Your entry into the CPA Program will be determined by an individual application. your application If your previous studies do not cover the core accounting knowledge, your application outcome will identify one or more foundation exams which you can pass in order to begin the CPA Program. These flexible low cost exams allow you to study in your own time without the need to return to university or stop working. If you have studied an accounting-related degree, you will likely go straight into the CPA Program (professional level). Learn the application of ethical principles, together with a strong knowledge of key corporate governance principles and mechanisms. Strategic Management Accounting Learn how management accounting provides the information critical to the business decision making process. This subject then takes it all one step further and introduces the role of the management accountant in business strategy. Financial Reporting Apply accounting standards, interpret financial reports, and understand the business impacts of financial reports. Global Strategy and Leadership In the capstone subject, you will use strategic analysis to address complex business issues in a competitive and uncertain business environment. Elective Subjects If you have completed recognised studies in taxation and auditing, you can choose any two electives. If you have not completed recognised studies in taxation and/or auditing, you must select Advanced Taxation and/or Advanced Audit and Assurance. Advanced Taxation Identify, analyse, and assess taxation implications for individuals and business entities and ensure compliance with taxation laws. Local taxation units are available for Malaysia and Singapore. Advanced Audit and Assurance Focus on both external and internal audit procedures. This subject will ensure you understand the audit process and are able to apply international standards to complex audits. Financial Risk Management Recognise the financial risks faced by businesses and understand the key mechanisms and frameworks used to address and manage risk. Contemporary Business Issues Analyse and evaluate the role of the CPA in contemporary business and how the accounting profession continues to evolve. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION You don t need to be working to commence the CPA Program. You must have completed a degree or a post graduate award recognised by CPA Australia to become a CPA. If you have significant work experience in accounting but no formal accounting qualification, you should still apply as you are likely to get into the CPA Program through our foundation exams. did you know? The day to day problems you encounter, and solutions you create, will help you become a well-rounded, work-ready professional. The practical experience requirement of the CPA Program will help you to: develop an effective career management strategy gain access to experienced professionals expertise, skills and insights document and record your practical skills and technical knowledge that can be used to enhance your career opportunities develop networks within your workplace and develop skills in communication, negotiation and people management. Key requirements Through the practical experience requirement you will: complete a minimum of three years of relevant work experience and demonstrate competence in the necessary technical, business, personal effectiveness and leadership skills. You will need a mentor to verify that you have demonstrated the necessary skills. If you are working part time, your experience can be calculated proportionally. We recommend taking the theory and practical experience components of the CPA Program concurrently. However, previous relevant experience can be recognised and you don t need to be working to commence the CPA Program as you can complete the practical experience requirement after you ve finished the professional education component.
