skills to deal with simple hardware issues, a key skill for all employers. The Software section provides an overview of Windows 7 and the Microsoft Office 2010 suite. The Internet section covers the basics of the Internet and how one can navigate through it. The class culminates with the students taking the IC 3 test to acquire the IC 3 international certification. This is a mandatory class for all students who wish to pursue one of Fresno Adult School s CTE programs. See page 12 for Enrollment Session information. q Business Writing Fundamentals (Day) Course covers basic grammar, punctuation, word usage, and sentence structure to compose sentences using correct punctuation. Professional paragraph writing is practiced within memorandum and formats. Collaborating in small groups and working individually, students learn about proper workplace behavior. CNAs are responsible for basic care services such as bathing, grooming and feeding patients, assisting nurses with medical equipment, and checking patient vital signs. CNAs give patients social and emotional support and provide vital information on patient conditions to nurses. The TUITION- FREE 9-week day training program meets M-F for six (6) hours. LVNs initiate basic data collection and assessments and provide care for patients who are sick, injured, convalescing, and have physical and mental disabilities. LVNs work in medical, surgical, maternity, newborn, pediatric, and emergency department, ambulatory/outpatient and long-term/extended care facilities. Their duties include evaluating and prioritizing patients needs, assessments of vital signs, recording input and output of food and fluids, treatments such as inserting foley catheters and nasogastric tubes, blood sugar testing and tube feedings, applying and changing dressings, and preparing and administering medications and certain intravenous fluids with IV certification.
