In fall 1998, the college opened its own site, the North County Campus, on 105-acres in Paso Robles. The campus, initially established almost exclusively with private gift support, has grown from 1,200 students in modular facilities the first semester to 2,500 day and evening students in spring The North County Campus now has two beautiful permanent buildings. For more information regarding the history of Cuesta College, please utilize the following website: Students can achieve Degrees and Certificates solely through coursework offered on the North County Campus including L.V.N.; Business Administration and Psychology; Early Childhood Education Teacher; and Emergency Medical Technician I. 2 Cuesta College One college, three convenient locations and on-line instruction All degree applicable courses taken at any Cuesta location (San Luis Obispo Campus, North County Campus, South County Center in Arroyo Grande or on-line) apply toward a Cuesta College degree. Students can take courses here, and at all sites, that will allow them to earn credits to transfer into the CSU/UC higher education systems. Keep in mind, Cuesta College is one college with three locations. *Cuesta parking permits are valid for the North County Campus and the SLO Campus. STARTING POINT: N3000 ADELAIDA BUILDING Home of Student Services, Admissions and Records, Cashier, Transfer Center, ESL, Counseling, Financial Aid, EOPS, CalWorks, ASCC Photo ID, and Health Center A. Student Services/Admission and Records (N3000-Lobby Area) ( ) Come in to Student Services for anything regarding Cuesta College including Admissions, Registration, Campus Activities, and additional Student Support Programs for the North County Campus. B. Cashier (N3041) ( ) Assists students with questions that pertain to student accounts at the Cashier's Office. All transactions with the Cashier must be in cash or check. Paying with a debit or credit card can be done securely on a student s mycuesta Student tab. Cashier Hours: Monday-Wednesday 8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. C. Transfer Center (N3026) A self-service resource center that provides information about CSU s, UC s, and numerous private colleges. Columbia College Representatives Representatives from Columbia College s four- year institution provides admissions counseling during the academic year. English as a Second Language (ESL) (N3030) ( ) The ESL program offers classes focusing on reading, writing, grammar and conversation from beginning to advanced levels. 3 E. Counseling (N3011) ( ) Students are strongly encouraged to see a counselor to ensure that they take the correct classes needed to achieve their academic goals. Make an appointment by calling (805) or stop by walk-in counseling today! F. Extended Opportunity Program and Service (EOPS) (N3024) ( ) EOPS assists financially disadvantaged students. Assistance includes indepth counseling, book vouchers, networking, social events, workshops on topics such as procrastination and time management. G. CalWorks (N3024) ( ) Designed to assist welfare recipient students in transitioning off welfare and to achieve long-term self-sufficiency through coordinated student services. Services include: academic counseling, career counseling, work study and job placement, education on rights and responsibilities, and advocacy. H. Associated Students of Cuesta College (ASCC) Photo ID (N3008) ( ) Come to this office to smile for the camera for the ASCC Student ID Card. Find out about discounts available to Cuesta students with the ASCC Student ID Card. When you purchase and show your ASCC ID card, you receive free bus fare with the RTA bus system (and Route 9) in the North County. There are new extended evening hours for the RTA beginning Fall I. Financial Aid (N3015 &3017) ( ) The Financial Aid Office administers more than $3 million annually through student loans, federal grants, work opportunities and scholarships. Approximately one-third of Cuesta students receive some form of financial assistance, and if you need assistance, this is the office where you can apply. Financial Aid Advisors are available on a walk-in basis year round. J. Health Center (N3025) ( ) Services offered: Psychologist, Nurse Practitioner, first aid treatment, illness assessment/referrals, personal counseling/crisis prevention and intervention, health check-ups, free over-the-counter medication (cough drops, aspirin, etc.), and more. N6000 SANTA LUCIA BUILDING Home of the Sustainability Resource Center, Engineering, and Technology Classrooms A. Sustainability Resource Center ( ) Integrates sustainability concepts and practices, in particular, renewable and sustainable energy, throughout SLO County schools, PreK-16. 