The college serves over 9200 students, has 115 full time faculty and a budget of approximately $23 million. Executive Director of Academic Partnerships and Initiatives Serve as the chief college officer for the LSC-Kingwood campus reporting to the president and working closely with the vice presidents for instruction and student services; instructional deans; dept. chairs and the business services office. Provides leadership, budgetary management, and oversight of major college partnerships and initiatives. Develop effective P-16 academic initiatives with the college s five partner independent school district and colleges/universities; Development of cross-college student academic and student support initiatives that improve student retention, completion and graduation, and employment/transfer; Serve as the liaison between the academic divisions, administration, faculty and ISD senior administration; Work closely with the Texas Higher Education Agency (TEA) and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to assure that all reporting and compliance issues are addressed; Accountability to the community and the system for the projects associated with the passing of a $420 million bond; Serve as the chief administrator, and coordinator in the construction of two new buildings on our campus, as well as the construction of an off-site location and the renovation of one building. 2 As a member of the Presidents Executive Group, makes recommendations that guide current operations and future direction of the college; Provides academic leadership and vision for the college; Promotes an environment supportive of the college mission and vision, including a focus on teaching excellence and student success; Ensures the quality of instructional programs as assigned, which may include: credit transfer and workforce education programs; continuing education workforce and leisure programs; faculty initiatives and professional development; academic support and extended learning; assessment; external accreditation compliance; dual credit/school partnerships, and institutional effectiveness; Hires, evaluates, and directs instructional deans and other academic personnel as assigned; Participates in college-wide budget development, planning and implementation for instructional departments; Serves as the college s academic representative to external constituencies; Represents the college on system-wide councils; Works with other Academic Vice Presidents and the Vice Chancellor for Student Success to establish system-wide protocols for faculty hiring, workload, and other issues; Developed and implemented Achieving the Dream strategies including student success course, intervention system, math computer lab; Increased workforce enrollments through Liberty County Workforce Academy, as well as expanding dual credit offerings to the college s rural ISD s; Increase in nursing program by receiving grant and implementing only online ADN program in State; Expanded Respiratory Therapy program by opening only evening program in area, accepted 2 cohorts; Created office of institutional effectiveness, inclusion and equity to address the growing Hispanic population in our area and college; Increase use of technology at the college by supporting college grants for purchasing space in Second Life. June June 2006 Dean of Instruction, Math, Science and Health Care Lone Star College Kingwood, Kingwood, Texas Report directly to the Vice-President for Educational Programs & Student Development, provides overall leadership, budget management, planning, and administration for an academic division (41 full-time faculty and approximately 75 adjuncts) and 4.2 million dollar budget. Disciplines include: Math, Developmental Math, Sciences, Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Occupational Therapy and Respiratory Care. Provide leadership for budget development and administration; curriculum; schedule development and section management; Working with program directors, responsible for accreditation compliance in multiple health care programs; Provides Leadership for instructional areas in division through planning, development, implementation, and evaluation. Fosters a culture of continuous performance improvement and feedback to ensure curriculum integrity, to address program weaknesses, and to build on program strengths; Coordinates the long-range academic plan for the division with appropriate curriculum committees, Deans, Instructional Vice Presidents, and other college and system leadership; Guides the division in keeping up-to-date on the latest trends in instructional methods, technology, and effective pedagogies for learning and ensures that these trends are built into the long-range plan for the division; 2
3 Builds processes in the division and collaborates with other divisions, VPIs, and System-wide deans to ensure schedules are developed to meet student needs, class loads are efficiently distributed, and registration to final grade delivery is seamless; Develops and implements faculty and staff professional growth plans that leverage employee talent to achieve college and system goals. Oversees the recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and retention of qualified faculty and staff with attention to diversity; Maintains the human aspects of the division including resolving personnel and student issues, developing channels of communication, developing a culture of success, and fostering a culture of evidence; Communicates effectively to implement the programs of the system, to advocate for the growth of the division, and to allow the division to meet the needs of the surrounding community; Ensures that the division offers programs that allow for student success. This includes developing benchmarks through data-informed decisions, developing accountability, and ensuring SACS, GIPWE, and Coordinating Board requirements are met. Provided Leadership for the construction of Health and Science building, and renovation of 2 existing buildings; Provided leadership in the initial accreditation of 2 new health care programs, and the reaccreditation of 3 others; Received grant to implement nursing preceptor program, partnering with area hospitals, increasing enrollment; Implemented new A.A.S. degree program in Dental Hygiene; Supported the use of technology and increase in on-line and hybrid courses increasing enrollment in the physical sciences overturning a downward trend. October 2001-June 2003 Dean of Instruction, Computer Information and Applied Technology Lone Star College North Harris, Houston, Texas Working under the leadership of the vice-presidents of instruction, serve as the principal academic and budgetary officer for the academic division (32 full-time faculty and approximately 110 adjuncts). Provide leadership for budget development and administration; curriculum; schedule development and section management; Oversees all program advisory boards for programs within the division; Hires, evaluates and mentors new faculty; Work closely with continuing education and workforce development to offering technical training to business and corporate partners. Provided Leadership for the design of academic technology building; Created new division as part of district reorganization implementing department chair model; Worked with advisory boards to secure donations for college s CNC and HVAC programs; Partnered the division with continuing and contract education department to expand offerings and better utilizing resources. 4 Maricopa Community College District, Phoenix College, Phoenix, Az. Phoenix College is an urban, comprehensive community college that is part of a 10 college system in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. The college serves over 12,000 students. The college is designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HIS). The City College Center is an inner city satellite campus serving mostly English as a Second Language (ESL) students. Senior Associate Dean/ Director, City Colleges Center Reporting to the President, serve as the chief operating officer for the center with responsibilities that include developing educational partnerships and alliances with public schools, colleges and universities, corporations, business and industry and other community entities. Also oversaw admissions, registration and business office of the Center. Liaison with the Texas Higher Education Board for new workforce program development; Work with faculty to train and deliver new technology for classroom teaching; Create Partnerships with area businesses to serve constituents with needed training; Partner with Continuing Education division to better serve business community; Direct all Advisory Boards for college s workforce programs; Serve as college member on district workforce council.
