Since 2005, A&O has been committed to keeping in touch with our alumni. It is our people past and present who continue to build the A&O Story. By offering you the opportunity to keep in touch with former colleagues through the Alumni Network, we hope that A&O continues to be part of your story once you leave the firm. 3 3 As A&O was a major part of my life, the Alumni Network continues to give me the feeling that I m still a part of A&O by keeping in touch with those people past and present and keeping up to date with A&O news. I enjoy being remembered for my time at A&O. I m proud to have worked for A&O and consequently am happy to be associated with it as an alumni member. We have members who left A&O in the 1970s, some who worked at the firm for 20 years, while others stayed for just six months. Whether you have retired, moved roles or are on a career break, we d love to keep in touch as your journey continues. It s an easy three-step registration process: Join Welcome to the Alumni Network Log on to Complete the short online registration form located under the I don t have an account yet heading. To complete the form users need to agree to the terms and conditions of the Alumni Network and must choose a six-character password. Your registration form will be automatically verified and an confirmation will be sent granting you access to the Alumni Network. 5 5 Keeping in touch online at At the centre of our Alumni Network is our dedicated website. It is a community platform which has similar functionality to LinkedIn. Members can access our online people directory, connect with other members, find out about A&O and marketplace jobs and read the latest A&O and alumni news. New content, including updates about upcoming alumni events, is regularly added to the website. It s easy to log in: You can log in to the website by using your LinkedIn, Facebook, Google or Xing account details. This saves having to remember multiple passwords. Alumni can import their LinkedIn profile onto the Alumni website to save time having to manage multiple online profiles. Don t use LinkedIn? Don t worry, it s simple and easy to update your profile details. The website is now mobile optimised so you can access the site on the go. It s an interactive community platform as you can like, share or add your own discussion items, photos, marketplace jobs and more.

6 6 Connecting People at A&O and beyond The A&O Story While visiting the Alumni Network website take a look at the A&O Story, our online history portal which captures the milestone moments and personal anecdotes that have helped shape the firm. Searchable by office and by decade, the A&O Story features photos, videos, stories and the major milestones that capture the heritage of the firm and the enterprising nature of our people both past and present. With content refreshed every year, the A&O story is a living history as members can directly share their own A&O stories. Did you know? The first A&O office outside of London was in Dubai? We have had two partners who have become Lord Mayor of London. A&O provided legal services for the abdication of King Edward VIII in A&O was also involved in the first ever Eurobond back in 1963 and there have been plenty of other groundbreaking moments since. In addition to the dedicated website, online directory and e-newsletters, we offer a number of benefits including: Our employee referral scheme which extends to our alumni. This means that you can receive a financial reward for referring successful candidates to job vacancies across our global network of offices. You are welcome to promote your own marketplace job vacancies on our website to reach potential candidates. We also offer a number of pro bono opportunities to our alumni including trustee positions. Alumni offices have been set up in Antwerp, Brussels, London and in Hong Kong for those members needing temporary office space. You can also use the library in One Bishops Square. Alumni are invited to participate in the A&O choir and in each musical production the firm produces. We hold a number of alumni social events across our global network, including our global Annual Alumni Reunion held in October each year. Each year you will receive a copy of our award-winning Alumni Yearbook. Each edition is packed with interesting profiles and articles for everyone to enjoy. Alumni Network Mentoring Programme Our Alumni Network Mentoring Programme is open to all global alumni, A&O partners and staff. The programme aims to provide mentees with the opportunity to ask questions, discuss work-related issues, air concerns or chat about their personal career development confidentially, outside of their immediate work environment.