4 N1000 NACIMIENTO/WOLF BUILDING Home of the Bookstore, Public Safety, Lost and Found, Nursing Simulation Lab, and a Student Study Area A. Bookstore (N1002) ( ) Sells textbooks, supplies, clothing, snacks, drinks, and much more. B. Public Safety and Lost and Found (N1035) ( ) Home of the Lost and Found, Parking Enforcement, and Safety Officers that are on duty before, during, and after business hours. C. Nursing Simulation Lab (N1013) The Lab is used by the Licensed Vocational Nursing program as part of its training in simulating patient care experiences in a variety of settings such as long-term care, acute care, pediatrics, etc. It is equipped with manikins, hospital beds, and nursing equipment to allow students to practice their patient care as an adjunct to their theory and skill classes. D. Student Study Area Come study in a relaxed environment, and grab a snack or drink with the convenient vending machines located here. N 4000 ESTRELLA BUILDING Home of the Estrella Career Center, which houses Career Connections and Work Study, Community Programs, and non-credit ESL Courses. The building also includes the Cuesta College Children s Center. A. Career Connections/Work Study ( ) Career Connections offers a variety of workshops every month that cover topics like "How to Write an Objective Driven Resume", "How to Shine in an Interview", "How to Market your internet Job Search", and more. Career Connections is the headquarters for the Work Experience Program. B. Community Programs ( ) Community Programs provides a comprehensive source for lifelong learning, vocational education, recreational opportunities and cultural development where community members may pursue their potential in an inviting, accessible environment. C. Children s Center (N4036) ( ) The mission is to serve as hands on educational laboratory for the students enrolled in the College's Early Childhood Education program, and to provide an early learning program for young children ages 18 months to 5 years of age. 5 N2000 CARRISA BUILDING Home of the Cuesta Café and Vending Machines A. Cuesta Café (N2002) The Cuesta Café offers a variety of dining options from meals, to coffee, to a quick snack or drink before class. Always be on the lookout for their meal options and specials! N5000 CERRO ALTO BUILDING Home of Fine Arts Classrooms, a Computer Lab, Study Area, and Assessment Center A. Assessment Center (N5004) ( ) Provides assessment testing to identify each student s academic aptitude in math, reading and writing so that they can enroll in classes that best match their skills. FOX /ALLIED HEALTH, MATH AND SCIENCE BUILDING The Fox Building was the first permanent building on the North County Campus and opened in the summer of Home of Allied Health, Faculty Offices, a Lecture Hall, Student Lounge, ATM Machine, Computer Labs, and Classrooms A. Allied Health Program Programs and courses offered on our North County Campus include Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Medical Assisting, Paramedic, and Phlebotomy, The Psychiatric Technician Program is taught offsite at Atascadero State Hospital. B. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) The CNA course is a 9-week course offered on our North County Campus during the first half of the spring and fall semesters. Upon passing the CNA certification test, the student is prepared for employment in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities or private duty nursing at the Nursing Assistant level. C. Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) The LVN program offered on the North County Campus prepares students for entry-level vocational nursing positions in a variety of healthcare settings. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Vocational Nursing Licensure examination (NCLEX-PN). D. 6 E. HigherOne Cuesta Card ATM Machine Students can check their balance, and obtain cash from their HigherOne Cuesta Card here. More information can be obtained at: N2800 MATH ANNEX Cuesta offers a wide variety of different levels of math courses from arithmetic fundamentals through differential equations. This building also houses Nursing courses for our LVN program. N3100/3200 SCHWARTZ LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER (LRC) The Dale and Mary Schwartz LRC is the second permanent building on the North County Campus and was dedicated on May 24th, Home of the Library, DSPS, Student Success Center, Academic Tutoring, ESL Writing Center, Dean and Administration, Computer and Mac Labs, Café Snack Shop, and Study Areas. A. Library (N3113) ( ) Computers and printers are available to students. Group and individual study rooms are available upon request. B. Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) (N3121) ( ) Provides testing, assistance, and accommodations to students with a variety of learning disabilities that can interfere with a student s ability to read, comprehend or perform academically. C. Student Success Center/Academic Tutoring (N3130) ( ) Tutoring is available for all subjects. Please stop by to see how the Student Success Center can help you achieve your academic goals! A. Academic Math Tutoring (N3129) ( ) Provides students with tutoring ranging from intermediate algebra and trigonometry, to more advanced courses like linear analysis. B. ESL Language Lab/Writing Center (N3134) Provides individual tutoring for ESL students. C. Veteran s Resource Center (N3121) ( ) Veterans can expect to receive professional, courteous, and compassionate support as they pursue their educational and vocational goals at Cuesta.
